Chapter Text
Now Dick knew that this wasn’t the best idea, but he needed to make sure that the young man that Jason and Roy rescued is doing ok and Jason is treating him right.
Dick was on his way to Jason’s house when he thought he heard a motorbike skid to a stop. He slowed to a stop. He saw Jason pull the young person off the bike and carry them inside the apartment building.
He slowly followed them inside, when he saw Jason put the young person on one of the beds. When Jason closed the door, he jumped at the sight of Dick just standing in his kitchen.
“Jesus fucking christ, Dickwing you scared the fuck out of me.” Jason whispered, letting Dick know that Peter was asleep and to not wake him the fuck up.
“Kid asleep?” Dick whispered back as he looked back into the room Jason had left. Jason sighed, nodding his head. He took off his helmet and sat it on the counter. “Look Dick, I know bringing this kid is properly not the best idea but I needed to bring him to my house man. His hair is almost pure white Dick” Jason said as he turned his head to look at the bedroom.
Dick sat down in shock. There could be multiple reasons the kid has white hair. Marie Antoinette syndrome could be a big pointer towards the white hair. But Roy had also mentioned that he’s been in the pit.
The two were sitting around and were chatting before they heard a sharp intake of breath before they heard moving around in the bedroom. Jason got up and moved his helmet and went to go change in a different room in case Peter got up and saw him. They heard the door open and the two looked at each other before going back to talking to make it look like they didn’t hear anything.
Peter walked into the living room quietly walking over to where Jason and Dick were sitting. He sat down near them but not to close as he doesn’t fully trust them as of yet. From what Dick could see, the boy, Peter, was still covered in the goo from the pit, so that means he passed out on the bike and Jason carried him upstairs and into bed.
“A-are you Red Hood’s friend?” Peter asked in a quiet voice, unsure and voice hoarse from not talking for hours. Jason and Dick looked at each other and made a silent agreement that no one was allowed to hurt him. Jason was right about the hair being almost pure white.
He could see dark brown and maybe some black strands still in his hair. The kid also had one almost emerald green eye that Dick knew was from the pit and the other eye was a deep brown and he could tell that the brown was his natural eye colour.
“Yep that’s me, you’re Peter right?” Jason asked as he slowly moved closer to Peter. Peter looked at Dick and tilted his head slightly like he was thinking of something. “You feel familiar for some reason.” he said to Dick with his head still tilted like a puppy.
Dick and Jason looked at each other in a quiet question on what he meant. “What do you mean Peter?” Dick asked in a quiet voice unsure on how this conversation was going to go. “You remind me of my Uncle Ben. You have the same kind energy around you” Peter said in a quiet voice like he was remembering fond memories as tears gathered in his eyes.
“I shouldn’t be near anyone. Everyone who goes near me dies or has forgotten me….” he said in a really quiet voice, it was so quiet that both Dick and Jason had to strain their ears to just hear what he had to say.
“Hey kid, i got a small question if you're up to answer it” Dick asked, Peter looked at him and slightly nodded his head unsure on what was going to be asked of him.
“Why is your hair white? You don’t need to answer it because it's a private question but I work with the police department and I just need to make sure nothing has happened before Red Hood got you out of that place.” Dick asked in a calm tone as to hopefully not scare Peter and to not piss Jason off.
Peter looked confused when Dick asked this, so Jason got up and grabbed a hand mirror to show the boy.
You see Peter was already aware he had some white streaks in his hair but his full head? That was odd. So when Peter looked at his hair, he was shocked to only see maybe two handfuls of his brown hair.
He was also shocked at his eye colours. He still had his brown eyes but now they look like a mix of toxic green mixed with his brown.
Dick and Jason looked at each other before Jason slowly took the mirror off the boy and sat it down. Peter lowered his head. “Did you want to answer, kid? You don’t need to. We just want to find out what happened” Jason asked. Peter slowly nodded his head and looked up and saw emerald green eyes stare back at him.
“I don’t know how I managed to get into a pit of forbidden mountain dew but all I know is that I was fighting some villain and then I woke up in a container of lime cordial and drowned a couple of times. But I've always had white in my hair. It used to be streaks but after the trip to the town it seems to have spread." Peter explained.
Jason and Dick looked at each other in disbelief at what Peter had just told them. “What do you mean you were fighting a villain?” Jason asked as he tried to comprehend what he was just told. “I mean exactly what I was saying. I fought a purple grape from space and then it felt like my body was being torn apart molecule by molecule. Then I woke up in the forbidden mountain dew and now I'm here.” Peter told him in an almost bored tone. “I know I’m missing some memories but I don’t know where those memories are.” Peter said as he shook his head.
Dick looked almost sad as he heard what the young man had to say. He and Jason looked at each other trying to figure out if this boy was lying or not. Jason shook his head and turned back to Peter.
“Are you sure that your memories are messed up like that?” Jason asked as he got up to sit next to Peter.
Peter just nodded his head as he ran a hand through his hair. “I'm not sure. There are blank spots in my memories. And I'm sure they have something to do with my aunt” Peter responded. Jason and Dick looked at each other and nodded before Dick got up and went to make a phone call.
“Tim, I need this information written down now. This kid has had so much done to him it's insane.” Dick said when he got outside and far enough so the kid and Jason wouldn't hear the conversation. Dick could hear the keypad typing. “You know you could ask Barbara to do this. Literally her job” Tim said as he typed. Dick sighed as he rubbed his head.
“Yes, but she is more likely to tell Bruce if she finds something.” Dick responded. “And you think I won't?” Tim asked with an amused tone to his voice. Dick laughed and shook his head. “You won't unless it's something crazy important” He responded as he sat on the bench outside of Jason's house.
Tim sighed as he typed on his computer. “What do we know about him so far?” He asked Dick as he started to put information into the computer. “Well, he has told Jason his name is Peter.” Dick told Tim. “No last name?” Tim asked.
“None that I know of. He might be hiding it because he doesn't know us yet.” Dick said into the phone while looking into the distance. He could hear typing and Tim sighing. “I can't find anything on Peter but I might have to ask Wally or even Bart if there was a rift in the multiverse or something.” Tim explained as he typed on the computer.
Dick sighed. “The multiverse? Shit Tim, that's an insane thought.” He said as he started to walk back to the house. Tim sighed like he was talking to a child, and when it came to the multiverse, Dick had little to no knowledge on it.
While Dick was outside, Peter and Jason were sitting on the couch before Peter's stomach growled. “You hungry kid?” Jason asked as he stood up to move to the kitchen. Peter flushed a slight red and nodded his head. “Yeah kinda. Kinda craving chocolate cake right now though” Peter responded.
Jason paused at that. “You just got hella traumatised and just came out of what is basically something from greek mythology and you want chocolate cake?” Peter just nodded his head. “Yeah. My aunt was going to buy me chocolate cake before she…. Anyway we're gonna make this shit or what?” Peter got up and almost immediately fell over.
Jason laughed before getting up to help him. “Dude you just got out of the pit. Walking might be difficult right now.” Jason said. “But I was able to walk to the couch from the bedroom though?” Peter responded.
