Chapter Text
Presented before him was a platter full of fruits, crackers, and cheese. It wasn’t something Itrapped was expecting, but almost as soon as Chance suggested eating, it was brought to them.
Itrapped wasn’t so sure what this was about; this isn’t normal behavior from chance.
It was… scary. Normally daunting would be a closer word for him to use, but he felt too foggy to really think about that.
“I don’t really… wanna.” Finally, he spoke out, a little crack appearing in his voice. Cut-up fruits are meant to be treats for Itrapped. They’re sweet, a reward when he follows his diet. Or when he goes out on a long walk during a hot day.
Not to mention the other two options… It's too close to the clean food to begin with, let alone what those are filled with.
Their positions had been forced to change, too. Now, Itrapped was just leaning against them, one of their arms still wrapped around him. As comfortable as he still was, he preferred being held like before. Chance got up to grab the plate, lightly rubbing circles around the porcelain.
“Hmmmm.” Chance dragged on a sound. “You sure?”
He reached down, picking up a small piece of watermelon. It was something they both liked, Chance remembered it from a conversation they had a while ago. They love to ask Itrapped questions; it was a simple way to get to know him while not forcing a conversation. “Mmm, yummy—“
Before he was able to advertise the idea of eating, Itrapped stuffed his face against Chance’s side, attempting to hide from it.
“…. Baby?” They tilted their head, reaching the arm that was around him up to pet his head. It was a little bit of a guilty pleasure knowing Itrapped felt safe enough with him to use him as a shield. Sometimes he really acts like a kitten.
He shouldn’t lose focus on the original plan. “What about a taste? Just a little one.”
Then one can become two and so on!
“Um.” Itrapped’s voice was even harder to hear now; it was super muffled. “I dunno.” He felt funny already, going to the doctors, and then Chance suddenly tried to be all sweet to him. It’s strange.
To Chance’s silence, he made another whining sound. “But uh.. ok.” He’s supposed to listen to.. Adults? Chance is younger than him, though, and they’re both adults. That doesn’t make sense. His thoughts don’t make sense.
Still, Itrapped agreed, Chance never wants to force him to do anything; anytime he would show discomfort, he always backed off.
But this was different; he couldn't let him run away this time. It’s for his own health. Chance picked up a piece; it was smaller than the one from earlier, mostly to avoid intimidating him. “Here it comes, say ahhh!”
Itrapped didn’t want to, he wanted to continue hiding and pouting. Still, he moved enough to take a look. Doesn’t look bad. It’s juicy. And Chance is hand-feeding him; he liked that idea.
So finally, he pulled himself out and opened his mouth, accepting the little piece.
The chewing was mechanical. The flavor was overwhelming for someone who had avoided food like this for so long.
And when he looked up at Chance for praise, he was met with an annoying question.
“Yummy?”
No, it isn’t yummy. The smell is irritating him, and Chance is forcing him to do two things in one day that he doesn’t wanna do. “…” he’s not supposed to complain. No one likes it when he does. “… I dunno.” That’s an easier answer, but it did cause Chance to frown. Itrapped noticed it, even if he tried to smile again right after.
“That’s ok, that’s alright, baby.” He won’t try anything else tonight. “We can just go back to the movie.”
“… I don’t want it in my room,” Itrapped said, glancing down onto his lap. Fiddling around with the cloth that was stuck to him.
“Ah, right, right.” Itrapped’s room always has rules. What’s allowed in is very limited; it took months of dating each other before Chance was even allowed to come in. Even then, he had to wait outside the door until Itrapped gave explicit permission to come in. Now he’s able to without all that, luckily, but they probably wouldn’t be allowed to live with him if it were still an issue. “I’ll set it outside, k?”
The improper speech was another thing he learned to do, Itrapped does it to him sometimes. It’s kinda special, seeing him act normal instead of some prim and proper facade.
He removed his arm, picking up the plate. He wasn’t able to get very far, though, as soon as he went to throw his legs over the side of the bed— a light tug on his sleeve stopped him.
“Hm?” A hum left their lips, tilting their head in confusion.
Itrapped had his arm extended, pulling the sleeve again. His head stayed down. “I don’t want you to leave me.”
“Ah-?” He turned fully, getting a good look at the other. He looked a lot smaller now. “I’m not leaving you, just putting it outside. That’s what you wanted, right?”
“….” Itrapped rubbed the fabric between his fingers, it was smooth. “I.. want you to… hold me.”
“Isa, I’ll do that right after, ok?”
In turn, he just whined.
It made Chance set the plate down, moving up to give Itrapped a small hug. Adding a kiss to the other's forehead, too. “You’ll be able to see me the whole time. It’ll be less than a minute, and then I’ll give you allllll the attention you want!” They added on a little squeeze, too.
“…. Ok.” Itrapped let go of chance, getting one more kiss on the forehead to hold him over.
Finally, Chance pulled up the plate, walking to the door. He turned back, looking at Itrapped, before opening the door and setting the food outside.
Out of sight, out of mind.
At least it was gone. That’s what Itrapped wanted. Just as quickly as he got up, Chance got back into bed and wrapped his arms around Itrapped, who made another whine. “There, there. I’m here.”
