“They’re talking about you.” Nagi mumbles. Leaned back in his desk chair— the best kind. Courtesy of Reo.
His Reo, who’s effortlessly clipping the beautiful edges of his fingernails. Hair pulled up in a loose tie and bangs obscuring his face, engulfed in a shirt that’s way too big to be his own.
“Hm?” The midfielder says back, sending Nagi a quick glance. “They?”
Honestly, Nagi’s not sure why the words slipped past his lips. Talking about it means intriguing Reo. And, well, an intrigued Reo isn’t easy to deny.
Nagi beckons for him to come over to see. Reo obliges with a raise of a dainty brow.
“Chronically offline? What’s that mean?” He mutters, cheek pressed against Nagi’s.
“You answered your own question, Reo..”
Confusion contorts Reo’s face. “Ha?”
Seeing Reo like this, face wrinkled and eyes squinting, is never less adorable than it always is. “It’s nothing. They’re all stupid anyways.”
Now— Reo falters slightly. He gently reaches forward to put Nagi’s phone away. Screen face down on the desk. As soon as both of Nagi’s hands are available, Reo uses them as leverage to climb on top of him.
Nagi lets him climb over his thighs. Sitting like this, Reo leaning against him, pulled into his lap, it’s a heart kicker every time. It’s addictive.
Pretty, Reo. Pretty Reo in my arms.
“What’s that about?” Reo asks while he gently scratches Nagi’s scalp. “Someone diss choki? Do I need to pull up?”
“Reo, we talked about this.. No talking like that when we cuddle.”
Seriously, oblivious Reo not knowing how awkward he sounds is too cute for when their bodies are intertwined.
“No?” The midfielder teases, completely ignoring the flat look that’s sent his way. His hands smoothly run laps around Nagi’s jaw. “Not even if I put on a suit?”
Nagi thinks the thought through, once, twice, before realising the thought of Reo in a slick suit on his lap is too great to become reality.
“Especially not when you’re in a suit..” He mumbles, voice lazy and eyes clouded with a new wave of Reo-included intensity.
“Yeah, thought so, treasure. Tell me what’s on your mind or I put the sunglasses on— too.”
Nagi groans. “Reo’s playing dirty.. not fair.”
Reo sends him an unimpressed look. One that says, in bold letters, to not test his patience. It doesn’t take much more than that for Nagi to give in. With a low growl and an ever more unenthusiastic glare, he starts to explain.
“Everyone’s so nosy now.”
Going public about their relationship had been Reo’s idea. They’d always talked about it. Yet, until Reo had brought it up on their anniversary, Nagi hadn’t thought it ever really mattered. At least not that much.
Being in a world with Reo seemed like it would always suffice.
It still very much does.
Nagi has no clue what Reo sees in the publicity. So far, all it’s brought is ruckus and overbearing fans. Nosy Reo enamoured fans that’d rather Nagi burn on a stick than kiss their favourite midfielder goodnight.
Nagi doesn’t care. Not really. It just pisses him off to imagine a world where he wouldn’t be able to kiss Reo’s eyelids shut— lull him to sleep, cradle him in his arms until he starts to snore.
“Nosy?” Reo repeats carefully. “You mean— the comments? People saying they want me for themselves?”
And, oh. Yeah. That’s pretty much exactly what Nagi’s so upset about.
“You couldn’t have laid that on a little easier?” The white haired striker whines, skin flushing. “Reo’s so mean..”
Reo wiggles slightly on top of him. “Actually? No. You have about four minutes until the countdown to your stream begins and I just got an alert from my driver, so—“ He smiles softly. “Wrap it up, big boy. You're making me late.”
Maybe Nagi would feel bad if it weren’t for the fact that he would postpone anything just for Reo.
“You don’t have to go.” Nagi says, voice caught between a plea and a whisper. “Ego shouldn’t need you for every Blue Lock exhibition. You’re not his plaything.”
Reo snorts— lovingly. Voice soft around the edges. “Yeah? And what, you don’t have to stream?”
Nagi shrugs in response, jostling Reo further into his arms. “Not really.”
“Yes, Seishirou. You do.”
No. No I don’t, Nagi yearns to counter with. I don’t have to do anything. Especially not when it doesn’t involve you.
“I could fight off your taxi driver. Tip him, tell him to fake a blown tire. Buy us some time— keep you here.”
They’re all valid offers. Totally worth consideration in Nagi’s opinion. But Reo doesn’t look half as impressed as Nagi had wished he’d be.
Instead of biting his lip and stroking Nagi’s hair like he always does when he caves in, Reo just snorts. The tips of his bangs move with him, falling gently over his cheeks. Nagi’s so caught up with his thoughts that he doesn’t react in time when Reo starts getting off of him.
Sliding off his thighs swiftly and easily, Reo quickly smoothens out the wrinkles on his linen pants. Nagi’s stuck in his place. Wanting to reach out, pull him back in. He doesn’t. Even if he wants to.
Reo takes his handbag. “You could fight for me on stream instead, don’t hit the poor guy in the taxi.”
Nagi groans and leans back in his chair— he feels too light without Reo on him. “I don’t get what you like about this.”
This being about Reo showing a liking to showing himself, and their relationship, off on his streams.
Nagi loves how focused Reo gets at the questions people flood the chat with. How he makes sure to dress up before appearing on camera. The way he plants himself on Nagi’s thigh once he decides to stay longer than he’d thought.
It’s lovable because it’s Reo in his space. Reo being himself— Reo looking so sickeningly sweet trying to understand how Nagi does what he does.
However, Reo obviously likes it for the show off aspect.
Reo licks his lips. “Well, everyone knows who I belong to now. Can’t I appreciate that?”
At that, Nagi’s heart skips a beat. “Is that it?” He mutters.
Is that what he wants to show off?
Reo’s already turned away and tucked his phone into the space between his shoulder and ear. Looking startled, he says: “What was that, treasure?”
“Nothing, Reo.”
Reo leaves with a smile and a kiss on Nagi’s cheek, and a promise to call when the exhibition’s finished.
In the first five minutes of his stream Nagi exceeds thirty thousand viewers. The chat whisks by so fast he can’t grasp a single comment. If Reo was here he’d be hearing gasps and praise, fussing and possibly a pout, what an amazing thought..
One comment catches his eye— the same words from that quote he’d gotten earlier, from the same person.
“No, I didn't bring my boyfriend.” Nagi mutters slowly. “Am I allowed to kick out Chigiri.. mods..?”

So, Reo likes to show people that he belongs to his treasure.
Nagi thinks he might be starting to get it. Reo wanted to go public about their relationship so that he could show the world just how deep their devotion runs. Right?
However, does showing off really feel that good?
Whenever Reo now kisses him in public or makes sure to correct people that call them ‘just friends’, or that assume they’ve got nothing to do with each other, Nagi just feels content.
But content can’t be all that Reo’s feeling. He’s sure of it. There must be more to this than Nagi knows.
He gets the notification that Reo’s posted when he’s out alone— for once— at team Japan’s specialised gym.

The post includes multiple photos from Reo’s camera roll. Most of them were taken during the exhibition, but even some from the hours after, together with their teammates.
The first photo— the cover photo— has Nagi running a shaky hand over knee. It’s a focused view on Reo holding a glass of wine, wrist turned upwards to show off his tattoo.
Reo made sure that even in a post made for promotion, they were the front page.
He's not entirely sure why that makes his body tingle so furiously. He just knows that he wants Reo to do this more. He almost wishes he’d been there with Reo to take the photo, a hand snaked around the midfielder’s own.
Nagi takes a long breath and blinks back to reality. Now that they’re official, there’s no need to hide his heart’s contents anymore. He types away at his phone:

It’s raw. Nagi feels it, the weight of those words— words Reo could never easily say publicly before they hard launched.
The feeling is warm and special. He belongs with Reo, Reo belongs with him. Content has been how he’s always described it. Because where else but with Reo would he want to be?
Moreover, where else would Reo be?
Nowhere but with Nagi.
Should people know that?
Yeah, Nagi realises. Why shouldn’t they..? Reo’s mine. That they should know. Should— because they absolutely need to.
And.. oh, is this what Reo feels like? If not, is it something akin to this?
“Possessive, that’s the word you’re looking for.” Rin tells him on the phone. “What? You just realised this?”
“I’ve been thinking a lot recently.” Nagi replies, matter of fact.
Rin scoffs. “I wouldn’t have guessed.”
“I just— I don’t think this is how Reo feels..” Nagi mutters and rolls his water bottle against the ground. “Possessive is too vicious for him. Yeah, he’s very frustrating— and he gets worked up easily, but that’s not it.”
“Eh? We were talking about Reo? Not you?”
It’s the genuine disbelief that gets to Nagi. “Why would we be talking about me?” He mutters.
“You’re obtuse.” Rin practically spits. “Do I need to spell it out for you?”
“You’re mean.” Nagi groans.
“And you’re obsessed, hyper-protective, possessive and utterly useless when it comes to realising the lengths you’d go for one person. Get a life. Bye.”
Nagi stares blankly at his screen after Rin hangs up.
There’s nothing there. Do not disturb does that much. Yet— reading Nagi’s mind like he always does, Reo texts him as the clock strikes noon. The message appears like a sign from heaven.
From Reo:
Do you need anything for your stream tonight? I’m at the store. On my way home right after.

Rin might be right, Nagi decides and sighs against the cool gym bench.
When it’s time for setting up stream later that night, Reo curiously looks his way from the doorway. Nagi switches the lights off and turns to face him.
“Reo?”
Reo slowly makes his way over to where Nagi sits.
“You finished your whole workout?” Reo’s lips brush Nagi’s temple as he slides onto his thighs. A familiar position. “Good boy, Seishirou. We’ll take it easy tomorrow.”
Nagi nods along without the slightest bit of hesitation. “You’re warm, Reo.. let’s cuddle.” He sighs tenderly.
”What are you doing tonight?” Reo blatantly ignores him, prompting Nagi to whine. “New game? The one I got for you?”
“Already finished it. Reo should buy me another one.”
Satisfaction makes the midfielder smile and aggressively squeeze Nagi’s face between his hands. Nagi hums, not bothered by Reo’s relentless attack. He got used to it years ago, and he liked it even before that.
The game Reo had bought for him was a demo version of an old simulator game which left mainstream before it was even released. Nagi had spent the majority of his time while streaming it banning people for calling Reo’s game taste outdated.
“You liked it?” Reo breathes, letting go of Nagi’s face to curl his arms around his head. Nagi pushes his cheek against Reo’s bicep. “Really?”
“Why’s Reo so surprised?” Nagi mutters.
Several dips and turns of his lips later, Reo settles for a soft smile and a timid bite of his lower lip. “I don’t know. I guess— no, I don’t know.. sorry.”
Nagi purses his lips, running a hand down Reo’s thigh in silent comfort.
“Did you need me for anything tonight?” Reo suddenly asks. “Or was that message earlier your way of spicing up our marriage?”
The world might’ve just gained its spark. Married to Reo? It’d be a dream come true.
Reo bumps his nose with a half suppressed giggle. “Just kidding.”
Nagi pouts pitifully and burrows his face into Reo’s arm. He contemplates sinking his teeth into the soft skin. Maybe not, maybe Reo would get off his thighs if he does.
“Will Reo stay with me while I stream?” Nagi asks shyly. It’s hard to contain his excitement. “Please?”
Another giggle. “What’s up with you lately?”
Reo, a lot of Reo. Never enough Reo.
Nagi blinks innocently and crosses his arms around Reo’s back, drawing him closer. “Is that a yes?”
“A yes to, what? Let me see—“ Reo taps his chin thoughtfully. “Getting a front row look of you blasting people’s heads off?”
“If Reo isn’t feeling like gore then I can play something wholesome.”
Intrigued, Reo leans closer. “Like?”
“Remember that foraging game?” Nagi twirls them slightly in the chair. “I could build us a cottage, Reo can plant crops.”
“Ah, I did like doing that..”
Nagi’s eyes light up. “See? You should stay.”
If he stays, nothing stands in Nagi’s way of making sure everyone knows how devoted he can get. Plus, he’d never pass on an opportunity to watch Reo aggressively thumb at his console and look down to see what buttons he’s pressing.
“Hey, I never said I wouldn’t.” Reo says— smile never diminishing. “Should I get another chair?”
Satisfaction twists inside his guts.
“Why? Reo has me.”

“I’m not turning the brightness up, chat.” Nagi stifles a groan. “Reo’s sleeping.”
Arm tucked around Reo, laid with his chest pressed to his back, Nagi has no choice but to keep his phone close to Reo’s face. Brighter isn’t an option. He won’t risk disturbing his sleep. Sleep— because Reo fell asleep shortly after they started their Q&A stream, and Nagi compromised by continuing it laid in bed.
Just, without Reo. Or with Reo. With an asleep Reo who makes cute sounds in his sleep.
A quiet hum comes from somewhere in Nagi’s arms. Nagi stares at Reo’s parted lips, instinctively angling his phone to hide some of his face. The familiar sound of a donation rings from his monitor. It’s too far away to be audible.
Positioning them in bed with his phone as the device which he’s streaming on wasn’t exactly the best choice of action, but Nagi still thinks there’s a lot of pros. Their bed is a lot more comfortable than his gaming chair and when laying down, holding Reo is a lot easier.
Reo’s eyes have been closed blissfully for at least half an hour now.
“Pretty.” The striker murmurs, mindlessly strolling his fingers over Reo’s clothed chest. It wouldn’t take a lot to dip them underneath his shirt.
Someone must’ve fixed it so he receives donations on his phone, because Nagi’s suddenly hit with a large text on his screen.
“Question, how long have you been together?”
Nagi hums, mindful of Reo’s ear. “I was born with Reo in my heart. Next question.”
Another question rolls out. “Will you continue Stardew Valley with Reo?”
“Not if you guys keep bullying him for planting strawberries in spring.”
“Do you two sleep in the same bed?”
“Eh? What does it look like?”
Stirring in his sleep, Reo subconsciously pushes his face into Nagi’s chest. It’s not long before his breaths start to even out again, pressed up against Nagi’s skin.
Where would he sleep except with Reo?
“Why haven’t you put a ring on his finger?”
The automated voice reverberates from Nagi’s phone. He lets it finish, staying silent as his chat instantly explodes.
Reo squirms like he can sense the sudden tension, angling his head to the side and into his pillow— away from Nagi’s chest. Instinctively, Nagi’s hand holds his chest a lot firmer, afraid that Reo will pull away completely.
More questions ring out. However, none of them feel worth answering. Not since Nagi’s mind was filled with pictures of Reo’s usually decorated hands, missing that obvious ring.
He’s thought about it before. Marrying Reo. Wouldn’t that be the ultimate claim?
Reo sighs softly as Nagi spreads his lips against his neck, kissing the skin there.
“It doesn’t matter, not right now.” People hear him mumble, even if it’s muffled by Reo’s neck. “Reo is still mine.”
Mine.
Amused, he watches the word roll through his chat on repeat, not pulling away from Reo as he answers the next question.
