Chapter Text
…
He’d planned this well. As well as he could. He loved Italy. He’d do anything for him. In his hand, he carried a bouquet of roses. They were a shimmering sort of red, much like that of his own flag, or perhaps that was just his bias speaking.
He shook his head to clear his thoughts and slowly walked forward. He’d chosen this spot specifically for this reason. The moon had just begun to rise, and the last remains of sunshine had left clawmarks that shone beautifully pink against an orange sky. Germany (the land, not the person), was dazzlingly rich with hills, much like the one Italy was seated on. There was a small, wooden table, but not much else, and it overlooked more miles of grassy slopes than the eye could see.
Germany slowly made his way up to Italy, who glanced to look at the blonde, his curl swaying in the mild breeze. Germany paused to look at him, before sitting down beside him on a blanket placed there by the Italian.
”It’s nice, isn’t it?” The shorter man spoke, staring almost directly at the fading sun. “German sunsets are so pretty. But in Italy, I get to watch the sun disappear on the horizon, and it’s even more beautiful there.” He smiled at Germany, who nodded.
”Ja. It’s… nice. Sehr nice.” Germany cleared his throat, once, twice, before sitting upright. “Italien.”
”Hmm?”
”…” He handed the brunette the bouquet. “Ich liebe dich, Italy. I’m in love with you.” He stared at the man across from him, who looked slightly bewildered, a faint blush coating his cheeks.
”I know.”
Germany almost flinched. “You… know?”
”Mhm. You’re not very subtle, you know.”
Germany, suddenly dejected, glanced down, shuffling a few centimeters back. “Oh.”
Suddenly, he felt a slight pressure and pull on his cheeks, and found his body pressed against Italy’s, lips pulled together in a kiss. He stiffened, before moving to wrap his arms around the Italian. They pulled away after a moment, staring back at each other, breathing in each other’s air.
After a few seconds of catching their breath, Germany leaned in again, and they were embracing once more. He pulled away only to breathe through his mouth for a moment, before settling his head onto the smaller man’s shoulder.
Italy smiled down at him, the bouquet a few feet away, forgotten as they held eachother.
”Ti amo.” He pressed a fleeting, chaste kiss to Germany’s forehead, who only nodded.
”…Ja.”
