Chapter Text
It was like a dream.
One second, nothing. The next, there were overly-bright colors and loud voices flooding their senses. It took them a minute to adjust, but they looked behind them, they couldn't believe their eyes.
It was them.
They recognized these people, however crazy it was. They thought it was fiction, just a silly little show. But obviously it wasn't.
Gangle, crying over her already-broken comedy mask.
Ragatha, comforting Gangle.
Kinger, barely visible inside his pillow fort.
Jax, attempting to steal one of Zooble's parts.
Zooble, attempting to strangle Jax.
And Pomni, just talking to everyone like this was just another day.
They stared at everyone in shock, not sure what to say.
It was Pomni who noticed them first. "Guys? There's someone new here."
Everyone looked up in unison, and they gave a small wave at them members of the circus. They paused and looked at their hand. It was blue-ish green and looked almost liquidy, like slime. There was a baggy sleeve that seemed to be dripping a little. Nice. They looked back up and smiled at the others, who were now walking up to them.
"Hi, and welcome! I'm Ragatha." Ragatha said with her trademark cheerfulness.
"Okay, this is gonna sound weird, but... I know?" They said awkwardly, and the smiles fell off of everyone else's faces.
Zooble broke the awkward silence. "What the [%$!#] do you mean, you know?"
"Once again, this is gonna sound super weird, but... Someone kinda made the circus into a TV show and it's been following your adventures since Pomni came along?" They admitted.
"Is this a joke?"
"No. I didn't realize this was all real..."
It was quiet for a little more, then Jax spoke up. "Prove it."
"'Kay..." They went around the circle, naming everyone - and saying random facts for good measure. "Is that good?"
"Y-Yeah, that's enough." Gangle said awkwardly.
"How much do you know?" Jax asked urgently, his pupils barely visible.
"A lot." They said, locking eyes with him, and he swore under his breath-or tried to. The others looked at him, a little concerned, but didn't say anything.
Pomni sighed. "Okay, then. Let's get you settled in and you can tell us more about this. You're gonna need a name."
"Oh, yeah. What about... Liana?"
Liana sat in a circle with the others. "What do you want to know? The theories? The ships? The mental illnesses the fandom has diagnosed you each with?"
"That last one is a joke, right?" Ragatha asked carefully.
"No, but I honestly don't remember all of them."
"Okay, uh... Maybe just general stuff to start? How do we come across in the show? What's your general impression of us?" Pomni asked.
"Who wants to go first?"
"I will, I guess." Pomni volunteered.
"Okay. You're the main character, you get the most screentime, and you're the most mentally stable! Congratulations! Also most of the fandom ships you with Jax. And in humanization fanart, you have the most consistent design, but that's irrelevant."
"Ragatha, you're not part of any ships that most of the fandom can agree with, which means nobody can decide your sexuality, and most of the fandom has decided you have a prosthetic eye IRL."
"Gangle, you and Zooble are arguably the best ship in the show, and you win the prize for least consistent humanization design."
"Zooble, you're a total [%$!#] vibe, you're really fun to draw, and since can control your parts even when they are not attached to you you could theoretically create an army of clones."
"...What?"
"Kinger, some people have theorized that you are physically incapable of Abstracting for whatever reason. Also you have three kids. And a dog."
"Last but not least, Jax." Liana had a mischievous grin on her face, and Jax's smile faltered momentarily. "Don't worry, I won't spill everything. You're the fan favorite-"
"Wait, what the [%$!#] do you mean he's the fan favorite?" Zooble interrupts. "He's a total [%$!#]. And what do you mean spill everything?"
"What can I say? Nothing fandoms love more then mentally unstable characters with [%$!#]-up coping mechanisms."
"WHAT?!?!?"
Jax looks anxious for a moment, then he slaps his usual wide smile back on his face. "And I thought "Zooble can make a clone army" was far-fetched. This must be the stupidest fanbase ever. "Mentally unstable?" What a load of [%$!#]."
"Okay, sorry, I've said enough." Liana said, not pressing it any further.
"As for more general theories, there's one that we're all just brain scans/copies, but I don't think that's true because it feels like it would make the whole show obsolete, and I've said that if it was confirmed I was going to commit Amazing Digital Suicide."
"Please tell me you did not actually say "Amazing Digital Suicide.""
"I did."
Everyone looks more than just a little stressed out by this theory, so Liana moves on quickly. "I forgot to mention this earlier, but there's also a really popular theory that Jax is trans!"
