Chapter Text
Spoke might’ve spent a little more than 5 minutes away from his cell (It’s not their fault okay? Like who deadass would want to go back to their prison cell??) He was beginning to think that maybe this wasn’t his smartest idea.
“You know, maybe I should just head back,” Spoke muttered quietly after turning down another sketchy hallway. Spoke didn’t like how long these hallways were. Just something about them felt off, like he was being watched or something.
Spoke kept their tail curled around their leg, something they did in an attempt to calm themselves whenever they were nervous.
Spoke checked how much time he had left on his invis. It wasn’t much, only 3 minutes, and he only had 1 more invis pot.
“Yeah, I’m dipping. These hallways are creeping me the fuck out and I don’t want to get caught or anything…..I’m talking to myself aren’t I?”
Spoke made it back to the heavily guarded hallway in record time, barely sneaking past the guards on his way out. “That went…surprisingly well...I guess,” Spoke mused as they flicked the lever to open their cell.
“I wonder why there were so many guards guarding that hallway though, there was like nothing there…unless I missed something? Whatever.”
Spoke spent around 5 minutes breaking the button that he had placed earlier. God I hate mining fatigue.
After they finally broke the button they stashed it in the barrel along with the steak and singular invis pot. “Guess It’s time to go back to eating rotten flesh because I don’t wanna risk getting caught with steak…”
Spoke spent the next couple hours just sitting in his cell doing nothing. I’m really missing being able to do whatever I want right now. I really fucking hate it here.
After a while Spoke had finally had enough. “This is stupid, I’m just gonna try to escape right now. What’s the worst that can happen anyways?”
Spoke stood up abruptly and grabbed their stuff from the barrel. I hope there are not too many guards on patrol right now…Actually, I should probably check that.
Spoke creeped over to the edge of their cell and glanced around the corner. He spotted 4 guards, two were near the staircase while one was patrolling down the hallway and the last one was very obviously asleep leaning against the outside of a cell.
Okay, if I use this last invis pot I can easily sneak past the guards but it only lasts 5 minutes so I’ll have to be quick.
Spoke splashed the potion at his feet and then placed the button down in front of their cell door. Pressing it, he quickly dashed out of his cell, pulling the lever to re-close his cell.
Spoke sneaked past the sleeping guard and the one patrolling the hall. Once he got close enough to the staircase, he glanced around quickly before swerving between the two guards and descending down the staircase.
As soon as Spoke made it to the bottom floor, they sprinted for the staircase where the guards were last time. Gotta be quick, I don’t want to run out of invis.
Spoke sneaked past all the guards and ran back to the potion’s room. Okay hopefully there is more invis in here—Oh shit. Spoke stopped dead in their tracks, right in front of them was Jamato, staring directly at him. Spoke wasn’t exactly looking into the room when he entered, more so looking behind him. Probably not the smartest idea.
D-did he see me? Spoke stood there frozen, too scared to move and maybe give himself away if they hadn’t already seen them.
After a few agonizing seconds, Jamato spoke. “I know you’re there, Spoke. I can see your invis particles,” Jamato said, eyes narrowing.
Spoke was still frozen in shock, but he managed to snap out of it. “Uh…hey Jamato…,” Spoke murmured awkwardly. Jamato sighed. “What exactly do you think you’re doing?” Jamato asked, tilting his head to the side.
“Uhhh, definitely not trying to escape that’s for sure…,” Spoke replied, laughing nervously. Jamato stared at him, clearly not impressed. “Mhm, right…”
Spoke laughed again, their body becoming visible as the invisibility effects faded. “So uhh, what are you doing here?” Spoke asked, looking at the ground.
Jamato scoffed. “Cut the small talk Spoke, It’s really not worth trying to get out of this.”
Okay, I might be more cooked than I thought…
“What do you mean Jamato…I’m not trying to get out of anything…,” Spoke mumbled. Jamato continued to stare at Spoke while Spoke still refused to look up from the ground.
“Cut the bullshit Spoke, I’m not dumb. You’re coming with me. Now.”
God I’m fucked.
