Chapter Text
The streets were lined with lamp posts and people walking down the sidewalk, a clock on a tower in the middle of this place showed 7:30 and 19:30.
How nice to include both ways of time. He thought quietly, following the black feathered coat on his tour guide before-
Thud
"AH!"
His tour guide stumbled forward for a few before steadying himself and turning around to T bone, who was sitting on the ground.
"Are you okay? Sorry for stopping suddenly but we needed to get you something before we move on, standard rules."
He rubbed the back of his head, holding his other hand out to help him up.
"Yeah, I'm fine, it's my fault after all for not paying attention"
He replied back, pulling himself up with the arm.
"My mind was just wandering all over the place."
They walked into the shop, continuing on their conversation.
"Oh don't be, I mean, this beautiful giant place, I understand why you would be looking around, it's confusing which is why whenever someone dies, they are assigned a tour guide for a week to show them around the city!"
He shot his arms up, spreading them to emphasize his point and accidentally knocked over a shelf that had books right onto the floor.
The shopkeep just put the books up with an exhausted but knowing sigh, smiling while shaking his head, it seems he knows Corazon or, err, Rosinate.
"Mostly tour guides show the newbies the main points but by the end of the tour, whenever you wander around, you'll be able to see a shop or store you'd seen on your tour and know where you are, buses are all around here and taxis too, tell them where you're going and they'll take you there in an instant!"
They reached the counter of the shop and Corazon turned to talk with the shopkeeper, named Theodore on his tag. T bone took the time to look around and saw many cuckoo clocks, digital clocks and analog clocks on the wall, in the display cases and on the display tables were watches in different variations and styles, such as a digital watch with a colorful neon wristband, an analog watch with a small window for its inside gears, and a cuckoo watch made of wood. It was truly amazing how creative this shop was.
"Hey T bone!"
He snapped back to reality, looking in the direction of Rosinate and walking over.
"What is it? Is there something wrong?"
He questioned if he looked too long at the watches or if his face was scaring the shopkeeper but when looking at the man's face, it showed a smile.
"Why would you ask that? I wanted to know if you would like this watch?"
Theodore pushed a watch across the counter towards them. Its bands were a navy blue with line patterns while the face shape was a simple square and the clock itself moves in ticks, it looked simple yet nice to the eyes.
It's too nice for me, and to think the man made this to give to someone like me even though someone else might need it would-
A hand waved across his eyes, startling him a bit.
"Are you going to try it on?"
Theodore asked with a gentle tone, nudging the watch to his right arm while Rosinate looked at him with a smile and an asking expression on his face, glancing quickly at the watch then to him.
He couldn't Deny the man, that would be disrespectful.
I'll try it on but then I'll ask after for their cheapest watch, this one deserves to go to a citizen.
"... Yeah, I was just... Admiring the craftsmanship."
He put it on the underside of his right wrist, turning his arm to test how snug it was. Corazon looked happy that he put it on.
"Thanks for the watch, Theo and sorry about knocking over your books"
Wait what? We're leaving!? But I didn't take it off yet to give it back and-
"Don't worry, I'm used to you knocking over things and breaking them. Oh, and take this,"
Theodore rummaged through a drawer hidden behind the counter and pulled out a black watch with a heart shaped frame of black and red, the band having a feather pattern.
"This is your, hmmm... Yeah! This is your third watch this month, you're getting better about not being clumsy."
He put the watch on the table and Corazon took it and put it on the underside of his right wrist, gently securing it until it didn't move.
"Thanks! And I am getting better about my clumsiness!"
He beamed in pride at the compliment, while T bone took the time to take off his watch and slide it back, and leaving Corazons side to look at other watches.
"I only dropped an empty pot, slipped over a puddle and knocked over 4 tangerines by accident."
"That Is quite the development and-"
He shifted his gaze onto the watch on the counter and to T bone who was trying on the watches from his box of worse designs.
"It seems like your friend is a bit confused."
He gestured towards T bone who walked over with a dark grey watch, the fram completely bent and the glass broken yet the face showed the exact time. He placed it on the counter and pushed it towards Theo.
"I'll take this watch."
Corazon tilted his head at T bone and back to Theo, who sighed with compassion, taking the watch and walking back to the box, tossing it in and going back to the counter and sliding the navy blue watch towards T bone.
"This is yours since you already wore it, it's in the rules"
He pointed his thumb at a poster behind him that stated the rules.
Rules:
- If someone wears a watch in here, it automatically becomes theirs, and you cannot get another one.
- The watch is Specifically made for the user.
- Buying a watch or fixing it costs nothing, don't worry.
Ohhh, I should have read it before I used the watch, then I could have taken a different watch.
He was mentally kicking himself in the head for not noticing the poster earlier when he looked around. Theodore then slid the watch until it hit T bones right hand.
"Put on your watch, I mean, the rules say it's for you."
Theodore gave him a gentle smile and as T bone put it on inside his right wrist. And Corazon turned and looked at T bone as he twisted his arm around, looking at the watch with curiosity.
"It looks good."
He remarked, seeing how he admired the watch on his arm.
"Oh! Thanks and,"
T bone turned to Theodore who was leaning forward on the counter.
"Thank you for giving me this watch, it is extremely nice."
He bowed his head before a laugh escaped the man in front of him, his head looking up at Theodore with confusion.
"You don't have to bow, it's just a watch, but you're welcome."
T bone lifted his torso back up in a perfect position, now turning to head out with Corazon who was already at the door. He gave a small smile to Theodore who waved them off as they were going to continue their tour.
