Summary
At the beginning of his seventh Hogwarts year Harry decides to search for the Horcruxes on his own, leaving Hermione and Ron behind at Hogwarts. While following uncertain leads, he forms an unexpected bond with a rare magical snake who accompanies him on his journey, even as he is forced to face Voldemort sooner than anticipated.
Meanwhile, Hermione and Ron remain at Hogwarts, where they restart the Defence Club and begin preparing other students, quietly building resistance within the school.

The sarcophagus was gone when they returned to Grünewald. The charred corpse of Herr Knock laid exposed and discarded in its place. The three of them made quick work of giving last rites and burying the remains which crumbled to ash when tossed into its dark pit within the earth.
No sign of Orlok or Ellen was found.
Thomas is still uncertain if it is despair or relief he's felt since the discovery. His mind is a whirlwind, his emotions a roaring ocean. What Thomas does know is this: that Orlok lives and so, too, must Ellen — in some way, some manner — and depending on that manner, Professor Franz and Dr. Sievers would murder her the same as the count.
A sort of madness sinks its teeth into him as he faces this understanding; Thomas is aware, distantly, that his thoughts turn ever more monstrous.

Hadrian Potter survived the Chamber of Secrets. After the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry helps Snape survive Nagini's bite and decides to become a Healer. Harry and Draco strike up a friendship that begins with Harry asking him for Potions advice. When he heals Astoria of her Malediction and makes it possible for them to have a child, Harry and Draco become close.
Years later, Severus fortuitously returns from travelling (avoiding England) just as Harry is looking for an innovative Potions Master to work on a project restoring magic to Squibs.
Harry has long held a torch for Snape and hopes they'll finally, at the very least, call a truce. Severus still grasps at the many assumptions he made about Potter in order to deny that he's long known them not to be true. He certainly can't imagine they'll get along but Potter... Harry is friendly and respectful and sparks of a different kind than before fly between them and ignites something special.
The MCD warning and Sad Ending tag might turn some people away but there's a stopping point where you can get off the... train, as it were, and pretend there's a happier ending if you want. I'll be clear where this is. Hopefully, knowing this, more people choose to read my story.
