Chapter Text

After a few hours of unpacking, talking, and exploring the camp that the two halls would spend weeks of their lives at, it was dinnertime. The campers headed to the colossal dining hall, and were instructed to line up to receive their food.

Becky turned to Anya. “What do you think they're serving us?”

Anya shrugged. “Hopefully something with peanuts.”

“At some point you have to get tired of peanuts.”

Anya dramatically gasped. “I could never!”

When the two finally reached the front of the line, there were a variety of options.

Becky groaned and grabbed a tray. “I'm disappointed there's no wagyu.”

Anya grabbed a chicken leg and whatever else she could fit on her tray. “Wag-what?”

Becky put a sad hand on Anya’s shoulder. “Lets just go sit down.”

They looked around for a while, and the only available seats were next to Tertius, or Damian.

Anya tapped Becky, and pointed at the empty seats next to Damian. “We can sit ther—”

Becky grabbed Anya’s arm and dragged her towards the seats next to Tertius. “Nope! You need to play hard to get!”

Anya shot Becky a glare, and the two girls sat down next to the blonde.

Across the dining hall, Damian was fuming. He saw Anya point towards the empty seat next to him, and watched Becky drag her towards Tertius.

Emile and Ewen seemed to notice too, because the teasing started all over again.

Emile frowned, and took a bite out of his food. “Aw, Damian's girlfriend broke up with him huh?”

“Shes not my —” Damian groaned. “You guys need a hobby.”

Ewen laughed. “Seriously. You’ve been staring at Tertius so hard I’m surprised you haven't burnt a hole through his head.”

Damian rolled his eyes and looked down at his tray of food. “Whatever.”

Emile gasped. “Ooh, what if Anya and Tertius kiss tonight?”

Damian snapped up. “What?”

Ewen was surprised. “You didn't know she was gonna sneak out and play spin the bottle tonight?”

“...No…”

Emile and Ewen slammed their hands on the table, which caused them to receive a warning look from Mr.Henderson.

“Damian, you have to go.” Emile whispered.

Ewen nodded. “Yeah, you might get a chance to kiss her!”

Damian rolled his eyes. “ ‘M not going.”

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Three hours later, the greenette found himself sneaking out of his cabin to go play spin the bottle.

Damian scoffed. “I cannot believe you made me do this.”

Ewen rolled his eyes. “Nobodys holding a gun to your head.”

Emile quietly opened the cabin door, and half of the boys, (including Damian, Emile, and Tertius) snuck out of the cabin.

Damian watched all of the boys who snuck out sprint somewhere far away from the cabins, and paused. “Where the hell are we going?’

Ewen shrugged. “Just follow the crowd.”

So the two boys picked up the pace.

What they saw when they got there, what most of the boys saw was a grassy field, a huge lake, and half of the girls in cabin 1.

But what Damian saw was Anya. Her pink hair that reminded him of cherry blossoms, her green eyes that could make anyone stop and stare, and her confident personality.

And suddenly, he needed to sit down.

Becky (who was sitting next to Anya), looked over at Damian, and immediately caught him staring.

“Youre in loveee!” The brunette mouthed mockingly.

“I am not!” He mouthed back.

Damian started blushing furiously. He looked away and found a spot next to Emile in the now forming circle.

Somebody placed a random glass bottle in the middle of the circle, and the game began.

Becky went first. She spun the bottle, and it went around for a little bit before landing on Connie. Becky stood up, approached Connie, and gave her a peck on the cheek.

And then a girl named Lyla went. Lyla spun the bottle, and Anya could hear her loud and recurring thoughts.

Please be Damian, Please be Damian, Please be Damian, Please be…

And it almost was Damian, but at the last second, the bottle slightly turned, and it landed on Emile. Lyla physically gagged, but held it together, and gave Emile a quick peck on the lips.

From Lyla's perspective, she was disappointed. But from Emile’s, his whole world just changed.

She's beautiful… he thought.

Anya suddenly bursted out laughing, causing the entire circle to stare at her like she was mentally ill.

Soon, it was Tertius’s turn. And just like Lyla, he had a specific person in mind.

Please be Anya, Please be Anya, Please be Anya, Please be…

His wish was also not granted, because the bottle landed on Ewen. Both Tertius and Ewen looked utterly mortified, but Tertius sucked it up and gave Ewen a kiss on the cheek.

Directly after, Ewen wiped his cheek with his sleeve.

And then, it was Damian's turn. Anya was immediately flooded with loud and random thoughts from girls in the circle.

Maybe if it lands on me, we’ll kiss and fall in love…

Please be me!

I’m such a good kisser, it would be a shame on Damian's behalf if it didn't land on me.

Damian spun the bottle, and it landed on… Bailey?

Bailey was a naturally pretty and tall girl. She knew a lot about politics, and was generally kind. She had long blonde hair and blue eyes, which is what all the boys wanted.

But all Anya could think of was why she felt so upset?

Damian stood up, walked over to Bailey and kissed her on the lips. Anya thought it would be a peck, but it was the furthest thing from it. It felt like they kissed forever, and it was definitely heated.

But why did she feel off about that? She's always seen Damian as a friend anyway. There was no need to feel different now.

Yeah, there was no reason to feel different.

Right?

And then, it was her turn.

Becky turned around and put a hand on Anya's shoulder. “You can do this!” she whispered.

Anya sighed, and spun the bottle. This time, she decided to block out people's thoughts since she was currently the center of attention.

The bottle spun for a bit, and eventually landed on Lyla. Lyla was right next to her, so she turned and gave her a peck on the cheek. Anya smiled and Lyla laughed.

When she went to sit back down, she had an obvious somber look on her face, and Becky noticed immediately.

“Everything good?” Becky said, putting her hand on Anya’s shoulder.

Anya sniffled. “Yeah, I'm fine.”

Which was code for I’m 100% not fine.

Becky didn't have time to continue interrogating Anya, because the next person to go was Emile.

Emile spun the bottle, and to everyone's shock, it landed on Anya.

The whole circle started cheering.

Becky stared at Anya, doing her best not to burst out laughing.

Emile looked terrified.

And Anya looked like she could die then and there.

Meanwhile, Damian was once again, fuming.

What the hell is my luck? My best friend can kiss Anya, but I can't?!

Emile walked up to Anya, crouched down and started leaning in.

Before their lips could touch, the entire circle heard a loud bang.

“What the hell?” Emile said, turning his head away from a confused Anya.

Ewen froze. “Ah shit, the security guards are probably looking around.”

As soon as Ewen finished his sentence, the entire circle dispersed. Some ran back to their cabins, while others hid in random places.

Anya was one of the people who ran back to the cabins, with Becky close behind her.

“I told you this was a horrible idea!” Anya barked.

Becky scoffed. “I'm sorry! But you have to admit, it was pretty fun.”

Anya smiled, and ran to open her cabin door. “Yeah, it was. And at least the security guard got me out of kissing Emile.”

Becky sighed. “You know they are probably gonna make you go through with kissing him, right?”

Anya froze. “...I know.”

The two stepped inside of the cabin, and closed the door.

The other five girls that didn't sneak out were indeed the furthest thing from asleep. It was 12am, and bedtime was at 10:30. They greeted Anya and Becky with a smile, before returning back to their conversations.

Anya grabbed her pajamas and started walking towards the changing rooms, before suddenly pausing and turning to Becky.

The brunette was confused. “What?”

Anya placed her clothes on Becky's bed. “Werent there supposed to be three cabins going? Not two?”

Becky laughed. “The third cabin was too chicken to sneak out on time, so they didn't go.”

Anya laughed harder than Becky. “Are you serious?”

“Dead serious. Now go change before they start doing room inspections!”

Anya rolled her eyes and grabbed her clothes, continuing her walk towards the changing rooms. “Okay okay! I’m going!”

Anya walked into the changing room and closed the door. For a while, she just sat in silence. And then her thoughts became louder than the people talking outside.

Why do I feel so off thinking about Damian kissing Bailey? Bailey is one of the kindest people I have ever met, and she likes everything Damian likes. They would be perfect together, and I’m sure of that. But why doesn't that make me happy? I don't have any feelings for Damian other than friendship, and I don't think that's changing anytime soon. Plus, I heard Bailey say in her head that she really liked Damian, and I would be a horrible person if I randomly started liking him now.

Anya groaned, and realized she needed some sleep.

She changed into her pajamas, walked to her bed, and was knocked out the second she hit the mattress.

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just like Anya, Damian ran back to his cabin. He was exhausted, irritated, and sad all at once.

Emile almost kissed Anya. He got to kiss Bailey, sure, but Bailey wasn't Anya.

Once he entered the cabin, he collapsed on his bed and didn't even bother changing his clothes.

Damian closed his eyes and hoped tomorrow would be better.

But with how things were going right now?

Probably not.

Notes:

TYSM FOR READING!!

SPIN THE BOTTLE IS HERRRRRRREEE!!

I had so much fun writing this!! And finally, Anya's starting to spiral and realize her relationship with Damian might not be just platonic.

I want to release a fic separate from this one, so chap 4 might take a little bit longer to come out!!

Notes:

Soooooo this is a test fic to see if people will actually like this. Here are some notes:

One: Anya isn't stupid, shes just oblivous when it comes to things like love.

Two: Ewen and Emile know that Damian loves Anya, it became obvious to them in second grade. Damian thinks they don't know, which is why he was shocked when Ewen brought it up to him.

Three: Becky indeed did not forget what they were talking about before ;)
