Chapter Text

After a boring Saturday filled with unpacking and finally getting your computer set back up, Sunday greeted you like a blessing.

You finally dont have to do anything, no chores to be done and the last bit of unpacking can wait. The heat also died down enough, clouds shielding the town from the painful rays of the sun, making hanging out outside a lot more enjoyable.

You pull a small box from the pile and dig around for your ipod, clipping it to your baggy jeans. You pull on a descendants shirt and blast their album as loud as possible. After a hop downstairs and a goodbye to your parents, you push out the door into the day out.

Once again, you are mindlessly wandering but in a better mood than when you went to the comic store. The wind tousled your hair as you continued into the downtown-ish area.

After a quick stop at white castle for a soda (because their food was nasty), you found yourself at a blockbuster. Hell yeah, you needed a movie for tonight since rewatching your collection had grown boring.

The familiar musty smell of a blockbuster and the florescent lights, this was your home away from home. Sure, it’s a different one than your usual, but theyre all pretty similar. You tug your headphones out of your ears and grin. All that was left was to decide on a genre.

After brief consideration, horror seemed the most attractive. A classic slasher was exactly what you had in mind.

Unfortunately, you spotted a familiar face in that exact section.

That greasy boy with auburn hair, but now he wasnt alone. Three others stood with him, all seemingly having a spirited debate.

A shorter one with a red cap and a blue sweater was probably the loudest, an italian accent cutting through the air.

A skinny blonde one in a green sweater, who wasn’t saying much of anything. Honestly, he seemed to be a little annoyed.

And the tallest, and biggest one. He had long curly hair tied into a greasy ponytail, wearing a grey flannel blazer and a star trek t shirt.

“why dont we roll for it!” The auburn one screeched, voice akin to nails on a chalkboard. “Fuck no! Your dice are loaded Bill” The shorter one hissed, crossing his arms. That only seemed to set off this Bill more.

You walk past, but not out of ear shot. Youre nosey, so what? They were screaming anyway.

“Pete, nobody wants to watch your gross snuff porn!” The fat one groaned into his hands. Snuff..? Does blockbuster even sell that?

“oh shut up fatso-“

“stop calling me fat! It’s not funny!”

That received a laugh from the others. You felt a twinge of pity for this total stranger, his friends were seemingly all pieces of shit.

“Maybe if you didnt eat 20 times a day you wouldn’t look like jabba the hutt!” Bill sneered while pushing up his glasses with his middle finger.

You were tempted to interject, the fat one looked ready to kill Bill (haha..get it?) and youd rather not be a witness to murder.

“okay! lets just calm it down. Whos night is it to pick anyways Jerry?” Pete turned towards the skinny blonde one, who you guess is named Jerry, and he pulled out a notebook.

“It’s yours” He shrugs but doesnt look happy himself. Pete laughs and starts talking about how he told them so and what not. You cant help but laugh at the absurdity of this, surely they cant be friends?

Before you could process, Pete is going towards you and you try your best to look nonchalant. Surely he’ll just ignore you…surely….

“Thats a good movie y’know” He points at the movies in your hands that you didnt even realize you grabbed. The crow, something you had been meaning to watch but couldnt find the time.

“you like horror?” He raises an eyebrow, or rather a side of his unibrow. “yeah, i guess. I like a few of the classics here and there,” you shrug.

“what about real horror? Like gore and shit?” His accent is kinda cool, you almost get lost on focusing on it. You shake your head, get your head straight! “I mean… I watched terrifier and tusk? I liked them decently.” You were really hoping he wouldn’t bring up whatever movies they mentioned earlier. You preferred to avoid conversations about snuff…as most normal people do.

“you should watch human centipede two, great movie” He grins crookedly like theres some sort of ulterior motive behind it before grabbing the crow out of your hands. He’s gone before you can protest or yell.

What is with this group and taking shit from your hands?

“Who the hells that?” Jerry glances at you, raising an eyebrow. They moved far enough away where you kinda have to focus to hear what they say.

“eh i dont know, they seemed like they digged horror. Plus they had the tape i wanted so… i negotiated!” Pete snickered before walking over to the counter along with the club.

You grab human centipede 2 from the bottom shelf and pray this movie isnt a gore fest.

————————————————————————

That is the last time you take movie recommendations from a stranger. Sure, you liked body horror and whatnot. But that? that made your stomach churn. And it didnt even have a good plot! Just gross out to an extreme.

The untouched bowl of popcorn looks at you tauntingly, the thought of eating anything was off the table for the night. You rewind the tape and pop it out the player, back into the case. If you could erase a movie from your memory, it’d be that one. Maybe you’re a pussy, but man it was genuinely vile.

You head downstairs and give your dad the popcorn before returning to your room. You boot up your computer and open up A.O.L messenger. To your dismay, none of your friends are online. So you chat in a few chatrooms before the discussion gets boring and you switch to myspace.

Of course, same deal as A.O.L. You update your blog and rant about the movie. It was a rather faggy thing to do, having a blog, but it was fun to write. Theres worse things to do to fill time.

Typing out your blog post ended up taking awhile, the sun long gone underneath the horizon as stars filled the sky. You peel yourself out of you desk chair and crawl onto your bed, peaking out the curtains at the neighborhood.

The blue-gray night, only illuminated by the warm streetlights and peoples porch lights. The moon is dark, the outline barely visible among the clouds. Nature always had a way of grabbing your attention away from everything else.

After a few more moments, you pull your head away from the window and climb into bed. Your eyes begin to feel heavy and ,despite not doing much today, you feel exhausted.

A small part of you hopes you see that group again, but you cant be bothered to dwell on that thought as sleep pulls you in.

Little did you know, one of those geeks just so happen to notice you in your window, getting annoyed with the fact you seem to keep popping up everywhere.
