Menace Travels

Summary:

The moonlight kept through the abandoned building, surrounded by the dark and gloomy woods where the two girls were standing in the front of the building. “Are you really sure that you want to go inside?” Violet said with a nervous voice. Her big blue eyes, glanced over the building maybe for the 100th time.

“Oh come on, we are experienced on this! And, what is this nervousness all of a sudden? We did this many times before.” Willow said while rolling her eyes.

“Well maybe last time we did this, we almost burned the whole place down!”

“It wasn’t our fault that some homeless man threw his cigarette butts on the ground.”

“We were nearly going to be kidnapped by that man!” As she cried out.

”But we didn’t.” Willow said with a deadpanned voice as she entered the spooky building as following the lead.

“Whatever, whatever” She muttered as she trailed behind her, while letting a huge sigh.

Willow and Violet thought exploring an abandoned library would be fun until everything went wrong, time traveling 21 years into past were their parents lived would be fun, right?

Notes:

Chapter Text

…………………………….

As they entered the building, the heavy smell of old books, mixing with the decaying, damp wood was making their nose wrinkle, Willow though how this was going to be the best urbex she had ever done. Actually, the thing she was doing technically wasn’t an urbex considering she was probably going to end up stealing a few books.

Violet, walking with unsure steps as her stomach started making weird noises because of the heavy smell ”This place looks like it could collapse with a single gust of wind.”

“Apparently, it was built in the 1700s by a rich witch who burnt herself after getting in a irreversible spell.” She said calmly with an excited voice while looking around curiously.

Violet’s eyes got wider about the each fact about this creepy place, but she even more confused how the hell her bestie was dropping these facts like she was telling the freaking weather!

They continued walking around the library, despite Violet’s countless complaints “ Ugh, i can’t imagine how many spiders would be there”, “My shirt is gonna get ruined!” were just a few of them, which every complain made Willow roll her eyes even harder.

…………….

The library was huge. Finally, after going upstairs, they reached the room they really wanted to go. Actually the room where Willow wanted to go. She was sure that Violet didn’t wanted to look for old spell books. She was only doing these exploring abandoned places with her because: 1. She loves her. 2. She is her best friend. And lastly, 3. She doesn’t have any choice, she has to tag along her every single time.

The architecture was terrifyingly fascinating. The elegant tall and black walls, wide windows where the only light source is moonlight, the dusty old wooden shelfs with dozens of books on it, the turtle patterned dated wallpaper, the musty and earthy atmosphere smell mixed with dried dahlias and intense candle scent…. Ah, her favorite smell. Willow took a deep breath until she could feel its scent to her very bones. The tension of this library was different from the other one she have visited. Even though she had the ability of feeling the spirits around her, but this place was on another level. Every spirit were screaming her to get them out of this place, and that thrilled her more than anything else.

Suddenly, the sound of a door slamming echoed through the library. Both looked at each other with an expression of shock and astonishment. The books an the shelf shook due to the sound.

”What was that?” Violet spoke with a timid voice.

“Nothing, it was probably the wind, let’s continue.” The curly haired girl lied, to keep Violet calm but simply, it was not going to work out because she was smart enough to know that there was no wind outside.

”But there is no wind outside, this place is definitely haunted!… Oh no, what if we get kidnapped actually this time, or even die! No,no no no i don’t want to die before i have my ”sweet sixteen” birthday!” She cried out.

“Enough! Stop being dramatic and hand me the flashlight, i want to look at some old magic books.”

”Ugh, you are impossible to convenience!” She grumbled, “Wait, what flashlight?”

”I handed you a flashlight before entering here.”

“You did?”

“Can’t believe you already lost it.” Willow muttered, while rolling her eyes harder this time. Luckily, she was prepared because Willow new this was going to happen so, she had an extra flashlight. Getting closer to the dusty shelfs, Willow got on her tippy toe and picked up the first book that caught her eye, touching by the books skin, she immediately recognized that it was turtle leather again. The amount of turtle patterned and leather things she saw was somehow symbolic, she thought. Wiping the dust on the book cover, she noticed that it had no title or anything written on it. Opening the book, first pages were blank. As swiping through the pages, she came across with a poem? She wasn’t really sure if it was a poem but the style was pretty much similar to the ones her mom had at their own library at home.

”Look! I think i found a poem!” She told Violet who she was busy with flicking through some books, “Ooo, a poem? I love poems, read it out loud!”

“It is in a different language.”

”Really?” Violet raised an eyebrow, “Show me!”

She came closer to Violet, both started looking at the pages with confused eyes, trying to understand what was it about.

Yaş otuz beş, yolun yarısı eder.                               “ Şakaklarıma kar mı yağdı? Ne var?

Dante gibi ortasındayız ömrün.                                  Benim mi Allahım bu çizgili yüz?

Delikanlı çağımızdaki cevher,                                     Ya gözler altındaki mor halkalar?

 Yalvarmak, yakanmak nafile bugün,                           Neden böyle düşman görünürsünüz;

Gözünün yaşına bakmadan gider.”                             Yıllar yılı dost bildiğim aynalar.”

“Uhh i definitely don’t understand that.” Violet said, her voice confused as ever.

“I don’t neither.” Willow said, while curiosity filled up her voice.

”Hey, aren’t you the master of languages, you don’t understand this one?”

”I can only speak four. And i am not mastered on that yet.” Raising her eyebrow at her.

Only?! Girl i would be unstoppable if i could speak that many languages.” Suddenly, a big smile grew on Violet’s face,

“You can speak French fluently right?” Asked, still with a big smile on her face,

”Yeah, Why?” She raised her eyebrow with this unexpected question.

“Oh definitely have to teach me French, so i could write my poems in French!” Her face lit up with excitement, her smile got even wider,

”So what you could write your lame love poems to Tony?” She smirked.

”Hey! He likes my poems!”  “ And, they are not lame!”  This time her face became angry, that made Willow smirk harder.

“I was just kidding! Anyways, let’s move on. I am done with this room”

She shoved the book inside of her backpack, Violet asked:

“What are you gonna do with that book? Aren’t you looking for some weird spell book or something like that?” Grimaced her face, “Plus, isn’t this considered as stealing?!”

Although she was right, she was looking for spell books and book to guide her how to unlock multiple powers, she didn’t told Violet about that yet but this poem book was a mystery and nothing excited her as much as mysteries.

”How can it be stealing if the place is already abandoned and, i have to learn what was written on that poem.” Said with a final voice, walking through to an another room.

”Of course you do” Violet, with a defeated tone.

They stood in front of an closed door, it was covered with boards arranged in a crisscross because the doorknob was broken.

“I don’t think we are supposed to go in there.” Looking at Willow with an expression of disgust and fear,

“Oh but we will.” She grinned like the cheiser cat,

”So, we are really gonna break the door?” She frowned, analyzing the door,

”Well duh, use your werewolf strength!”

”Isn’t your hyde strength enough for you?” She howled at her, her face turning red.

”No!” Willow shouted back at her in this situation, they really looked like two toddlers fighting for the last piece of chocolate.

“Okay, okay” she snorted. Just as they both raised their feet to break the door, they heard another sound. But this time, it was more like a whisper? They slowly and silently lowered their feet and looked at each other with frightened expression.

“Did the sound come from behind this door” She clutched up Willow’s arm, face still in a horrified expression.

They both stood still for five seconds, “Let’s go.” She grabbed Violet’s wrist tightly, both of them started running through until they reached to another room.

The room they have reached was small but it had a huge bookcase. The black bookcase looked like it could open? Yeah it was definitely a secret door, Willow thought. She picked up the sacramento green book, hoping that it would be a spell book to reach her goal. When she opened the book, instead of spell words, there was only one sentence written in the book:

Follow the tunnel into the portal…..”

Follow the tunnel into the portal…..” Willow muttered, touching the papyrus paper with her fingers, looked at the bookcase again.

“ What did you say?” Violet asked, while glancing at her.

” Violet, this bookcase opens into a portal!” She said excitedly, counting all the possibilitys how they can open the portal,

”A portal?” Violet chuckled, “ You are telling me that this old bookcase opens into a portal?” grimaced her face again, “ Don’t be ridiculous.”

“I am not! I am being dead serious, the books says it!” Her face slowly turning red. Of course Violet wouldn’t believe her.

”So what, we are supposed to believe what an old book says? It’s likely nothing.” She said with unconcerned tone.

”We have to try it!” Trying to convenience her to do something probably reckless but she couldn’t care less, it would be her first experience to travel into a portal.

”Willow i am tired, can we do this in a another time?” With a tired voice, exhaling hardly,

”But we can’t let this opportunity slip away, you are going back to San Francisco in two days after that we will never have the chance!” Her tone saddened, “Please?” Looking at her with her convincing puppy eyes.

”Fine but if another incident happens, we are literally going to be banned from seeing each other for a long time!” Violet already could image the lecturing she would get but for Willow, it would be the opposite! Sometimes she was jealous of Willow’s mom about how she was chill in situations like this, or she thought.

”That would be because of your overprotective mother’s behavior.” She said with tone sharper than a knife.

”Says whose dad took her out of her old school just because a teacher was being close to her.” Violet spat back at her, raising her eyebrow.

Willow rolled her eyes. Even though there was nothing weird between with her teacher, she was just her favorite teacher. She didn’t think that he was being overprotective, just protective. Plus now that she hyded out, both of her parents were being protective over her which Willow thought it was kind of annoying. But she understood her father’s concerns about what he had gone through when he was a teenager.

“Okay enough with this argument now, we have to figure out how to open the portal.” Willow said, still clenching the book.

”What if we just push the bookcase?”

“You think it would be that easy? Just by pushing it?” Willow was expecting for something more complicated and harder.

”Yeah, we can try it. If it turns out to be something a lot more difficult, i am definitely not doing it” Violet said dramatically, still she didn’t believe that they were going to enter a portal, only doing this for Willow’s sake.

”Okay now i’m gonna count down from three, and we are going to push the door. Got it?” She said while putting the book back to the shelf, which was going to be a huge mistake.

Violet nodded as they placed both their hands on the bookcase, switched to push mode,

”Are you ready?” She asked

Violet took a deep breath, by not showing the fear inside of her, “Yes.”

“3…..2…..1 Push!”

As they pushed the bookcase, dust scattered everywhere like a smoke, making their vision completely destroyed. The last thing she heard was Violet’s screams as the world plunged into darkness………

………………………

The cold weather hit like a crack to Willow’s bones, helping to snap out of her unconscious. She slowly woke up , vision still kind of blurry. She didn’t remembered what happened besides Violet’s screams before the world went black. First, she looked around her and realized that they were in the freaking woods, lying on the cold ground. Then looked besides her and saw Violet lying face down, unconscious. She realized that they were so much in trouble.

She crawled beside her nervously, said:

”Violet wake up, Violet!” She yelled, waking her up,

”Mhm what’s happening.” She murmured, slowly getting her conscious back, “Willow, were are we?” She said angrily, voice confused and scared at the same time.

”I don’t know” She said, helping Violet to stand up thinking all the possibility's of how and why did they end up here.

“What do you mean you don’t know! This was your idea!” She said while panicking,

”Come on, it seems like we aren’t deep in the woods.” Trying to keep Violet calm, even though she was panicking inside too, just not showing it.

………………

After walking like for 10 minutes, listening Violet’s complaints about how she told her to not do anything dangerous or how she told her to “Not go inside that library”, blah blah blah. It wasn’t even completely her fault, she agreed to do this too! Finally they started seeing some people. They kept walking until they have reached a crowded area. Passing through people and then they saw the huge sign;

WELCOME TO JERICHO!”

Of course, The hellhole town Jericho, Willow thought,

”A- are we in Jericho!?” Violet shouted while looking at the crowded town center.

“Yes, yes we are!” Looking at the sign over and over again,

”Why the hell we end up here and, what year are we even in?” She yelled, walking towards to the women besides her,

”Hey, Violet don’t talk with anyone!” She screamed, trying not to attract attention. Started running towards her, but it was too late, she was already asking,

”Um excuse me?” The lady turned towards her, “ What year are we in?” Violet asked nervously,

The red headed woman looked at them like if they were joking with her, raising her eyebrow, “2025”

Both of the girls eyes got wider, “2025? As in two thousand twenty five”

The woman glanced them weirdly then started walking away, leaving the girls clueless. They both looked at each other. At the same time:

”No freaking way!”

……………………

They were sitting on the bench, in front of the Weathervane Cafe after Violet’s thousands of crash outs, Willow’s mistake of not putting the book in her bag that let them time travel, trying to figure out what they can do to go back to their timeline,

”I still can’t believe we are in the past now. Plus 21 years!? Are you kidding me!.” She sighed, “What are we gonna do now, you left that book back at the library. That book could have helped us!”

”Me neither and, don’t remind me that.” Lowered her face down, she hated making mistakes but her dad’s words about making mistakes calmed her down, helped her to think about this situation correctly. Suddenly, her face lit up brighter than a light bulb,

“We are in Jericho, Right?” She asked,

”I fear that we already know that, why are you asking this?”

”Do you realize what place is located in Jericho?” Willow kept asking her.

”No? I guess.” Trying to understand what Willow trying to say,

”Nevermore” she whispered. Violet’s eyes got wider, the realization slowly started hitting her,

”But what are we gonna do at Nevermore?”

“There is supposed to be a library at the school, even though i’m boycotting there we still can find some books that might help us. And maybe my mom even can help us.” She grinned, excited over the possibility of working together with the younger version of her mom.

”Oh my god! That means i can see my parents in their Nevermore years! She jumped up down excitedly, “ But the real this is, how do we get there?”

Willow cunningly glanced over the taxi on the busy traffic road,

Violet looked at her and then looked at the taxi, “By taxi?” Puzzled expression on her face,

”By stealing the taxi” she stood up, sneakily smirked at her.

Notes:

Turtles represent immortality and eternity in Turkish mythology, so i have wanted to include that🤭

And yes, the meaning of the poem is why they time travel and why there is a portal in the library.

The names, Dahlia is kind of overused for weyler so i have decided to use Willow. And *Sigh* still mourning over enjax so this was the perfect opportunity to use! The name Violet just randomly came up and i thought it matched with Willow lol.

For the next chapter we are going to get into different povs, such as Wednesday’s.

The girls might seem to argue a lot in this episode but don’t worry, they get along really well😁
