Chapter Text

Yoo Joonghyuk was walking towards the door of the library when suddendly he heard the scrape of a chair. He looked back only to see that the guy he just encountered was on the computer, looking panicked and trying to do something, moving the mouse frantically.

Joonghyuk stood there for a moment,

Ah, I didn't close the page.

—He thought, not caring at all about it.

The guy was trying to run, but he kept slamming into walls, for every two steps he moved he would inmediatly slam into another wall. He was eventually killed. It was like if a toddler was playing, no, even a toddler could at least move a little more before crashing into walls. To a certain point it was impressive how bad he was,

So clumsy.

The guy stared at the computer as if it had personally offended him, a defeated look on his face. And so he closed the page and changed to another website, trying to make it seem like nothing happened.

Yoo Joonghyuk couldn't help but exhale through his nose, trying to not let out a soft chuckle. The corners of his mouth twitching upwards.

He shook his head slightly, trying to not get distracted. He needed to go, he had to go check on his little sister.

Yoo Joonghyuk's mood changed in a second, passing from a funny moment that lightened him up, to a gloomy self reflecting mindset.

He had responsabilities, he had to be more serious. Especially now.

Joonghyuk didn't have such time to enjoy himself, he has to take care of his sister, coming here to play videogames for a while was a selfish act of his part,

That's what Yoo Joonghyuk had been telling himself. Ignoring the fact that he also needs time for himself.

...

I'm the only one Mia has left. I must look after her as her big brother.

With that Joonghyuk set his pace one again, forgetting this fleeting moment of joy he had. He closed the door as softly as he could, he didn't want to disturb anyone.

____

Yoo Joonghyuk made his way to the nursery, as he entered a nurse noticed him.

"Oh! Joonghyuk, right? How handsome you are, you came to see your sister don't you."

In response Joonghyuk gave a slight nod to the woman. He didn't want to engage in a conversation, it seemed troublesome to him since he was only here to see his sister. He was about to go ahead and go to the crib of his sister when the nurse told him:

"You know, it's almost her feeding time. Why don't you help me and feed her?

That made Yoo Joonghyuk stop in his tracks, it was a good offer, of course he wants to feed his sister. He replied at the nurse,

"Okay."

Even though his response was short and calm the nurse knew better, she could tell the anticipation Joonghyuk had. It made her beam,

"Such a devoted brother,"—The nurse said with genuine joy, since the moment she saw the pair of siblings she knew that they had a strong bond, Joonghyuk really appreciated her baby sister.

"Fine then, go get her and i'll hand you the bottle in a moment."

Yoo Joonghyuk walked to the crib of Mia, leaning over the rail. There she was, wriggling slightly her little arms and legs, she looked up at Joonghyuk with her big eyes and started making baby noises and babbling. Trying to get her brother's attention.

Joonghyuk looked at her with tenderness, her little sister sure was quite endearing.

He held her up carefully, making sure she was comfortable in his arms. He took her to where the nurse was with a bottle full of warm milk, the woman gave the bottle,

"I'm gonna start feeding the rest of the children, so take care of her for a moment, okay?"

The nurse said as she started walking towards the rest of the children with a tray of bottles and baby food in hand.

Joonghyuk leaned the bottle of milk to his sister's mouth, Mia quickly gripped the bottle with her two tiny hands and began drinking the milk.

She was still so small, after all Mia was only eight months old. Her body weighed almost nothing to Yoo Joonghyuk, yet he still held with such caution and gentleness. She might not remember this since she's a baby, but at least she knows that she has a brother that holds her so dearly.

Joonghyuk smiled, it was almost imperceptible but it was a smile. He had been passing a hard time since the accident.

Who would had know that his ordinary life would take such a drastic turn in just one seemingly normal evening.

Yoo Joonghyuk was at school, he was cleaning the classroom along side a few classmates. The sun was setting and it's warm golden light was spilling throught the windows. It was like any other day.

«Yoo Joonghyuk come to my office, inmediately»

—The principal called,

Some of his classmates turned to him in confusion, why would he be called to the principal's office? He hasn't been doing anything wrong. Joonghyuk was just as confused as his classmates,

When he arrived to where the principal, the man was serious, like when someone's about to deliver bad news. It instantly made Joonghyuk have a bad feeling about this, as if expecting a punch,

and sure it was a punch but not physically.

"Please take a seat."

The principal sighed, embracing himself for what he was about to say,

"Joonghyuk, your parents had a automobile accident. Unfortunately, i was informed that they deceased."

Yoo Joonghyuk's face dropped, his body went rigid tensing up. His heart was pounding so loud that even the principal might hear it too,

What?

His head was spinning, his parents...dead?

No way.

No, no, no,

It can't be.

...

"...What happened?" His voice came out weak, almost like a whisper. Surprisingly it didn't crack.

"Well, apparently your parents were in their way to pick up your baby sister and a driver intercepted them and catastrophically crashed. Leaving them severely injured and in the hospital they died."

The principal fidgeted a bit with his hands, feeling awkward and sympathetic for the situation of the young boy in front of him.

"I'm very sorry for your loss Joonghyuk, i'm sure you're preocupated for your sister so you're dissmised early of your cleaning duty."

Right, Mia... What will happen with his sister? She's still so little.

"I'll contact you the next weeks to arrange what will happened with your studies in school, so be aware of it. You may go."

"Yes, thank you sir..."

Yoo Joonghyuk stepped out of the office feeling defeated and like trowing up,

What will he do? This is so messed up, he has to do something, but what? He's still a teenager after all.

Ugh, he doesn't have time to think about these things.

Mia is still at the daycare, i have to go and get her it's getting late,

I can't leave her.

When Yoo Joonghyuk arrived to the daycare a worker spotted him.

"Hm? You're Yoo Joonghyuk right? Are you here for Mia? I was about to call your parents since it's getting late, but i guess it is no longer necessary since you're here."

The lady said.

Yoo Joonghyuk didn't say much, he just wanted to go and get her baby sister

"But why didn't your parents came?"

What a dreadful question, Joonghyuk thought. He didn't want random persons to know what happened, he wasn't there to pour out the tragedy that he just suffered,

"They were busy."

"I see, how thoughtful of you to help them to get your little sister."

Joonghyuk was tired of this chit-chat, eventually he finally reunited with Mia. Who was peacefully sleeping, unaware of what happened. He couldn't help but feel menancholy, his baby sister was all he had left.

The ride home felt longer than usual, his mind just kept repeating what happened these few hours. A notification popped in his phone, interrupting his thoughts,

____

That was how Yoo Joonghyuk and his sister ended up in a orphanage.

A bell rang, it was hour to eat. He had to go, but before that he wanted to hold his little sister bit more, and with a soft kiss on Mia's forehead Joonghyuk let go of Mia to go and eat.

Notes:

Eh, i feel that the end of this chapter felt kinda anticlimatic

Notes:

I based this fic on the song "Cabras" by Little Jesus, Jimena González.
It's a long poem where the author puts in words her heart about a most likely one sided queer love.

Here's the poem, it's in spanish so i translated it:

This is is the last love card that i'll write you
Or the first one, if you want
But more than a card, it's a prayer
To ask you to remember
That we met in captivity
When we sleept on the floor
When the cold entered through the grid
And we never opened the door

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

To remember you that we met tired
With the back contractured
And you had already learned to lower the weapons
For coming from an infinate tenderness
And i still had the war encrusted in my back
For coming from a abismal wound

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

Everything has it's rithym
And we were acelerated
When you met me i already had tachycardia
And when i met you
You already felt absolutely lonely

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

I met you taking care of a sick piece of moon
Which we made a funeral in our backyard
With a box of shoes full of buganvilias
We digged with the back of a chair
And we realized how hard the ground is

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

That's why i write to you
To remember you how we started
Like two goats in the middle of the fire
That we always came in a rush
Because that happens when you're willing
To put your life for what you call home
And because in that home our body was so fleeting
That tomorrow we may not be there anymore

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

To remember you that we met threatened of death
And that in any moment someone could come in
Break the lock
Beat us
But we had faith

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

To say to you that believing hurts
That trust gets old
That it puts you on your knees
That it makes your to be body on the edge
And let you fall

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

We never had a date
We met in a run with our faces covered
And you already know of me that i'm a cloud
And now i know of you that you're a willow
That it will never ve a good moment to leave each other
Because the things that break
Never exist again

It's not our fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

You teached me to not be a scapist
To observe how the cats live their pain
And that from love one should not regret
To say to you that i pray for you how i pray for me
And that i do not regret

It's not your fault to love so much
Loving will never be bad

I live my pain like the cats
I live this sickness of not see you sleep and i understand it
To say to you that i'm preparing my own funeral
Or the funeral of this broken thing
That crashed on the road

It's not our fault to love us much
Loving us will never be bad

I bury another box of shoes
Even if i break my arms for digging
Because i don't know how to get out of the love complete
Instead of broken
I end up like a snake, what i started as a goat.
