Chapter Text
Dandy walked through the muddy, rainy forest, his boots making prints in the ground. He shined his flashlight around as he looked for something.. or- someone.
"Astro!- Are you out there?" The flower called out loudly. His boyfriend, Astro had been missing for days upon days now- and he had started to get worried.
The moon traveled off into the forest to collect some fresh berries- he'd said he'd be back soon to the flower when leaving, but he never came back, obviously.
Dandy shivered from the cold rain hitting his body and drenching his clothes. "It just had to rain now.. didn't it?.." Dandy stared at his surroundings, he tried to see if there were any traces of the toon left behind.
Dandy glanced around once more- before he saw a footprint in the ground, just faintly.. when he looked up- he saw more. A smile appeared on the flowers face, maybe- just maybe, this could be Astro!
"Got to follow them before they get washed away!" Dandy ran, following the foot prints in the mud, he saw that they led up to a higher point, in which he had to climb... He grabbed onto the ledge, slowly pulling himself up- being as short as he is- it was quite the challenge.
Dandy huffed as he finally got up fully, laying on the grass and staring up at the dark, cloudy sky. "Finally.." Dandy sighed, going to get up.. though, he was stopped in his tracks when he saw a flash of white light rip through the sky- and loud sounds of thunder.
Dandy swallowed in fear, getting up. "Okay- just have to find Astro.. Then I can get out of this rain.." Dandy sighed, following the foot prints once again. "Hopefully nothing else too bad happe-"
Dandy paused, he looked up to where the foot prints led and he saw..
A giant mansion. The windows had red light in them, making the place more eerily creepy then it already was, the footprints stopped at the doorstep. "He couldn't have went in there.. right?.." Dandy walked closer to the entrance, his heart pounding. No.. Astro definitely went in there.
Well, if it even WAS Astro in the first place..
"He just.. had to go in there. Didn't he." Dandy sighed he stepped up on the doorstep, bringing his hand to the doorbell and ringing it. "Hello?! Anyone home?.."
No response..
"Uhm- I'm just looking for my boyfriend- I was just wondering if he- came in here!" Dandy cleared his throat, ringing it again. "To this.. very.. scary mansion.." Dandy mumbled.
"Hello!?" Dandy's hand moved over to knock on the door- but when he hit it- it creaked open. "..."
' Okay! There's definitely- NOTHING! Weird about that! Yea! Scary mansion, unlocked door? Definitely NOT a death trap!..' Dandy thought, then sighed. "You're lucky I love you, Astro.." He mumbled, then walked in.
"I don't mean to intrude! It's just- your door is open- and- and!" Dandy shouted out, looking around at the place when he walked in. "Oh im talking to nobody- aren't i?" Dandy stomped his foot.
He looked down, he saw that mud had gotten onto the red carpet that was on the ground.. Dandy reached down to take off his shoes.. I mean, he had to be polite.. or something.
Dandy walked around, looking at the interior of the entrance. There were two sets of stairs leading to the upstairs of the mansion infront- and different sets of picture frames with different toons in them, including one that looked like..
Astro?.. Well.. No. It couldn't- The moon on the frame had red skin and fangs, Astro had light blue and didn't obviously have fangs.
Dandy walked around more around the entrance- before he finally decided that- that Astro couldn't be in here! I mean- Astro was smart,, so he'd knew that this place was creepy- and dangerous! So dandy headed to the door, grabbing the door handle and twisting it-
..?
It won't budge.
Dandy panicked- pulling at the door handle with all his strength- ' Just open already! Please- please- please PLEAS- ' Dandy accidentally pulled off the doorknob..
Looking at the knob in his hand- a sense of dread filled his entire body.. He couldn't be stuck here.. there must be a backdoor- this place is huge! There must be a backdoor- somewhere!
Dandy's breathing increased, starting to get more worked up by the second. ' This- this can't be happening- i Can't.. I won't.. I just!- ' Dandy's thoughts were broken by a loud crash of thunder and flash of lightning outside.. Dandy jumped back- falling on the hard wood floor.
Dandy breathed in- and sighed. "Okay.. I just have to-" He was interrupted ( again ) by a sudden hum- behind him..
The tune almost sounded like the one Astro used to calm him down in certain situations- but.. He could tell it wasn't Astro. The pitch was just a little too low then usual, and it sounded just- off.
Dandy turned his head around, staring at-
A toon that looked like Astro.
Why just- ' Looked like ' ?
Well..
This moon was red, and had fangs poking out of their mouth, just like the one in the picture he saw, but they also had a long blanket and hat, the same as Astro's, just longer then usual..
The toon slowly hummed the tune, as while slowly walking down the staircase.
Dandy just sat there- and watched- i mean- what else was he expected to do?.. (run?)
The toon finally finished humming and walking down the stairs, walking up to Dandy, with a sultry look on their face. "Now.. what do we have here?.." They crouched down to Dandy, looking him in the eyes.
Dandy gulped, he could feel the toon staring into their soul.. like they were judging it.
They chuckled, licking their lips. "Well, up you go, dear." They reached out with a red star, picking up Dandy and dusting the flower off. the same power that Astro had..
Now this was weird..
"Dear..?" Dandy mumbled, staring up at the moon. "Dear. Yes. You don't remember me calling you that?.." The moon tilted his head.
"No-i- I don't even know you at all.." Dandy raised a eyebrow, confused.
"Hmm.. Well, Dear.. I'm Astro, Of course."
' Astro?.. No.. it- it doesn't make sense.. '
"But.. Astro- isn't.." Dandy started to say- but the moon shushed him with a star.
"I am.. Dandy. I am." Astro lifted two of his lower arms out of his blanket, cupping Dandy's face and rubbing them with his thumbs.. Dandy shivered, Astro's hands were so.. Cold. And lifeless, so different from the toon that he knew and loved..
"I..- I.." Dandy stuttered- he didn't know what to think of this.. "It's okay Dandy. Just take it slow.. Lot's to process, hmm?.." Astro continued to caress Dandy's face.
Dandy's eyes darted between the moon and the ground.. "This doesn't make any sense.. How are you.."
"I could show you." Astro leaned back, still having that smile on his face.. but..
It looked more mischievous.
What did Astro have up his slee- blanket..
"How could-..." Dandy questioned.. He wasn't immediately going to trust this.
"Well.. If you didn't notice from the fangs.." Astro lifted up one of his higher arms, opening his mouth and rubbing the two sharp fangs in his mouth.
Dandy stared at the two fangs for a moment, his brain slowly clicking everything together.
Astro is a blood moon.
He's a vampire.
And dandy just stepped right into his trap..
Dandy backed up, his face turning into one of horror.
Astro sat up, adjusting his posture, he grinned. "Now you're getting it."
A bolt of lightning came down, making the lights go out for a moment- so the white light from the bolt was the only thing lightning the room.
The shadows ran across the moons face, making him look terrifying.
The lights came back on, and Dandy continued to backup towards the door- With Astro following every step he took.
"Dandyy.." Astro stretched out his name a bit, calling out to the flower. "I'm still the same person, please- dont leave." Astro said it in a fake sadness, trying to get Dandy to stay.
"No- you aren't- you aren't him!" Dandy stepped back until he hit the door, looking to grab the doorknob- he found that it had been taken off.
' Shit. He forgot. '
Dandy gulped, looking back at the Blood moon towering over him, with a blood thirsty glint in his eyes. "Dandy.." Astro leaned down, reaching out a hand, that somehow were shaped like claws now, and tilted his chin up just a little bit.
"I could turn you- like me. And we'd be together, in this mansion, forever.." Astro pricked Dandys chin with a claw, swiping some blood from the cut and licking it with his tongue.
Dandy winced in slight pain from the prick. "A-astro. That-.."
"Hurt?.." Astro titled his head, wiping his finger on his own blanket. "Well- What im about to do- will be much worse, Dear."
Astro tilted Dandy's head to the side- leaned down and bit Dandy's shoulder with his fangs, aggressively.
Dandy screamed out in pain, tears forming in his eyes- he could feel the blood gushing out from his arm, but he could also feel something being injected into him.
He could feel his life slipping farther and farther away.. Until everything blacked out..

Dandy woke up in a cold sweat- heart rate fast- and panicked- his arm throbbed and his ears were ringing.. he felt like he was about to throw up.
His whole body hurt. This felt like hell.
Dandy's senses started to come back- and he looked around the room. He was in a bedroom, in a soft bed- Dandy tilted his head slightly, not to cause any more pain. He noticed there was a cup on the side of the bed..
He just realized he was insanely parched- and he needed water. Or any liquid- at this point.
Dandy grabbed the cup, seeing that there was liquid inside- but it looked red and dark, but the flower couldn't care.
So, he tilted up to his lips, chugging it down. It was warm- and sweet?..
What was this?..
Dandy felt slightly better when he drank it, but as soon as he went to put the cup back down, he heard the door open.
He looked at the door, seeing Astro with a soft smile on his face. "Heyy.. You're finally awake. I've been waiting." Astro's quiet voice broke through the ' silence.. '
Astro stepped in the room, Dandy just stared at the moon. "What did you-" Dandy's voice was raspy. "Do to me..?"
"I did the best thing that could ever happen to you, Dandy." Astro moved closer to the flower, sitting on the edge of the bed. "I turned you into a vampire."
Dandy gasped. "I-i need to see myself."
Astro chuckled. "Go right ahead." Astro pointed to a full length mirror that was facing a wall.
Dandy stood up and stumbled went he got up, heading to the mirror that was turned around, he grabbed it and slowly pulled it over, when looking into it he gasped at what he saw.. it was.. nothing.
Astro smiled, walking over to Dandy. "Oh dear.. You know nothing about being a vampire in the first place.. dont you?.. You're like a little fawn, so new to this world.." Astro patted the flowers shoulder while he was still flabbergasted by not seeing himself in the mirror.
"Mmm.. But don't worry. I'll teach you all the things to know." Astro leaned back, looking back at the bed- he noticed the cup that Dandy had drank from was completely empty, he looked a bit shocked at first, but his smile came back.
"Dandy." Astro called out to the flower.
Dandy turned around, a hopeless look in his eyes. "what.."
"You drank it?" Astro pointed at the empty cup.
Dandy glanced at the cup. "y-yea. what was in there?.."
"Hmm.." Astro glanced between the cup and the flower. "Blood- A Toons blood." Astro giggled. "Seems like your already adjusting... My guess, since you chugged it down."
' What?..
A toons.. What? '
...
"I drank.."
"Yup."
"..." Dandy glanced between the cup and the moon, he started to feel sick.. like he was going to hurl if he stood up any longer..
His stomach churned- like it had realized the same time as him. Dandy gulped, covering his mouth.
Astro titled his head.. He almost felt a sense of pity for the flower, he sighed, getting up and moving towards Dandy.
"It's normal to drink blood as a vampire, Dandicus." Astro reassured him, or atleast tried to. "But-" Dandy started. "But I'm not. Im not a vampire- i-"
Dandy held his stomach. "God- I think im gonna be sick- I drank blood- a toon's blood.." Dandy crouched over, staring at the ground, he muttered a low- ' fuck. ' under his breath.
Astro just stood there with a silent, small frown on his face, he quietly moved one of his hands, putting his hand on Dandy's back.
Dandy turned his head, looking up at the moon behind him. "Who's-" Dandy let out a low exhale- "Who's was it?.."
Astro stared at Dandy for a moment. "Are you sure you want to know, Dandy?"
Dandy just nodded. "I-i need to know.."
Astro nodded. "Boxten. The mail man that came around our town. He was a wonderful toon, sure, kind and sweet.. but he shouldn't have came here." Astro sighed, watching the expression change on dandys face.
"Boxten."
Dandy looked back towards the ground..
' Boxten. Really? He was missing as well, but i didn't expect that he'd.. '
Dandy could almost imagine Boxten just going to deliver mail to this mansion, and getting ripped apart in the cold, dark night, and his blood getting used for something to drink.
Disgusting.
Dandy even found the boys blood sweet, not the tangy, metal taste blood always had tasted like. This was horrible.
He was really a vampire, wasn't he?
"How could you kill him..? He had done nothing wrong.." Dandy adjusted his posture, looking up at Astro. "It's life, Dandy. Everyone needs to eat." Astro said nonchalantly. "You couldn't do anyone else!?- Like.. - like.." Dandy searched for answers, but he had none.
"You'll come to understand it, Dandy. And I'll wait for that day when you finally do as well." Astro nodded, the hand that was on Dandy's back slinked back under Astro's blanket. Astro turned around, heading to the door.
Dandy watched Astro walk to the door, staying silent. He didn't even question where he was going.
Astro glanced back at Dandy behind him, "Get some rest, Dandy. For me, please."
Then Astro left..
Leaving Dandy alone, in this cold, dark room.
Dandy just stared at the door for a few more moments, then sighed.
He walked past the mirror that wasn't showing his reflection, and he climbed into the bed- the place where he woke up in the first place. He also made sure to put the cup of blood very far away from him.
Dandy pulled the blankets over him, staring up at the ceiling. Was this really his life..?
Living as a vampire?
Dandy brought his hands up to his mouth, feeling the small fangs that had replaced his canines.
He sighed, closing his eyes.
This was really his life now.
