Chapter Text
[Nagi]
The rooftop breeze was supposed to quiet the noise in Nagi's head, but it was failing miserably.
For three straight weeks, his mind had been replaying that one moment from the lockers.
It was exhausting.
Those warm, pitying eyes from the corridor.
Reo Mikage.
Thinking about someone took far too much effort, yet Nagi’s brain refused to delete the image. It was a glitch in his otherwise beautifully empty system.
The rooftop was supposed to be somewhere Nagi could escape from the noisy corridors and rush of school life.
It was one of his hideouts his bullies had not discovered, so he found himself frequenting the rooftop more and more.
He knew it wasn't long before his peace and quiet was interrupted.
He just didn't expect it to be today.
The heavy metal rooftop door groaned open.
Nagi didn't move. He kept his eyes shut, letting his spine press hard against the concrete, praying that if he stayed perfectly still, whoever it was would just see him as a piece of discarded school equipment and walk away.
Please, please just go away.
"So this is where you hide, Nagi Seishiro."
Nagi’s eyes snapped open. The breath caught in his throat.
Standing directly over him, completely blocking out the sun, was the exact boy from his thoughts.
Reo Mikage.
Up close, the sheer vibrancy of him was overwhelming. His purple hair caught the midday light, looking almost electric and his eyes, still as bright as ever was staring straight into his grey ones.
A wave of panic and adrenaline flooded Nagi’s veins. His heart did a violent, agonizing flip against his ribs.
Why is the golden boy here?
Is he going to mock me?
Is he going to use his power to make my life even more of a hassle?
Worse than the fear of being bullied was the sudden, suffocating proximity of those brilliant eyes.
Before Reo could take another step or utter another word, Nagi’s body reacted on pure survival instinct.
There were times where Nagi's body moved on its own accord with a speed that he didn't seem capable of.
He scrambled to his feet, his long limbs uncoiling with a sudden, jarring speed.
His heart was hammering so loudly it echoed in his ears.
Without a single word, Nagi pushed past Reo, entirely ignoring the startled gasp that left the shorter boy's lips.
Nagi bolted through the rooftop door and flew down the stairwell, his chest aching from the sudden burst of energy.
He didn't look back. He just needed to escape the terrifying, gravitational pull of Reo Mikage.
Nagi was scared but a small part of him and also seen the look in Reos eye.
He didn't look like he wanted to hurt Nagi.
He looked curious.
It made Nagi terrified because-
Nagi was curious too.

[Reo]
Nagi Seishiro.
He had spent the entire morning tracking the name, bypassing his usual flock of sycophants with effortless, practiced excuses.
For the first time in his life, Reo wasn't bored.
When he finally pushed open the heavy metal door to the school rooftop, the sudden gust of wind caught his purple hair.
He scanned the concrete sanctuary, and there he was.
The white-haired boy was lying flat on his back, eyes closed, looking so entirely detached from reality that he almost blended into the gray concrete.
Up close, Nagi was staggering. His long limbs were sprawled out carelessly, and even in deep repose, there was a strange, magnetic grace to him that Reo couldn't pull his eyes away from.
Reo took a step forward, a genuine, unpracticed smile tugging at his lips.
"So this is where you hide, Nagi Seishiro."
The moment the words left Reo's mouth, Nagi’s eyes snapped open.
Reo caught his breath. From a distance, Nagi's eyes had looked like a dull slate, but up close, they were a stormy, swirling gray.
For a split second, Reo stood frozen under that gaze, captivated by the sheer, raw honesty in them. There was no fake smile. No hidden agenda. Just pure, unadulterated shock.
Before Reo could even take another step, Nagi scrambled backward. The sheer speed of it made Reo’s eyes widen. In a flash of pure panic, Nagi uncoiled his long frame, his chest heaving as if he were a wild animal backed into a corner.
Reo saw the sudden, frantic pulse in Nagi's throat, the way his stormy eyes fractured with a deep, defensive terror.
Does he think I'm going to hurt him?
Does he think I'm like the others?
But Nagi was already moving. With a sudden burst of explosive, reckless energy, the taller boy lunged forward, charging straight past Reo.
The heat of Nagi’s body brushed against Reo’s shoulder, leaving behind the faint scent of laundry detergent and cool air.
A soft gasp escaped Reo’s lips as Nagi violently threw open the rooftop door, his long legs taking the stairs three at a time, fleeing as if running for his absolute life.
The heavy metal door slammed shut, the loud noise echoing across the empty roof.
Reo stood entirely still in the howling wind, his heart was hammering against his ribs.
What the hell was that?
He didn't think the boy was capable to move that fast.
Nagi looked asleep half the time.
Reos father had said that only chosen people could play pro football.
In that moment Reo knew for sure.
Nagi Seishiro.
He's one of the chosen ones.
