This can be read completely independently, chapter's 1-9 are exactly the same as my original story, chapter 10 is mostly the same with just some minor differences at the end, forward it will be a different story with a happy ending due to popular demand. There is still a healthy dose of angst, jut, yk, it actually ends well. In the end notes of chapter 10 I will post what the differences in that chapter from the original if people coming from the original work don't want to reread it all

That was until an uncle that she never heard about moves in with them after his hotel burnt down. But that wasn’t the worst thing.
Her mom’s brother’s son, a so-called ‘Freeling’ imposter.
That thing wasn’t human, there was no way. From him chugging bleach to his arm being reattached by super glue, that thing was trouble.
Esther knew she had to get rid of it — to protect her real family, she just hoped she could before Ben or herself talks her out of it.

Nathan was not well. One day, while wandering through the forest in an attempt to escape the voices that urged him to do terrible things, he stumbled upon a child sitting next to a hole, dropping pebbles. Nathan froze.

He couldn’t tell, and the thought made him chuckle despite himself.The child looked up, smiled, and in that instant Nathan knew he had screwed up—in the best possible way.
