Dabi watched as blonde hair disappeared behind the door, it slamming shut in his face.
He let out a sigh, turning around and dropping down onto their battered blue couch, rubbing his temples before dropping his head into his hands.
“I’m willing to bet money on this being the Commission.” Shigaraki hissed, blue hair casting a looming shadow over his face as he looked down.
“Damn Birdie, never telling us anything.” Dabi looked up suddenly, a smirk spreading across his face. “I guess i’ll just have to find out what’s going on myself.”
“You mean…” Togas face lit up. “You’re going to GASLIGHT HAWKS? You’re going to gaslight him into telling you about what happens with the Commission! So evil!”
“What?” He scrunched his eyebrows. “No! I would never!”
“Yes you would! I bet you’re only refusing to because you love him!” She squeezed her eyes shut, crossing her arms, frowning and looking away.
The normal skin along his cheekbones warmed, a slight pink flush spreading before he could stop it.
“No I do not!”
Toga opened one eye, turning towards him slightly. The corners of her lips turned upwards. “Yes you do! You’re just so grumpy you can’t accept it! And he probably likes you too, the way he looks at you. I mean, seriously, have you seen him? His eyes go all shiny like he’s from one of those anime things that Spinner watches! You know, the one with the green hair freckled girl and the purple hair boy? Yeah, just like that!”
“Hey, it’s educational and interesting!” Spinner stuttered.
“No, he doesn’t love me, you’re just delusional Toga. And I don’t love him either, so cut it off.”
She sighed, pouting and sitting on a bar stool. “You’ll understand it one day, Dabi. Just like me, I understand it! Maybe I need to teach you! You can learn how to love Hawksie just like how I love Izuku and Ochaco!” She giggled, her face flushing red.

Knock. Knock. Knock. Knock.
“Ugh, IM COMING!” Hawks yelled, rolling his eyes.
He glanced wearily at the clock on his wall.

Who the hell was at his door on his day off so early?
The bird pulled himself out of bed, rubbing his eyes and stretching before straightening his posture. He threw on a pair of crimson slippers and rushed to the front door.
Hawks sighed, pushing down the handle. “Hel-“
“HAWKS, WE HAVE PLANS, YOU’RE NEVER, EVER THIS LATE! I THOUGHT YOU DIED, STUPID! YOU DIDNT PICK UP YOUR PHONE! NEVER DO THAT TO ME AGAIN!”
“Rumi?” He blinked.
“I mean, if you felt sick or something you should’ve texted me, I would’ve come over!” She pushed his door open, letting herself in.
“C’mon, man, you ne-“ her face dropped, jaw hanging wide open.
Hawks locked the door, turning around to meet her eyes staring wide open into his.
“Hawks… your wings.”
After all, is a bird still a bird, even with no wings?
“I- Uhm- I mean- There was an… accident! It was my fault, it’s okay though! For real, don’t worry, they’re already growing back!”
“Were you not planning on telling anyone?” Rumi frowned.
“Wha- Look,” he sighed. “Things have been… hectic, okay? I was going to, but ended up falling asleep and then I guess my alarm didn’t go off and I just-“
“Whoa, slow down there! It’s fine. Let’s make some coffee, sit down, and talk about what happened, yeah?”
“I-“ His eyes fell to the floor, shame looming over him. He didn’t want to talk, not yet. If anyone found out about the League or the Commission, it was over for him. Hawks had heard about Lady Nagant, and he didn’t want to be framed as a villan, he wanted to help people, he always had.
The one thing he wishes for; A world where heroes have too much time on their hands.
He would make that happen.
He’d give up his quirk, his job, anything!
But if everyone thought he was evil, would his goal still be possible?
Could Keigo Takami really make his dreams come true if everyone saw him as a villain?
But Rumi was stubborn.
He knew that.
“Hawks… you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
What?
He nodded slowly, biting his lip.
Rumi had this weird, sympathetic look on her face, and Hawks felt somewhat exposed even though he’d barely said anything.
His eyes glassed over, but he blinked it back.
Not now.
Not ever.
He felt two arms wrapped around him, and surprisingly leaned into them, scrunching his eyes closed.
Eventually, Rumi did brew them both some coffee, and they sat and drank it in silence.
“Thank you, Rumi. You’re my best friend, you know.”
She smiled, tilting her head to the side and bringing her hand up to ruffle his shiny, blonde hair.
“I know. You can tell me anything, Hawks, but only when you’re ready to. Don’t ever feel pressured. I gotta go now, ‘kay? Take care of yourself.”
And before he knew it, he was the only person in his apartment again, staring blankly at his wall.
