Chapter 3: Chapter Three: Falling On My Head Like a New Emotion

Chapter Text

Sam looked at his father, he wasn't looking all tense like he used to. He wasn't sure if it was because he wasn't looking all too intimidating as he was used to. All those years, his dad was the scariest person alive. He always had that frown on his face. He didn’t know if it was different or he was just older and his perception of his dad changed. John tended to be alert all the time. He couldn’t blame him, maybe he wasn’t understanding back then but the apocalypse changed everything for Sam. He wasn’t the man he used to be he was thinking all the time, looking at the horizon while his dad drove the car. Why did he come to the past? What did he need to change to save his family, the world?

It had been 2 months since they were on the hunt together. Sam didn’t expect his father to have him this long, but John surprised him. Actually, he was thinking of parting ways after the first hunt, but he couldn’t. This was his family, his dead family… Sam didn’t know that if he would have a chance to see them again. So, every day he said, "Just this one more hunt, then I will be gone." That day never came, and 2 months passed by in a heartbeat.

Dean and Sammy were sitting in the back arguing about something. Sammy was angry at something that wasn’t even important. Sam remembered those days. He was beginning to get taller day by day. Still looking like a child but he knew that he was feeling all grown up even at that age. He was taller than Dean at the age of 15. So, he should have more than a year to catch up. To be real probably Dean wasn’t even guilty. Sam remembered that he was just picking up fights at that age. He was angry at his brother, his father, the world. At this point more at his brother. Dean was beginning to ignore Sammy a lot. Little to Sammy’s knowing this will continue until he goes to university. For the last years of them being together, Dean was a complicated person to understand. One day he was all affectionate and one day he was all running from Sammy. To this day, Sam didn’t know why he did that. He knew that his brother loved him more than the world, but he had a tendency to become distant sometimes.

John was insisting that Sam sit in the shotgun for the last few weeks. At first, he thought that he was trying to keep a closer eye on him, which was definitely one reason, then he realized that his dad was enjoying his company. He was still a lot younger than his dad, specifically 17 years younger, however he was an adult and a hunter. They had a lot to talk about. He even thinks that his relationship with his father was better than ever. Of course, he couldn’t tell him about lots of things but not like his father would have searched on Google to check if his hunts were real. If he would admit they were very much like each other.

Dean was looking different, too; he was looking a lot younger than he remembered. He was trying to prove himself a lot. Which sometimes leads to unwanted situations. Dean liked Sam. At first, he was a little distant because Sam wasn’t an everyday person. Sam knew that he was intimidating; he was a 6’4’’ well built hunter. However, he was faster to trust Sam than his father. Sam even realized that Dean was looking up to him. Which was in a simple way of saying weird as shit. It was always Sam looking up to Dean not the other way around.

Dean was asking how to get fit like him. He even tried to change his diet a little. Which itself could be an apocalypse omen. They had their daily training together. John wasn’t training like he used to, but he was still brutal on the kids. However, he left the job to Sam for the last few weeks. He was basically responsible for their training schedule. You would think that he was easier on them than John, but he wasn’t. He even risked being less liked by them. Sammy was of course furious with him too. They argued a lot. Sam didn’t understand how people were enduring him back then. Sometimes he was just being a brat. Ah, Sam was starting to sound like his father. However, there were two of him so searching was a lot faster than before. He was even trying to create some time for Sammy to do his schoolwork. Which Sammy was grateful for.

---

Dean thought tried to keep his calm, but Sammy was giving him a tough time. He didn’t understand why he was like this. He used Sammy’s underwear by accident which he realized the same day and returned it at once. However, the clean freak was furious. Dean just wanted to close the topic. He was embarrassed that Sam would hear the conversation and think that he was a child. If Sammy continues to talk about how dirty Dean is, how he doesn’t change his clothes for days, how he is not even showering properly, he might strangle him.

He was trying to appear as an adult okay. They were not by themselves on the road anymore. There was Sam too. Having two Sam’s was a little complicated so they began to call his brother Sammy all the time. Which was another thing Sammy being angry about. But what could Dean do? That was the easy option.

Dean liked Sam, he was strong and smart. He was older than him but not like dad. Sam was 26 and Dean was 18. To be honest, Dean was a little obsessed with him. Could you blame him? The man was built like a giant.

After Sam came, Dean started to go on hunts more. Hunts took a lot less time too, which was another thing Sammy didn’t like. They never spend too much time in the same place. He tried to memorize everything Sam did. How he fights, uses the blade, shoots… He was perfect at everything. He was even better than his father, which was unexpected because his father was the best hunter he knew. Until Sam came.

One day they were hunting a vampire nest, they thought there were 3 people, but there were 5 vampires. After killing 3 of them, other 2 attack Dean from behind. Because his dad and Sam were not on that side of the house. He couldn’t even scream. They put something in his mount and pinned his arms behind. One of his shoulders dislocated. Dean was scared more than he wanted to admit, if they bit him, he could become one of them. What would his dad do then? Kill him?

Then Sam showed up like an angel. He was looking furious. In a blink of an eye, he killed both vampires with his blade. Sam was looking at his eyes for few seconds.

“Look at my eyes okay. You will be fine Dean.” Dean didn’t understand, he felt a little startled and couldn’t react. Why Sam was asking him to look into his eyes. His eyes were hazel. Glowing even in the dark night. What was he trying to do? Then a sharp pain occurred on his shoulder, he screamed with shock. Sam just relocated his shoulder.

“Sorry, if I said anything it would hurt more. Can you walk? Let’s find John.”

Dean didn’t know why he felt a little disappointed. He thought about the incident few weeks at night.
