Chapter Text

Secretary looked to his left and saw a patient engulfed in flames and screeching in pain, no problem, Security was already on her way back with a fire extinguisher. The problem was the anomaly standing on his right side.

Secretary absolutely hated looking at anomalies, they made him feel nauseous every time he had to see their horrifying smiles or their eyes that didn’t quite sit right in their faces. Secretary suppressed a gag and looked away from the anomaly.

He could hear Security taking out the fire for the other patient, it was only a matter of time before he could close the shutters.

Secretary turned over to the patient that wasn’t an anomaly while Security went over to deal with the other one. Secretary let out a sigh of relief when the anomaly let out a roar of pain before scurrying out of the hospital.

This was probably the 7th anomaly of the shift and it was slowly getting to him. He needed another coffee soon enough, to bad Paramedic decided to take the last one. Now he had to wait a hundred seconds for another.

He yanked the badge out of the printer and handed it over to the patient, watching as they stumbled off, likely still in pain from the fire.

Secretary thought about helping them get to their room, but then Security would have to be trusted with the check in, and that wouldn’t end well.

Secretary looked over at the door, one anomaly walking in again, this time with three conjoined eyes, each with their own pupils that decided to choose to stare directly at Secretary.

And as if it couldn’t get any worse, Ron from Accounting decided he wanted to come back. Secretary groaned as he walked in, of all the reoccurring visitors to the hospital, Ron came the most.

Security sighed, “I think I’ll tase this anomaly, there won’t be another ambulance for a while.”

She walked out of the check in to go tase the anomaly a little to quickly, and just as she left, Ron walked back in.

”Hello again.” Ron pushed up his glasses, that same indifferent expression rested on his face.

“Yep, hello again.” Secretary said through gritted teeth, Ron still hadn’t put his admission papers on the desk. Secretary already knew he would be here for a while.

”How’s your shift been, you look a but disheveled.” Ron said.

“I do?” Secretary looked down at his own shirt, it wasn’t exactly perfect sure, but it wasn’t to bad.

“…whatever, I’m perfectly fine,” Secretary grumbled, Ron lifted an eyebrow but didn’t question it any further than that.

Secretary should’ve done the usual by now, asked for his papers and sent him off. But instead, he wanted to talk for a while. Whats the harm in that?

”So, um… where do you work?” Secretary asked, leaning onto the table.

Ron tilted his head, “what’s it to you?”

”Ugh,” Secretary rolled his eyes, “I can’t make conversation at work now?”

“Never thought you’d be the type.” Ron smirked, “I love my job thank you very much, pays very well as you can see.” Ron gestured to his attire, Secretary looked his up and down.

“I wish I could tell.” He murmured.

Ron seemed like he had a rebuttal to that, but he just smiled back, “how about you, how do you feel about your job?”

“I love it actually.” Secretary said, “it’s a more, ‘generous’ and ‘caring’ job. Atleast, moreso than accounting is.”

Ron smiled, “that’s nice isn’t it, you seem generous and caring.”

Secretary could felt a bud of happiness well up at the compliment, then he picked up on the sarcasm.

”Well aren’t you such a nice and accommodating person.” Secretary forced a smile.

”And wealthy.” Ron smiled, “have you ever dined at an expensive restaurant?”

”Ofcourse I have!” Secretary was lying through his teeth, after this shift he had to go restock on ramen noodles or else he’d starve at home.

”Name one.” Ron challenged.

”Papers please.” Secretary patted the desk.

”Just one, theres no way you haven’t heard of a single on before?”

”I have! How about… Olive Garden.”

”Olive Garden!” Ron covered him mouth, “thats expensive to you?” He snickered.

Secretary felt his cheeks burn with shame, “oh whatever. Papers, now.”

”If you’d like I can take you to an expensive diner, I doubt you’d be able to afford something on the menu though.” Ron taunted.

”I bet I could, I could probably buy out the whole thing.” Secretary smirked.

Ron stared at him for a moment, “Wait, does that mean you’ll actually go?”

“Of course I will, unless your scared to get caught in your lie?” Secretary grinned now, seeing Ron flustered made his entire day.

Ron pushed his glasses up his face, “Ahem, ok then, I will come over later and we’ll actually go then.”

”After this shift.” Secretary challenged.

”Deal!” Ron replied, a bit more excited than before, he immediately switched back to being stoic.

“Good, Papers please.” Secretary replied, watching as Ron slid his papers underneath the desk.

He filed them out, took the picture, and handed him his pass.

“Room seven.” Ron stated, before walking away from the desk.

Secretary turned over to Security immediately, as he always did.

“Did you see his face? I can finally see him drop that smug look he always has once we go to that restaurant to!” Secretary gushed

Security let out a anguished sigh.

”Whats wrong?”

Security let out another groan, “that’s… that isn’t a challenge. That’s a date kid. Thats a date.”

Oh. Oh.
“Wait, what?” Secretary was glad Security was was to focused on the cameras to actually turn  around, because now his face was absolutely flushed.

”Yeah. But enjoy dinner together, invite me to the wedding while your at it.” Security chuckled.

”oh shut up,” Secretary turned away to check in the next patient. But his heart was pumping awfully quick.

For some reason, even if it wasn’t going to be some challenge, he still felt excited.

He was mortified, there was no shot he was actually excited to go on a… date. With Ron of all people. Ron from accounting. Maybe he could cancel it. But then it would look like he was running away from the challenge.

Secretary wanted to go hide away in some hole and never come back out, but then again… seeing Ron in a bowtie at some restaurant in front of him…

Secretary immediately pushed the though away, he hd some patients to check in first, he took their papers, quickly checking them in.

But no matte how much they focused on work. The fact their hands were trembling from the thought of going on a date with Ron was a but harder to just push off.

Notes:

This was originally gonna be a one fic thing, but there isn't enough here for it to really even be considered an actual ship, just implied and hinted, so Im gonna make one or two more chapters to this one... eventually.
