Chapter 3: June

Summary:

Tim’s girl dad glow gets even brighter.

Notes:

This was so fun to write! I hope you enjoyed! 💜🪻🦄

(I am doing a separate one shot for Levi. It wouldn’t make sense to tack him on to this one even if that does sound easier lol.)

Enjoy! 🪻

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Tim is amazing with Ava and Daisy. He has been doing this dad and girl dad thing for four years. Their daughters are thriving and happy. Lucy’s not sure how life could get better than this.

And then the twins were born.

They found out they were having a boy and a girl. Tim wasn’t nervous about their girl, he was an expert after all.

It was the boy.

Levi Timothy Bradford. He was just a few minutes older than his twin sister but boy he was a force to be reckoned with. He did not like to be separated from his sister especially the first few hours.

June Lucille Bradford was their tiny little girl. Lucy watched Tim fall in love with their baby girl. Just like he fell in love with Ava and Daisy.

June was quiet, and observant. Tim would do everything he did with Ava and Daisy. Except this time there were two of them.

And when June cried, Levi cried and vice versa. So they were both up. Lucy usually would handle Levi since he was on her side and Tim would get June.

June would instantly calm down in his arms, and when she didn’t he would walk around the room and talk to her.

He was the same way with Levi, it’s just he had this sort of this magic touch with June.

Lucy was struggling after the twins and Tim had no problem picking up what she couldn’t do quite do.

She would just watch him, the way he would bounce June while she nursed Levi. The way he would just calm their daughter down.

He did great with Ava and Daisy too. Ava, was luckily used to a new baby in the house. She might have been thrown off by two but she handled it well. Daisy, was just confused and she wanted to cuddle Tim.

Which he gave her.

Lucy watches as Daisy bounces over to Tim. He’s holding June in his arms. Daisy climbs up on the sofa and curls up next to him. Lucy has Levi on her shoulder, she’s burping him after he ate. She loves watching Tim with her girls. Their girls.

She watches as Ava climbs up on the other side of Tim.

All three of her girls and her husband.

It was a beautiful sight.

An absolutely beautiful sight.

“Come here Junebug.” Tim encourages the baby. She looks at him, her brown eyes wide. She takes him in and then takes a tentative step towards him. Lucy grabs onto Tim’s shoulder but his eyes never leave their baby girl.

Levi was already walking a little and they thought June would pick it up too. But it took longer for her to get the courage to walk.

“Go Junie!” Ava cheers. Lucy sends her oldest daughter a look and then looks at her husband. He still hasn’t taken his eyes off June.

He’s glowing.

Whenever their kids met a milestone, Tim would get excited no matter what it was. When any of them (including Levi) started on solids he wanted to be the one to help.

When Ava started riding a bike, he was the one helping her.

(He would also be the one teaching her how to drive.)

He was always so proud of them, so it’s not a surprise that he has a big smile on his face with June.

“That’s my girl.” He says and he picks June up and throws her in the air. June giggles.

And the glow is even brighter.

“I never thought Tim would end up with three girls.” Angela says to Lucy. She looks over at her husband, he had been trying to have a conversation with Wesley and James but Ava, Daisy and June plus Aria and Leah were climbing over him.

He was laid out on the floor looking completely defeated.

“And Levi—” She stops when she sees her son toddling by behind Jack. The twins are almost one, but they were mostly mobile.

(Levi was walking more than June and he would never stop moving.)

“Me neither.” Lucy says. “Look at him. He’s in heaven.” June crawls on top of Tim and Tim holds her there.

“He sure is.” Angela says and she has a soft smile on her face. “They love him.” Lucy nods.

She couldn’t agree more.

***

June is definitely more of a mama’s girl. She gravitated to Lucy’s surprise more towards her than Tim. However, she does love her daddy. Lucy walks into the twins room on their 1st birthday and finds Tim reading a book to June. Levi is still passed out in his crib and knowing him he wouldn’t be able to sit still once Tim got him up.

June is wrapped into a blanket with her head on Tim’s chest, unlike her brother she could sit still even if she had no idea what was going on.

“The tradition continues huh?” Lucy asks. She looks at her son who is sprawled out. She bends down to give him a kiss. He stirs and opens his eyes.

“Mama.”

“Hi buddy.” She says and scoops him up. The only time he is calm is when Lucy is holding him.

“I tried to get him.” Tim says looking at his son in her arms. His face is soft, kind of like when he is around the girls except it’s different. She can’t really explain it.“He said no.”

“You are a good dad.” Lucy says. “Letting him sleep in on his birthday.” Tim shrugs but smiles and turns back to the book.

June snuggles more into Tim as he reads on. Lucy watches him, studies their youngest child and daughter.

June was definitely the baby of the family despite being only a few minutes younger than Levi. It was hard to know that this was their last time of having one year olds. This was their last 1st birthday.

They had talked briefly about another kid, it wouldn’t be right away of course. But Lucy doesn’t think she can do it. The twins pregnancy was rough, and not something she wanted to go through again.

It wasn’t set in stone whether they would or wouldn’t but—she has a feeling this would be their last firsts.

“She’s so content with you.” Lucy says. Tim looks down at June, and presses the top of her head.

“She is sometimes.” Tim says and he starts rocking the chair. She wonders if he thinks this will be the last time too.

Their kids were growing up, and as much as Lucy wants to stop it. She can’t wait to see who they become.

She can’t wait to watch them become their own person. She knows Tim will be proud too because the did this—together.

***

“Dada,” June says. Lucy is in the kitchen and she watches as Tim sits up and looks down at the baby.

“Hi Junebug.” He says. Lucy smiles and continues to make the snack plates for the kids. It was summer and they needed to keep themselves busy. Ava and Daisy were in the backyard and the twins were playing in the living room.

“Dada!” June says again and Tim scoops her up. Lucy pauses and really the girl dad effect hasn’t gone away. “Love you.”

Tim presses a kiss to her forehead, the random declarations of love were her favorite thing. Levi was constantly saying I love you and mama. June was always blowing her kisses.

But when they did it to Tim, it was like a whole different thing. Tim completely melted and she loves it.

Just like she loves him.

“I love you too Junie.” Tim says. He looks behind him and catches Lucy’s gaze.

He smiles again and presses a kiss to the top of June’s head. “Look what mama made you Junie.” Tim says. He walks over to the counter with June still in his arms. She claps and reaches out for a cracker. Lucy hands her one and Tim sets June down in the chair.

“They love you.” Lucy says and she can’t help it. “You just have—”

“A glow. I know.” Tim says giving her a look. Lucy nods and then shakes her head.

“Yes,” she says. “But it’s also just a magic touch.”

“Really?”

“You are an amazing dad Tim. You have a glow and I will tell you that for the rest of your life.”

“Thank you.”

“Of course.” Lucy says and she studies before she is standing on her toes to kiss him. She really hopes he never loses that glow.

She hopes he has it forever and that’s all that really matters.

That girl dad effect was really was a good thing.
