Boston's Ilya Rozanov decides to do what he'd been putting off for years. He calls off his affair with Shane Hollander, Montreal extraordinaire, right before a Montreal vs Boston game. He gets a hockey puck shot right into his hamstring for it. Right in the middle of the game. Honestly, he never guessed Hollander had it in him to be vindictive.
As for Shane...it works. He didn’t want to see Rozanov anymore. In this game. In this season. And now Ilya’s out. Ball and chained to healing and recovery, pain meds and physical therapy for the next year. Maybe when Rozanov comes back, Shane will be able to stomach breathing the same air as him again.
And Rozanov will be back. That much is guaranteed. Shane just fails to measure how back Ilya Rozanov will be. If he thought Rozanov was a nightmare on the ice before his injury, he’s got a reckoning coming.

After yet another meeting at the Golden Tower, where Jin Guangshan seems unable to breathe just by mentioning Wei Wuxian and repeats like a broken record that he wants both him and the Yin Tiger Seal, the situation explodes. Not content with that, he also demands that the few surviving Wen be handed over to the Jin “for judgment.”
Jiang Cheng has already tried to talk to Wei Wuxian. He came back more frustrated than ever, with zero results and a massive headache. So, for “one last diplomatic attempt,” Jin Guangshan decides to send Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue. Obviously not because he trusts them, or because he believes in peace at all: he just hopes that Wei Wuxian will make a mistake, even a tiny bit, so as to have the perfect pretext for an attack.
Lan Xichen leaves full of optimism, Nie Mingjue with a headache. At the Funeral Mountains they find no armies or living corpses, but elder Wen men tending the fields. The only thing they don't find... is Wei Wuxian. Instead, they discover that he is in Yiling every day, at the inn he opened with the few surviving Wen. The woods were so quiet–dead quiet, eerily quiet. No owl, no deer, no coyote, no fox, not even a single squirrel or chipmunk or chickadee. There were tracks, though–fox tracks that as soon as they both noticed, they dodged so as not to ruin them, like the fox would need to retrace his steps for some reason.
That wasn’t the sign Hawk was looking for. He was looking for the visual affirmation of something, good or bad, right or wrong, in the fauna of the woods, but there was none.
But that coyote on the edge of the river returned to his mind–the trickster. That could have been a sign, one Hawk didn’t even know he’d needed or had to look out for until now.
