Chapter Text

“Well, you can never tell where it’ll drop you next.” A portal emerged, the pink energy of it crackled out of thin air. The man broadcasting appeared out it or more so pushed him onto the grassy plain. He landed with a thud. “That never..gets easier.” Composing himself with a soft grunt, brushing off the leaves and dirt from his clothes. He picked up the recorder, “My name is Robin Hoyt and this is “𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀 𝐓𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫.”

Robin observed his surroundings,it seemed normal at first. The leaves turning a faint orange, soft breezes of the coming fall season. The man started to navigate the terrain. “It looks like I ended up in a forest,it strangely looks ordinary too.” After being gone from home for so long,Robin thought the normalcy would comfort him. It didn’t,a soft pain grew in his throat. “Y’know Tavers,I sometimes still feel..homesick? Not for Lil’ Thicket but for my friends more so. That probably sounds confusing.” Twigs crunched under his boots as he walked. The evening sky was overhead, its green hue covering the horizon. He gazed up at it,a soft chuckle left him. “Okay, maybe not everything is normal here. It’s still nice though..”

“Isidora would’ve liked it here. She always loved to gaze up at the stars.” Robin’s look hung low, clearing his throat before speaking again. “Honestly, I’m surprised I haven’t spotted anyone out here yet..” A snap of a branch made him pause. He stopped in his tracks, stance stiffening out in slight fear. The noise happened again, over and over until Robin heard it from behind him. Quickly turning his head,it was a tree branch reaching out at him. His head tilted slightly in confusion before the branch thrashed at him. “Totally not normal!!…”, he exclaimed before running away from the attacking tree. As he ran off it seemed more trunks tried to claw at him.

What seemed to be forever of running,he slowed down;catching his breath. “Maybe.. 𝘩𝘶𝘧𝘧. I should try taving somewhere else. Before I get mauled by a tree..” He clicked off his recorder, grabbing the transmitter. “Testing,Testing.”, he spoke into the microphone. “I can’t tell where I landed.” Feedback rang loudly from the device,it seemed to be damaged from the earlier encounter. “If anyone can hear this,my name is Robin Hoyt and I…damn it..” He lightly smacked it,hoping for something. A response at least. His friend,Copper had given him that gadget so he could relocate back home or interact with nearby frequencies.

It was late, the dark red sky looming over him as fiddled with the transmitter. Failure won him out. He glanced back up looking anything he could use to help him. He spotted something behind the trees;approaching quietly. It was a cabin. He stepped closer. It was a campsite,a sigh of ease left him. Slowly,he crept out from the foliage;the cabin nearby had no lights on. He peered through but no one was inside, just first aid supplies. Robin gazed at the other ones,no lights,no sign of people. Until,a small lodge near the entrance had a faint glow from its covered windows.

With a new hope,he made his way to the lodge. Taking a look at the exterior of it,seemed fine. He looked around once before stepping onto the porch. The old floorboards groaned under his footing. Robin suddenly spotted something out of the corner of his sight, coming from the window. His gaze snapped towards it but nothing was there, just blinds. A sense of being watched arose in him, pushing him even more to go inside. He decided to knock. Someone could be living here he thought. 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘬 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘤𝘬. Silence;until the door violently opened and he was greeted with a lady pointing a flamethrower directly at him. His hands instantly raised up in surrender/fear. “hey,Hey! I come in peace!!” He declared. The woman’s stern grin on the handle tightened. “How did you get in here?..” She questioned.

Talk about weird introductions.
