Chapter Text

Okay, maybe he should rest a bit.

Twixxel had been walking through the void for what? Minutes? Hours? He didn't know but it has been so long since he has sat down on the flat floor... Though it wouldn't bring him comfort since it was just a hard and rigid surface.

His legs felt as if hundreds of daggers were stabbing them with each step he took, and it made him feel that his legs would give out any time soon. He's basically just making himself suffer more by continuing to walk through this space.

If Mob was with him, he would have recommended to sit down and relax a long time ago.

The thought crossed his mind multiple times. He simply would say that 'he'd sit down in five minutes' but actually wouldn't and went on with his exploration. Not like he could check the time because, as he said, he didn't know what time it was nor had a clock to check.

The big, glass tree he had seen was long gone, disappeared as the distance between the thing and him grew farther and farther. Thinking of it reminded him of the various wounds he had around his body and he tossed the thought aside. The bloody imagery stuck to his mind like a plague. Usually, he wouldn't mind gore as he had seen it before but seeing himself have such deep cuts and gashes was disgusting... Plus, the fact he could see his own heart moving only grossed him even more.

He preferred to not be reminded of it. He did not want his mind to focus on that and instead focus on walking.

Other than that tree, he had not seen anything different around this place, and he wouldn't go back there to solely rest. Because that would mean he'd have to walk more, and he didn't like that idea at all. It would also be a waste of time to go back and then return to where he currently is and he just wants to get out of here as soon as possible.

The Void was not like anything he had imagined. Empty? Yeah. Quiet? Sure, but to actually be a place where you can walk and not fall endlessly permanently was not what he had expected.

It had an eerie environment that made someone feel strange... he couldn't describe how, but it just did for some odd reason.

Maybe it was the odd feeling from the wounds that made his chest tighten... or the fact this place did not make him uncomfortable unlike how he usually felt whenever he wandered to a new biome.

Twixxel was unsure of this, nor did he know if he wanted to truly know about it.

He decided to take a break from all of this walking, not wanting to risk falling down face-front onto the floor. Truthfully, he should have done this so long ago but his determination to find something else blinded him.

Careful as to not cause more pain than he already is going through, Twixxel bent his knees and placed them on the floor to kneel down. He'd then shift himself to be in a more comfortable sitting position, even if the floor did not help his case of wanting to rest a bit.

He stretched his legs and put both of his arms on the floor, feeling the coldness of it pressing against his hands. This time, he did not pull away like he had done with the tree since it wasn't as cold as the large structure was.

Though the pain was still there, it felt slightly better than it did when he was walking through the space. He knew he'd have to wait it out so that the pain would at least go away a bit and wouldn't consistently bother him so much.

He let out another breath, relieved to take a break. The idea of removing his boots crossed his mind, to maybe help the pain, but it went away. It probably wouldn't help much in this situation... plus he'd prefer not having to take so long to put on a singular boot.

One of his hands reached for the scarf that was around his neck to feel the softness of it. He couldn't help but not get tired of the texture of it... (It was the only thing he even had that reminded him of Mob. Feeling it made him happy and grateful for his best friend.)

The thought of his best friend made a smile appeared on his face. Gosh, he missed Mob so damn much. Of course it wasn't in a romantic sense- a lot of people would assume that by the way he'd describe him or because of how excited he gets whenever he sees Mob but that just isn't true. They both were uncomfortable with it.

Twixxel really cared for Mob. The contrast between them from when they acted when they first met and how they acted now was visibly different. He made sure that Mob could be comfortable to tell him anything and vice versa. If anything, Twixxel considered Mob like a brother to him because of how close they are with each other.

Now that he was stuck here, he missed the familiar presence of his best friend. He wanted nothing more but to go back the real world and help Mob against Verity... but he couldn't. He wishes for it, but he really couldnt. It was painfully obvious why.

He was curious of Mob's current status... was he doing all right? Was he able to get rid of Verity? Or was he currently trapped against his own will and with nothing he could do? That last thought made him frown... he hoped that wouldn't be the case right now.

Verity wasn't just a normal AI. Twixxel understood this well considering the fact that the AI knew of the 'Stalker' even though he hadn't told anyone of that encounter before - not even Mob! Twixxel accepted the simple fact that Verity was definitely not supposed to exist, or at least not from this... world.

Both himself and Mob had fallen for Verity's sweet act when they first met him. I mean, a literal ball who knew everything? That sounded amazing if you thought about it at first! But it didn't take a genius to understand that -as the world progressed- Verity was anything far from normal.

Twixxel's studies told him more than what he initially needed to know. Verity had existed long before this world had been created or at least that's what he understood from the texts that he read. The thing was basically immortal - almost nothing could kill him! That made their case much more difficult... how could they defeat this thing if it couldn't be killed by anything at all?

The only way to stop Verity... was to force him to do so. That's what Twixxel was able to comprehend. There was no other way to get rid of the AI as he wasn't supposed to be in this world with them.

He could only hope that Mob was able to do something about this situation... if he did so, then he's happy for him. At least he can rest in peace without that thing.

Anyways, he should get up. He didn't rest for much but it was enough time for him to take a few breaths and for the pain to lessen.

Twixxel bent one of his knees up to his chest whilst the other stayed extended. With the help of both of his hands he pushed himself up until his legs were folded and the outsole of his boots were pressing against the floor. Using both of his hands again he would let his body carefully get up. He dusted his clothes off in case of any existing dust that could have potentially fallen on him whilst sitting there.

The small pain of his feet would return, but it wasn't as painful as earlier. It felt better then it had before he rested for the few minutes.

"Well, time to continue on, haha..." He mumbled to himself, raising his hand and letting it go through the threads of his dark hair. Pain went through his shoulder because of the movement, reminding him that a part of the shoulder had been ripped off of his body so it would only be normal that the movement would have hurt.

He put his right hand on that shoulder only to feel it go down as if that spot was empty (which it was). He pulled his hand away quickly at the feeling, not liking it at all. It made him uncomfortable and he did not know why he did even though he knew what would happen.

 Finally, Twixxel started to walk.

Unlike how he started, where he felt lost and nervous, he now felt... calmer, in a way. He assumed that it may have been because he gave himself a bit of time to think quietly about this. A break was something he needed and he wouldn't argue with it.

He glanced back for a moment, only seeing the long way from where he came from and how it extended very far away. It goes to show that he had been walking for a long time. The only point that he had to show how far of a distance he was walking was the large tree and now it was gone from his vision... if that even makes sense.

A sigh escaped from his mouth, moving his gaze to look forward. His left hand reached towards the satchel bag that was swinging at his left side. He placed his hand there, opening it and then closing it repeatedly as it had a magentic button. Another habit of his that he had no idea why he would do so.

Twixxel felt the same way he had when he has begun this... trip. However, he didn't feel as horrible as he had felt before. Sure, the lingering pain of his injuries was there whenever his clothes brushed against one of them but as long as he walked slowly he was fine. In fact, he felt particularly more confident of finding something new.

It was probably because of his earlier find of the tree. The structure had made him realize that maybe, just maybe, there is much more to this world than a black sky and a white, almost transparent flooring. It gave him a bit of comfort that he wouldn't just be walking through this place for eternity until he'd never wake up again.

His feet started to hurt a bit again but it wasn't a pain he couldn't handle. It was easy for him to ignore... especially since it wasn't as bad as earlier.

The silence around him was heavy. Well, he was alone in this space after all. (At least he believes that is the case.)  A thump could be heard every time he took a step, echoing through until the sound disappeared into the distance.

At last, he had found something new farther away from him. Though it was blurry because of the long separation between him, he knew it was a new structure.

As the gap was slowly closing off and he was approaching it, he was able to identify what it was.

A village, or something close to it.

A sense of hope washed through Twixxel. He had finally found something new in this world. Though he had not expected it would be a village of all things. Not that he was complaining! Out of everything he could have gotten, this was possibly the best thing yet.

"Finally..." he murmured with a small smile on his face. It had been so fucking long since he had seen anything other than the tree and he was happy! He wishes that maybe he can rest here for a bit until he regains energy to continue... or he'll just stay here for the time being here until he can find the exit out of this place.

While he was getting closer to it, he noticed that the place was quite... dull. It looked like it had been naturally created here because of how similar the color pallets matched well with its surrounding. The village was mostly white, with other shades of white and the darkest color being a dull gray.

Despite this, it looked nice and suitable to live in. It was pretty, but not as pretty as the tree.

Twixxel stepped through the path which was the same shade of white as the usual surface with small patches of light gray. Unlike the floor where he was walking on earlier, this one did not create a single sound at all (or it just barely did because he couldn't hear anything).

He noticed that each of these houses had a sign outside, some of these having the words 'taken by a resident' whilst others would have the words 'free to take'. He stared at it for a minute, considering whether to open it.

"Well... it does say that it is free to take. Soo that means no one lives there yet, I guess." He spoke to himself, opening the smooth white door easily and entering the house.

It was a small place but enough for him. At the right side of it was a white bed suitable for one person with a thick blanket covering it and a pillow above it. At the side of the bed was a small table with a lamp that seemed to not have a bulb in it. (Seriously, why would they even put a lamp if they aren't going to put in a light bulb in it?)

Close to him at his left was three gray and big chests placed one over the other with a barrel at the side of the chest on the floor. (Not that he needed them right now because of not having any items for the obvious reason.)

There was also a pale white crafting table set besides the door with a furnace above it that seemed to have maintained its natural color or a similar pallet to it.

It was a nice house despite being so small. He was comfortable with it... it even reminded him of where he lived when he was with Mob and Verity. The memory made his hand clench around his bag.

He glanced outside through the door, looking towards the sign. Checking the back, he noticed the same exact text other houses that were occupied had. He shrugged (it stung a bit to do so,) and flipped it to the side with said text - hiding away the 'Free to take'.

Twixxel walked further into the small house and shut the door behind him as to not let anyone inside. He went towards the bed, sitting on it and letting it sink his body a bit. The fabric of the blanket was soft, made out of what he presumed to be fur.

He looked out through the window which seemed to show the middle of the the village. There was multiple people, some alone, other's talking with each other.

One of these unknown people had brown hair with a purple bandana wrapped around his head. Not only this, but he had a spyglass in his hand and he was looking at it as if inspecting for any broken parts. Something that caught Twixxel's attention, though, was the fact that his face had marking as if something had exploded in front of him or something like that. It worried him a bit. The guy seemed to be deep in thought. (How odd.) They stood near a fountain of sorts, the water pulsing out of the center and falling into the small pool below it.

Across the guy stood two other people. The first one being someone with void black skin and bright white eyes. He could not see any features of this... person? Creature? He didn't know. Meanwhile the other who spoke to the person had pale white skin with small head wings at the side of their head. It didn't surprise him, he'd seen inhuman people after all, but he was mesmerized by these people.

 Where they stuck, too?

The question formed in his head but he dismissed it. He should rest as it has been a long... day? He'll just call it that.

Twixxel kicked off both of his boots, letting them fall on the floor with one standing whilst the other laid flat on the white wooden flooring. With a sigh, he pushed himself to lay down, not bothering to pull the blanket over him. He wasn't as cold as he was when he was walking outside...

Not bothering to remove any other piece of clothing, he buried his face into the pillow. It was comfy and melted itself under the pressure of his own head. He hummed.

For once something actually good had happened today.

Notes:

Fun fact! I kind of mixed Mob's and Twixxel's friendship with me and my sibling's relationship which is why Twixxel is quite fond of Mob. Despite all the jokes and insults they would throw at each other, Twixxel cared for Mob dearly and the same could be said the other way. Twixxel can't keep Mob off of his mind because he is very worried for him and doesn't want him to be hurt by Verity.

Notes:

I'll be slowly updating this! ^^

This is lowkey kind of ass but uudwja
