Chapter Text
The speaker finds a mirror (a metaphor to themselves) during their school years where they're learning who they are and becoming more self critical. They take the mirror home promising to clean it up and make it look nice. The mirror reminds them of themself (dirted glass=acne, splintered frame=non-ideal figure). They tell everyone the supposed work they'll put into it and how great it'll be, yet hasnt started. When its finally acknowledged that the speaker hasn't worked on it like they said they feel accused due to prior insecurities and the idea of essentially living up to their negative idea of themselves. The unfinished mirror serves as a constant reminder of the person they want to be as well as where they failed and can't stand looking at it. They take it back where they found it outside the school. Although, seeing it everyday still feels worse, they leave (ignore or repress) it to forever be in a state of could be something new or a possible repetition of before. Though, when they go past it again, its gone, taken by the next person to go through the cycle.
