Ah jeez, these are long…
I can’t believe it’s day 7! This has been so much fun and I’m so grateful to Collie-Parkers-Carbine on tumblr for putting this together! Thank you! Participating has been so fun and I really hope that if anything similar happens in the future that I have the opportunity to contribute.
This was meant to have scenes of Pete, Tressler, Pearson *and* Art getting their letters, with a more detailed look into their lives as they do, I even had some fun facts and lore drops for those parts (did you know that I’m giving Tressler’s radio a name? Or that Pearson was going to have Harkness as a friend who applied alongside him?) but I got really invested in Art (I love him, go figure.) and also I love to yap about black community and culture in Louisiana, so this went longer than I intended and it’s almost three am where I am right now. So, if I want a chance at staying sane in the morning, I’ve got to try and pack it in for now. If I do publish the other parts over the next few days, I’ll add them to this piece as separate chapters.
I really hope you guys had fun reading this seven part, prequel/lore drop/moment between moments series. Hopefully, this spurs me on to write the main story soon!
But more than that, I’m so glad that this event exists. I think this was really incredible to have for Black History month to celebrate black characters in fandom. I wish there were more occasions to do that, they feel so often left behind. I’m a black creator, as I’ve said so this collection holds a very special place for me.
Now that this is going up, I can get back to more important things, like reading the rest of the fics in this collection. There is so much undeniable and unbelievable talent going on in there so I’m stoked about it. I’m really grateful to everyone who put up stories, I love fanfic and I adore TLW. (Apparently, I also enjoy corn and cheese- oof. But I can’t help it! I have a lot of feelings! I’m cringe but I’m free.)Happy Black History Month! <3
