Devotion Of A Carnation

Chapter 2: Pink Camellia

Summary:

His class lecture goes on for what feels like an eternity before finally finishing up. He hurriedly packs up his things to get to the field where Shu draws in his spare time. As he's packing his things, however, he can overhear his classmates speaking to their professor. Flirting with him, as usual. Well, he can't judge them too much. That was him as well, not too long ago. That was in the past though, when he mindlessly searched for love anywhere he could find it, giving his love to anyone who would pay attention to him. That was, until he found Shu.

It’s a nice morning. A bit on the cold side, but nothing a hoodie can't fix.

Mika admires the man’s sleeping face. Even when asleep, he’s beautiful and elegant. He wonders what the man dreams about. He wishes to peer inside his mind, to see the world in the same bright, passionate way Shu does. Maybe then, he wouldn’t be here on earth anymore, but rather in his own world where he has purpose.

His long eyelashes were even more apparent when his eyes are closed. It would be difficult to see from this distance, if not for Mika’s camera he took with him everywhere. Mika wishes he could get closer to him during this time, he wants to take in his scent before Shu got the chance to wash his sweat away in his morning shower. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s been inside the Itsuki household if he does decide to welcome himself inside, but it was risky to do in the mornings when everyone is home. So for now, he settles with watching from the window.

A light grumble escapes the pink haired man’s lips, as he slowly stirs awake. His eyes open carefully, as if he’s so fragile as to hurt himself from merely waking up. He sits up in his luxurious, black and wine red bed. Of course, his silk pajama’s matched the color scheme. Mika was in awe at his perfection and attention to detail even through something as simple as waking up in the morning. Though, he shouldn't be surprised. Shu does everything perfectly, no matter the case. It’s a level of perfection Mika could never hope to achieve, even though his mind tried to convince him he needed to. Mika often messed up, but he always made up for it. He has to, what would happen if he doesn’t? From knocking on a table because he failed a test to counting his finger nails to make up for spacing out mid-conversation, he always tried to even out his mistakes. He would even go as far as to harm himself if he feels as though he needs to.

As his God elegantly carried himself out of bed, Mika made sure he’s well hidden from Shu. It wouldn’t be good if he got caught, he would have to make up for that mistake with his life.
Soft pink hair sways slightly in his movement, despite the short length, as he makes his way to his closet. Once opened, Mika can see all the beautifully made clothing in there. There’s a wide variety, though the frillier ones and the dresses don’t often get worn, much less outside his bedroom. Mika enjoys being the only one who gets to see him wear his cuter clothes in the time the two of them are alone, though he did wonder why Shu only ever wore them inside. Instead, the man opts to pick up dark navy blue pants, a white button-up shirt, along with a yellow sweater vest. An outfit and color combination very fitting for spring. Though he worries, will that vest be enough to keep him warm? He sure hopes so.

The man continues on with his morning routine. Shower, skincare, brushing his teeth, etc. Once finished, he begins to head towards the front door. He skips breakfast, which Mika has noticed is common for him. Shu finds most foods foul, he tends to only eat once his body desperately needs it. And apparently, that isn't right now. Though, it doesn't stop one of the household's maids from asking him about it. Of course, he just brushes her off, like he does nearly every morning. His parents sit at the table, hearing the conversation between Shu and the maid, yet they don't say anything. Shu and his parents don't speak much. Mika briefly wonders if that's common, though he doesn't linger on it too much. After all, what would he know about family? Though, he does still find it strange that Shu, who is normally so talkative, is almost completely silent when home.

After the pink haired man finally walks out the door, he pulls the collar of his shirt a bit to let some air in. "It's a bit warmer than expected." He mutters to himself.

The two of them make it to their college campus, and Mika sadly has to part ways with the man. He can't spend all his time around Shu, if he failed his classes he wouldn't be able to stay on campus.

A bright smile spreads across his face as he runs to the field area that Shu spends a lot of his free time at. He's excited to see him again, even though he just saw him this morning it didn't make him feel less lonely when they were away from each other.

Hiding away, he prepares his camera while he waits for the man to show up. However, as he points the lens at the spot Shu is usually in, expecting not to see anyone there yet, he witnesses a familiar figure. Nazuna Nito, the one who has managed to capture Shu's attention. Mika feels intense jealousy whenever he sees him, unable to control himself - he often starts to spiral if he thinks about the other man who is in love with his God.

Before he can get lost in his negative thoughts though, somebody comes up from behind him and takes hold of his camera, stealing it from his hands.

"What do you think you're doing?" A voice rings in his ears.

Mika's eyes grow dark. What a useless person this must be, to steal away his camera - one of the only forms of passion he has other than Shu. What did he do wrong to warrant a reaction such as this? Does he look creepy, hiding away like this? He didn't think anyone could see him. Well, he'd better apologize, he doesn't want to deal with school staff getting involved.

"Nngaah, 'm so sorry, I was jus'-" He freezes mid-apology, turning around to reveal the rude stranger - it's Shu.

"What do you think you're doing? Taking photo's of my Nito like this?" The man accuses.

"N-N-No!! I-I wasn't, I was jus'…"

"You weren't, hmm?" The man glares at the boy, before opening the camera roll for proof. There, all he finds are photos of plants and bugs from his quick scroll.

Mika looks nervous, blushing and unable to look the man in the eyes.

"Why were you pointing this thing at him then?"

"I wasn't, honest! I was… lookin' at somethin' behind him…" Mika lies. Internally, all he can do is scream about how good the man smells. Is he trying out a new cologne? It suits him so well, jasmine maybe?

"Is that so?" He glares at the crow. "For now I cannot disprove you. However, you should not be pointing cameras at somebody else without their permission."

Mika lightly blushes at the scolding, nodding his head to show he understands.

"Well then, I supposed if we are in agreement." Shu begins to walk away.

The crow's eyes widen. "W-Wait!" He says to stop the man from leaving. Oh no, what does he say now? He didn't want their conversation to end, so he said it suddenly. But now, what should he say next? He can't let this chance slip by, he doesn't know the next opportunity he'll have to speak with the man.

"Your… Your outfit! It… Looks real nice!"

Shu looks at him, eyes full of confusion.

Was that a weird thing to say? Oh no, what if he made things awkward? It's decided, Mika will kill himself.

"Yes, it does." Shu finally responds. "I made it myself, after all." He says proudly.

Mika is so happy, he can go on living forever now.

"Wow, really?! That's amazin'!" Of course, the boy already knew this, but he couldn't just casually mention how he knows that.

"This is merely an everyday piece. Though, I doubt someone of your brains could understand my more luxurious pieces." He lets out a light scoff.

Mika just about moans at the degrading words thrown at him. "Can… Can I see them?" Mika's eyes light up. He's so happy right now, to be speaking with the man.

"… You are quite odd, aren't you?" Shu points out. "Though, I suppose it won't do harm to show you." He sighs. “My partner and I usually sit over there during breaks.” The man points at where Nazuna is sitting. “Meet us there tomorrow at this same time, and I will show you.”

A deep blush of excitement rushes to Mika’s cheeks, he stares wide eyed at the man. He can’t believe he just got an invitation to talk with him again tomorrow, this is like a dream.

“Y-Yeah, of course!” The crow responds.
