Chapter Text
On Saturday, Draco was nervous.
Of course, Theo, Blaise, and Pansy would be there — but so would Harry's friends.
Potter, being a typical Gryffindor, had immediately liked the idea of the dinner and telling everyone about their relationship.
He had even agreed with the word relationship.
Warmth spread through Draco's chest at the thought.
Honestly. Potter.
Draco had put on his best semi-formal robes. He had already changed at least ten thousand times.
This had to be the final outfit.
Harry walked into the room and snorted.
"Draco, is it your wedding day or something?"
Draco looked himself up and down again.
"Fuck off. It's elegant, Potter. Obviously you wouldn't know what that means."
Harry chuckled and walked up behind him, wrapping his arms around Draco's waist.
He rested his chin on Draco's shoulder.
"Love, stop worrying. You survived dinner with the Weasleys. This can't possibly be worse."
Draco frowned at the memory and muttered, "Nothing could ever be worse than dinner with the Weasleys."
He turned to face Harry.
"Are you sure you want to tell them about us? What if this is…" He stopped, feeling his face go red.
Harry waited patiently, gently rubbing circles against the small of Draco's back.
"What if this…" Draco gestured vaguely between the two of them. "What if it doesn't last?"
Something hurt flickered across Potter's face.
"Maybe yours won't," Harry said quietly. "Mine's forever."
Draco stared at him for a moment, completely thrown off by the quiet certainty in Potter's voice.
Idiot.
"You're being revoltingly sincere again," Draco muttered weakly.
Harry grinned. "You love it."
Unfortunately, Draco did.
"I love you," he said quietly.
It was Harry's turn to freeze.
He looked like he'd just been struck by lightning.
Draco immediately frowned. "Oh, for Merlin's sake, don't make it weird. You said it first anyway."
Harry grinned.
"Don't ruin the moment," he mumbled, kissing him before Draco could get embarrassed and take it back.
"We're going to be late," Draco complained against his mouth a few minutes later.
Potter only hummed and kissed him again.

They Apparated to Granger and Weasley's house.
Pansy, who had apparently already arrived, immediately hurried over to Draco and kissed both his cheeks.
"You look amazing, love."
Draco shot Harry a meaningful look.
Harry only shrugged.
"What? I never said it doesn't look good."
Hermione and a somewhat overly red Weasley came over to greet them as well.
"Hermione. Weasley," Draco greeted with a nod.
Hermione looked oddly pleased at hearing her first name.
Weasley nodded back awkwardly.
"Harry. Malfoy. Nice to see you both."
Draco could already hear voices coming from the dining room.
Blaise was sprawled across one of the chairs, looking deeply offended about something, while Theo appeared far too entertained by it.
Ginny spotted them first.
"I knew it," she said, satisfied. "I recognised that smitten look on Harry's face straight away."
Harry looked embarrassed.
Draco looked at Ginny in disbelief.
"What?"
She laughed.
Theo and Blaise decided to intervene.
"Oh please. You were obvious. We even had a bet," Blaise informed them immediately.
"You WHAT?" Draco hissed.
Blaise looked completely unapologetic.
"To be fair, I said it would happen months ago," Theo added.
Traitors.
Ron cleared his throat.
"I suppose I knew it too. Harry was bloody obsessed with you in sixth year."
Draco looked at Harry smugly, raising one brow in question.
Potter groaned, clearly embarrassed.
Pansy broke the moment.
"Can we eat, or are we just going to keep watching Potter suffer?"
"I'm enjoying it," Blaise grinned.
Draco wanted to hit him with something heavy.
Throughout the dinner, their friends kept casually dropping comments about his and Harry's relationship.
Draco wanted to kill them all.
And now, just like that, Pansy turned to Harry.
"Draco was a wreck too, you know? He was all alone and sad."
Draco shot her a murderous look.
What the fuck?
Theo and Blaise nodded seriously, as if confirming her words.
Hermione intervened as well.
"I agree. Harry was also horribly lonely and… broken."
Draco looked at Harry.
Harry had a strange look on his face.
Draco reached under the table and found his hand, squeezing it.
Harry squeezed back.
Draco nudged him lightly with his shoulder and whispered:
"Don't worry. You and me won't be alone anymore."
Across the table, Pansy was still talking. Blaise was still laughing. Theo was trying to flirt with Ginny.
What’s wrong with him?
Ron looked like he was questioning all his life choices at once.
Draco exhaled.
The noise of the table faded into something distant and unimportant.
For the first time, he felt like he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
Harry's hand was still in his, and Draco finally believed it would last.
The end
