Chapter Text
At the bar with Ash >>
Ash kept talking to the girl, but he couldn't shake off this feeling that breaking up with Squiddo was a big, big big mistake.
He was talking to this other girl Mapicc had introduced him to, but no, he didn't want to talk to this random girl.
Oh, by the way, my name's Lacie.
Well she's not random now- at least.
Something caught the corner of his eye.
Lacie rambled, "So what do you do for a-"
Ash interrupted. "Sorry Lacie. Would you excuse me for a minute?" and he walked off.
Lacie looked flabbergasted, like someone punched her in the stomach or something.
Ash walked over to the bar's bathroom and saw Redd retching through the half-glass half-wooden door.
Ash didn't want to be here. Never did.
ASH POV
I shouldn't be here right now. I think Redd thinks I would get over Squiddo this way but I don't think so anymore. I should probably go home..
-
As Ash turned to leave, Mapicc grabbed his arm and slurred "Wherrareyagoingashhhh??? Theparty'sonlyyystarrrrted!!!"
Ash pulled him to the corner and spoke: "Mapicc, you're drunk. I'll drive you home, okay?"
Mapicc nearly spat at him while speaking. I guess he didn't want to leave.
"Ashhhhh!!Idon'twannaleaaaaaaaaveee..."
Ash slung Mapicc over his shoulder, Mapicc making at least a million retching sounds in Ashswag's car, each time handing him a different paper bag.
Redd curiously slurred, "Assshhhhhh?Whydoyouhavvvvveesomanypaperbagssss?
Ash focused, his eyes on the road while replying to him, "Just in case, you know? Squiddo used to have really bad motion sickness."
Mapicc felt his sharp inhale when he mentioned Squiddo, so he didn't ask anymore questions to not upset him more.
Mapicc was still in the car, Ash had told him to wait there.
Ash took the spare key on the sconce outside his apartment, and unlocked the door.
He pretended the key didn't basically melt his hand off, he threw it across the room the minute the door opened.
It left a splotchy red mark on his fingers.
Ash helped Mapicc up the stairs, made him some food, or well, "food" before leaving and left.
He then realized that he forgot his phone at the bar.
"Oh shit, I forgot my phone at the bar. Hope no one stole it.."
While he was driving back, Squiddo was also getting ready to go to the bar as well, wearing a sundress coloured orange and white, with little daisies sticking out of the bottom of the skirt. She paired it with a little orange ribbon around her neck with a small pearl necklace given to her by Ash. It's definitely her favorite piece of jewelry, she wore it everywhere.
Ash entered the bar, asking the bartender if he'd seen a phone on the tables, with a purple and black glitch phonecase.
The bartender handed him his phone and asked him to unlock it, and he did.
When he opened his phone, a picture of Squiddo popped up.
He completely forgot Squiddo was his background.
The bartender seemed to notice his face fall the minute he opened his phone, so he asked Ash if he wanted a beer.
"Do you want a beer or something? It's on the house."
Ash agreed and sipped his beer in silence, staring at the entrance, like he was waiting for someone to come inside, like Squiddo was going to enter, even if he knew she hated bars, especially a sleazy one like this.
But it was the only bar in town, and Squiddo was unknowingly headed to Ash, surely nothing could go wrong.. right?
...
Ash spotted her first.
He gazed at her for a while, looking at her like he'd forgotten how beautiful she actually is.
Ash didn't realize that Squiddo took notice of him as well, both of them staring at the other, until Ash looked away.
Ash thought to himself, experiencing nearly every emotion he could possibly know about.
Oh God, why'd she have to dress up so fancy tonight? And of all the places she could've gone to, she went here? She looks so beautiful, so perfect.. Oh Squiddo, why here? Why now?
Ash knew that he'd do anything to kiss Squiddo right here, right now, but no, it isn't right. Right?
On the other hand, Squiddo was pacing and rethinking everything she'd ever done with ash, thinking everything she'd done to get over him was a mistake. A big, big, big mistake.
With tears welling up in Squiddo's eyes, she nearly leapt out of her chair and took her bag from the table, and left, but-
Ash raced over to her, and grabbed her hand.
"Squiddo, don't do this to me. Not again."
