Chapter Text
Tomura's knees buckled, he was weak. "Be careful!" Izuku put an arm around him, preventing him from falling.
"I'll be fine..." He swatted the green haired boys arm off of him, regaining his balance. "I've just been sleeping alot, someone didn't bring me any food for a week."
"Yeah... My bad..." Deku rubbed the back of his neck, chuckling. "Where do you wanna go?"
"Hm... Dunno—...Actually, I want to see a movie."
"A movie?" Deku enquired.
"I overheard some heroes talking about this new pre-quirk sci-fi movie a while ago... I think it should be out now... I heard they got support heroes to work on robotics... If that's interesting." He paused, looking quizzically over at Deku, who still seemed puzzled. "...What.''
"Its just... Different to how you were before, you know, destroying stuff? Actually, this whole time you've been weirdly calm, well, for someone who wanted to destroy everything and everyone 2 weeks ago..."
"Life just feels weird right now." Tomura tucked his hands into the hoodie pouch, staggering behind him.
"You know, in a way, I get it... I've actually been feeling kinda similar since I lost One for All!"
"Uhuh." The hooded man groaned, slouching further. "...I'd rather skip this dialogue."
"Hey... Whats with all the gaming lingo?" He leaned back to look at him, nervously grinning.
Tomura shot him a nasty look, refusing to answer.
They'd walked to a small city nearby, it was approaching late noon as they arrived; the sun was starting to set. Tomura kept his head low as they neared the more populated areas, unfortunately, they equally stood out. Tomura mainly stood out because of his posture, or the fact he had no shoes or socks on. Most of society were still wary despite the wars end. Though, he didnt seem to notice much. Izuku had given him his phone to play on while they walked. On the other hand, people tended to recognise Deku from the media, especially since the events had been confirmed on the news.
"Hi! Are there any showings to... What was it?" Izuku looked back at Tomura.
"...Hm...? Oh. War of Androids...?" He'd hoarsely whisper back.
"War of Androids?" Deku pressed his lips together, shrugging.
The staff member behind the glass looked rather shocked, "Oh, you—you mean War of the Androids? Let's see... Yup! There's one at at 8:15! Uhm... Also..." She lowered her voice, sticking the tickets through the hole in the glass. "Are, are you that kid? Deku?" A sheepish look formed on her face.
Deku took the tickets, a warm smile on his face. "That's me! Haha, I'm not used to being recognised so much...! Um, how much?"
"Really? Thank you for your service! Oh—don't worry, I'll cover it in this case." She flicked her hand. "Enjoy the movie!" She brightened up, clasping her hands on the table infront of her.
"Really? Thank you so much! And it's- Huh?" He felt something, or someone poking at his back.
"...It starts in 10 minutes." Tomura grimaced, returning his phone, the time visible on the screen.
"Oh, sorry, gotta go! Thank you again!" He waved at the woman, strolling inside.
"Do you want some popcorn? A drink?" Deku practically skipped over to the concession stand, unable to keep his voice at an appropriate volume.
"...Sure. Whatever." He brooded, meandering over to, and leaning against a wall, just to idly hack at his neck.
"Hello! 2 medium colas and 2... Large popcorns!"
"Hey, are you that kid from TV?" An older man with his daughter patted him on the shoulder.
They'd finally found their seat in the theater, despite being 5 minutes late.
"Looks like we didn't miss much...!" Deku whispered with his hand beside his mouth, handing him his concessions with the other
"We wouldn't have missed anything if you didn't spend almost 15 minutes talking to people... Now be quiet." Tomura grumbled through the handful of popcorn he'd shovelled into his mouth.
He wasn't all that hungry, though he felt like he should be. Really, it felt like he was just eating the popcorn for the sake of it, and it tasted good. If he didnt eat it all, would Midoriya eat the rest? ...Why would he care what Midoriya thinks? Jeez. He really needs to focus on the movie, it's been a while.
And then, almost halfway through the movie the power went out.
Tomura decayed the popcorn plucked between his fingers out of sheer irritation, turning to Deku, who quickly pulled his phone out of his pocket for light.
"That's weird..." He muttered, turning the flash on, standing up and pointing it around.
"Are you kidding me...?" Tomura exclaimed rather loudly, setting his mostly-full popcorn on the seat so he could stand up. He dug his nails into his neck again, "The one time I get to do anything, this-"
CRASH!
Right infront of the screen, a large figure fell into the room, crumbling the ceiling & walls, dust began to fill the room.
Deku activated like some kind of sleeper agent who'd just heard their code word, covering his mouth and nose with his shirt. "Everybody! Evacuate!" He began guiding people to the exit, avoiding the giant, thrashing figure. "Tomura! Come on!" He practically blinded him with the phone flashlight, motioning for him to follow.
"Yeah... Right." He listlessly trudged along, continuing to hastily itch around his eyes, muttering under his breath as they both left with the other bystanders.
A sizeable crowd had formed uncomfortably close to the movie theater, some with their phones out, some frozen in fear, and some just there for the love of the game. Tomura felt like there was daggers stabbing into his back with the way people looked at him. He shouldn't pay them any mind...—Was it his appearance? Did they recognise him? He hadn't notice them before... Was it just because Midoriya had called him Tomura?
Tomura moseyed up to the young hero, snickering. He turned his head at him, a wide, cracked grin on his face. "Better go help out, hero."
Deku nodded, leaving his phone in Tomuras hands, before clumsily jumping up on the roof to get a clearer look.
The villain was massive, standing at almost 19ft tall, she looked almost like a bull, hairy on the face, shoulders & back. There was someone else he could make out. A shorter, but chunkier figure with red hair in the distance slowly heading towards her with angered intent. Was this some sort of infighting? A hero should show up soon... Right. He should minimise damage until then.
"Hey! You need to get out of here!" He turned to the crowd. "All of you!"
Deku leapt back down, pointing to his left. "Go that way, and keep going! Call for a hero if you can, just make sure you're safe first! Go!"
The crowd ran off, Tomura had seemed to disappear aswell. Though, Izuku couldn't worry about him too much right now, he could defend himself... He sprung back on the roof, sprinting towards the danger.
He watched as the giant bull stood up, her nose ring waving as she harshly huffed. "I'll kill you!" The red haired figure yelled, garnering a response from the 19ft tall being. "I'd like to see you try!" This seemed to anger the other villain, speeding up the pace in which they were rushing towards her. It was as if they had no care for what, or who, they might be stepping on.
He couldn't let them collide, he moved faster than his legs wanted to, jumping up. He could kick them in the forehead just before they came in contact with her, preventing a direct collision.
"St. Louis... SMASH—...?" Did he get distracted...? No, that isn't right... It's just that they never collided... Why? Fumbling for ground, he fell onto the street, rolling across it, scraping up his clothes in the process. That didnt stop him, not one bit. What happened back there? He immediately jumped back onto the rooftop...
The giant lady, the bull, was gone...? No, that can't be right. Where did she go? Even the other villain looked bewildered. Was this some kind of secret quirk? Was someone else helping her?
...Then he saw it, just as he was jumping over the gigantic hole in the building, he peered inside. She'd been reduced to just a pile of flesh on the floor. He almost wanted to puke at the sight, but he knew who to blame. Shigaraki.
The red haired villain remaining stepped back, about to run away. Damnit... Should he go find Tomura, or get the villain? He hurriedly looked around, spotting someone else approaching. "...Mt. Lady?"
"Hey guuuys! No worries, I got this!" She carefully stepped over some bystanders, pointing finger guns at them, making a duck-kissy face.
That's perfect! Then he should really collect Shigaraki.
He leapt into the theater, trying to avoid the flesh pile entirely; It was even worse up close, somehow, he'd forgotten just how devastating decay really was. "Shigaraki? Shig-Tomura?!"
"Calm down. ...I took care of it!" He giggled, "Is it bulls that make beef? Or was that cows...?" He stepped out of the shadows, eating his popcorn ever so casually.
"Why would you do that? Everybody will realise it's you!" Deku yelled from the other end of the theater. "You were the one warning me about getting you caught!"
"Relax... People think I'm KO'ed, right? Most people also think my quirk just turns things to sand or something. It could've been anybody..." He shrugged, beginning to shuffle down the stairs, "I'm saving people, right? I got rid of the threat. Plus, they ruined the movie...! That really pissed me off. Maybe they should've watched where they stepped."
"You can't just go around killing people!"
"Heroes kill people all the time."
Deku knit his brow, soughing. "...Let's just, go. Before somebody sees you. Before someone sees me talking to you, like—like this. I could get in serious trouble." He refused to look directly at him, a defeated look strewn across his face.
"You didn't think of that when you first 'saved' me?" He grabbed Izukus wrist as he strolled past him, "Hold on tight...!" He suddenly jumped up, utilizing his accelerator rings to spring further into the air, aiming for the sky. Once they were high enough to avoid being seen, wings sprouted from his back, switching his hold of Deku to one reminiscent of a bird holding its prey, flying into the dusk.
"Drop me off near UA,—Make sure its not too close!—Then go back to the rubble." Izuku sighed, "I'll try to visit in a couple days, but no funny business until then."
"Whatever you say, hero..." Tomura teased, shaking him mid-air.
