“It’s finally over.”
This kept repeating in Lewis’s head. The F1 season had officially finished 2 weeks ago, with the formula 1 craze slowly dying down. He and his family were now flying to Monaco from Abu Dhabi.
He took a second to reflect on what his family was doing. He could see Nico H. and Alain talk about the next season, Anne watching Rafaela and Gabriel play videogames, and Egle…..right next to him?
Lewis was taken aback from the bottom of his heart.
“Woah Egle! I didnt see you there. How did you get here from there so fast?”
“What do you mean? I was sitting here the whole time?”
“Oh? I must’ve been daydreaming.”
“Have you considered saying yes to Sergio?”
“Huh? Oh, the engagement….”
“Yeah. Hes a great guy Lewis. I really think you should say yes. Dont delay it any further.”
“Yeah, yeah….I know.”
The two siblings-in-laws keep chatting until they hear an annoucement.
“We are unfortunate to convey that Flight 481 flying from Abu Dhabi to Monaco has been overbooked. We however have another flight, Flight 828 flying to the same destination. We would like it if some passengers can give up their seats and fly in the other plane. Departure details will be conveyed later. Thank you.”
The same thing repeats in Arabic.
Nico groaned, running a hand through his hair.
Lewis just sighed at the announcement. “I’ll go.”
Anne protests. “No Lewis. We travel as a family.”
“It's fine, trust me. Nothing much will happen if I reach Monaco a few hours later.”
“I’ll go with Lewis. I’ll take Gabriel.”
“Please be careful with Gabriel Nico. You know his situation…”
“I do I do. Dont worry, ill take care of him.”
Lewis, Nico and Gabriel bid their goodbyes to their family as they board Flight 828.
Who knew this would be their final goodbye for a long time?
