Chapter Text
"I hate you, Saki." Tsukasa breathed as he put down the bouquet of flowers in front of the gravestone. He didn't really mean what he said, but that's all he could muster to say to his sister. After the accident, the boy felt like he could never live happily anymore. Because being happy without Saki is like forgetting her. And that can't happen.
A hand landed on Tsukasa's shoulder, it was Rui's. The only one he could rely on right now. The rest of Wonderlands x Showtime couldn't believe what their leader has become. It's like he's given up on his dreams. And they couldn't do anything about it.
"Tsukasa, we have to go, Nene and Emu's waiting for us."
Rui's reminder has prompted the boy to wipe his tears. His eyes were red and hollow, his smile fake and on the verge of breaking.
"Yeah. And, we have to sing and dance with them."
Tsukasa said through a choked voice, the deep breaths and happy thoughts doing nothing from keeping the tears falling again. All those months of therapy, yet he's back to square one.
The blonde haired boy's knees buckled, his hands covered his face, and the sobbing won't stop. All Rui could do was get on the ground with him and listen, and stay. Because his friend's pain can't be fixed with a drink of ibuprofen.
"I don't... I don't know how to live without her, Rui."
Tsukasa breathes out.
"The more I try to move on, the more something pulls me back to that day."
Several months before, Tsukasa had gotten a text from Saki. It was weirdly vague and told him to go to this cafe they always go to. He asked if she was on her way, and she said that she'll meet him there. That a fun surprise was wating for him. That this will be an unforgettable day for him.
As he stood in front of the door of the cafe, he gets a call from Saki. Naively, he thought, oh, she must be calling to say she'll be late. His phone fell from his hands, his breathing started to become shallow, and a ring rang through his head. His sister's been shot? No, that—that must be a sick joke, she's just right behind this door. She said she had a fun surprise for him. This can't be it, right?
He opened the door, a crowd of people, including Emu, Nene, and Rui, had shouted out, 'Surprise!' With balloons and party hats, and a cake. But instead of the birthday boy being surprised and overwhelmed with joy, all they saw was a hyperventilating and sobbing Tsukasa.
Not long after, they rush to the hospital after having heard of the news. There, instead of being directed to a waiting room or inpatient room, they found themselves in the morgue. There, Saki's body was covered with a blanket, her hands and feet sticking out. There, Tsukasa couldn't even fathom the thought that his sister was dead.
His dear sister, who he used to dance with, who he used to argue with, who he used to sing with, who he used to live with—was dead.
"Everyday, I wake up, and I regret that the last words I said to her wasn't 'I love you.'" Tsukasa looked at Rui with his watery eyes.
"And everyday I regret that I used up all the wrapping paper the week before." He added, a small chuckle coming out of him at the ridiculousness.
But the ridiculousness was enough to get Tsukasa out of his depressive episode. The chuckle turned into a giggle. "Man... It would suck if you got shot too, Rui. I really wouldn't know what to do without both of you."
