a morning without fear

Chapter 2: Five more minutes

Summary:

Neither of them moved. After another minute, Soleum sighed. “…Get out of bed.”

Saheon cracked open his eye and lifted his head from Soleum’s neck, where’d he decided using him as a pillow. He could’ve fallen asleep like this even though they were sitting up.

“..I don’t want to.”

..Who did he think he was?

Chapter Text

Saheon stared at him for a long second, questioning if his psychopathic workaholic of a boyfriend was joking about it or not.

“…Are you serious?”

Soleum’s expression didn’t change.

“No.”

The idea actually sounded nice to Soleum himself, I mean, getting any sort of break from his terrifying line of work felt like a blessing itself.

Right. Getting points for that wish ticket could wait just another day couldn’t it?

A beat of silence, purposely dragged out by him before he gave a response.

“Maybe.”

Saheon let out a defeated groan, voice still hoarse from being forced out of sleep and slumped his forehead against Soleum’s shoulder.

“..You’re cruel.”

‘Crazy bastard’ was something Soleum assumed was more accurate to what Saheon would’ve actually said if they weren’t, well, dating at the moment.

Soleum brought his gaze towards Saheon’s lips once more before pondering.

“You were the one who was clearly against waking up.”

Soleum slipped his hand into Saheon’s hair and stroked it, a harsh difference from the way he most likely ripped out a few of Saheon’s hairs to get him up a few minutes ago.

“Ah. Unless it was a ploy to get me to kiss you, you should’ve just asked.” Soleum teased, feeling Saheon’s whole body jolt.

“Sir- I mean! Babe..” Saheon’s teeth gritted, even while buried in Soleum’s collarbone. “..You let me kiss you.”

“Right. I almost forgot how desperate you looked.”

“..Crazy bastard….”

There it was.

“You just called me babe?”

“…”

“…”

“…That doesn’t count.”

Saheon’s arms slipped around his waist as they were earlier, a faint tremble to them- Soleum mentally pictured the flustered look on the face that was digging into his shoulder.

Soleum couldn’t stop the smile that escaped, releasing the hand that was stroking the soft brown strands of hair.

Saheon looked up immediately, his expression morphing into that of a beaten up puppy left on the street.

Why did he look rejected? Is he serious?? He was probably cursing him out mentally as well…

‘..Good grief.’ Soleum sighed internally, pushing back the thoughts of finding that viper endearing- He placed his hand back into the locks of hair, resuming the movements that made Saheon tighten his grip.

The alarm began ringing for a third time.

Instead of doing anything about it, Saheon buried his face into Soleum’s neck with a dramatic groan.

“I hate mornings.”

“I noticed.”

“I hate work.”

At least they had something in common.

“I noticed that as well.”

“I think I’m getting a fever.”

?

Talk about dramatic. It was getting harder by the day to believe this was actually a feared character in the wiki.

“You feel perfectly normal.”

Soleum debated moving his hand from his hair to check his temperature, but he had enough evidence to deduce the fact he was overreacting.

“..You checked?”

“You had your arms wrapped around me the whole night.”

“…Yeah.” Saheon reluctantly agreed, clearly wanting to strangle himself with a pillow from embarrassment.

Soleum reached over without looking and silenced the alarm again. “This is the last snooze.”

Saheon squinted his singular eye at the clock.

“Eight minutes.” Soleum replied with that same tone and mannerism of indifference.

Clearly annoyed at getting cut off, Saheon stole another kiss as an act of rebellion- pecking his lips quickly before moving back.

To think this was the person that full on believed he was a psychopath and tried physically avoiding him whenever he could, I mean-

He was the cause of Saheon’s missing eye, but who was the one that went for their unsuspecting coworker during orientation? And that same person is his boyfriend now… Such character development, Soleum shuddered inwardly.

He shook his train of overwhelming thoughts away, directing his attention towards Saheon.

“Seven.” Soleum corrected, now letting a slight glare settle over his expression.

“..Stop counting.” Saheon groaned, shuffling his grasp on his waist.

“We need to get to work on time.”

“You- weren’t you the one who suggested calling in sick..!”

Soleum rolled his eyes, though the warmth creeping into his face betrayed him. It was true he made the offer himself…

“I was.”

Yeah, maybe just a day off will be okay. Soleum sat himself upright, dragging Saheon along with him.

“..Are we or not..?”

Saheon asked, moving to settle behind him with his arms still locked around his waist.

Soleum let a silent sigh escape his lips.

“We are.”

For a moment, neither of them spoke. Soleum took in the atmosphere of the familiar room, It was peaceful for now. Somewhere along the way, this had become normal. He wasn’t certain whether that was comforting or concerning.

Soleum shook his head with quiet resignation, before leaning over one last time- pressing a quick kiss against Saheon’s forehead.

“Get up.”

“..Fine.”

An audible grumble was heard from Saheon as he finally removed his hold on Soleum, shuffling his way out of bed.

He did the same, checking up on braun as Saheon purposely slipped out faster than he wanted to- avoiding whatever conversation his boyfriend was going to have with that most likely cursed rabbit doll.
