Chapter Text
Jumper thought she had escaped Null for good she thought she could free the other and begin a new life, maybe with new spies…
leave it all behind.
But how wrong she was it had only been two days when Nether portals began to follow her moments.
When she felt unwelcome eyes on her, that's when she knew it was all useless.
Jamato would never let her escape that easily.
So instead of thinking she began to hope; hope Mapicc made it out, hope Spoke was somehow okay.
And when Null got to her again, broke her armor and locked her back up in a cell that was as cold as ever, she hoped she at least saved one person from Hull's grasp.
"I'm sorry Spoke…" she muttered to herself pressing her back against the cold prison wall.
Spoke wiped the drool from his mouth that had dampened Jamato's coat.
Blinking sleep from his eyes he noticed Jamato had yet to awaken, he grinned what to do to a sleeping Jamato?
Spike's tail happily swayed as he begun to stack various objects on top of Jamato from around the room.
Pens, books, pillows. Anything he could get his hands on was going to be stacked on Jamato till he eventually awoke.
Spoke couldn't help but giggle. giddy at this, wondrous prank.
He smirked placing a water bottle onto Jamato's forehead.
Jamato groaned blinking as he awoke to see a rather excited Spoke and a pile of various objects on himself.
"Spoke." He said in a rather disappointed tone.
Spoke was giggling now happy at his feat.
"Take these off immediately." Jamato demanded, Spoke did as he was told pushing the objects onto the floor much to Jamato's annoyance.
…
Lunch had came at the prison the guards allowing Jumper her little freedom, leading her down stairs to the cafeteria.
Players lined up begging for scraps nearly die with the portions they where given.
Jumper visibly winced at this knowing many of these players where innocent.
In her staring she noticed a silhouette that made her freeze where she sat gnawing at bread.
"Mapicc?"
Oh gods no why was here with her had he not been able to escape…?
Jumper got up from where she sat walking over to Mapicc as fast at she could grasping his shoulder once he reached him.
"Mapicc!" She almost yelled at him despite him being right in front of her face.
"Jumper? I thought you escaped?…" he was half Relieved to not be here alone and half upset jumper didn't make it out.
"They hunted me down." She spoke as if the memory alone haunted her.
She blinked deciding to change topic, "do you know where Spoke is?" She asked her voice as worried as ever despite their argument before she left.
Mapicc swallowed hard.
"We can't talk here…" he finally said beginning to walk away expecting Jumper to follow.
And she did.
Mapicc brought Jumper to the side near the cells, taking a deep breath before he began.
"Spoke is… " the words felt stuck in his throat was his fate worse then death?
"Is he dead?!" Jumper asked louder then she meant too her ears already pressing themselves against her head.
"No…" Mapicc paused "Jamato he-he drugged Spoke or something..! He can't remember me, he only trusts Jamato, it's.."
Jumper grit her teeth confusion clouded with worry.
"Mapicc, what? How, you have to explain." She pleaded clasping her hands together.
Mapicc took another breath already reliving the scene of seeing Spoke in his mind.
"Jamato dragged me out my cell and brought me to Spoke and he was in like a hospital bed… He didn't recognize me." Mapicc explained in more detail.
Jumper took a moment to take it all in, "are you sure he wasn't faking?"
"If he was it was pretty convincing act." He said his tone more upset now.
Jumper stayed silent taking it all in blinking tears from her eyes, why does this happen to me?
She silently questioned.
Jamato had made Spoke pick up all the objects he stacked on him while. He was sleep, but Spoke didn't dare do this without complaining.
"My stomach hurts!" He whined picking stuff off the floor and placing them back in their respective places.
"Should've of thought of the consequences." Jamato said sternly.
"Whatever…" Spoke mumbled carelessly putting things away already bored of the situation.
Spoke trapped finally. Putting the last of the objects away where Jamato decided he had done enough of a good job.
"Good job, now what do you wish to do, Spoke?" Jamato asked tilting his head curiosity already brimming at what Spoke would do now
"Can I get a high five?" He asked sheepishly, his tail swaying expectedly.
"No. You didn't do that good of a job." Jamato gave Spoke a blank stare only breaking it to blink.
Spoke frowned and made a sad 'aw' sound.
"Are there any fun places here?" Spoke asked with less enthusiasm then Jamato would've liked.
Jumper was now pacing around a cafeteria table where Mapicc sat watching her.
"I don't know what you expected me to do." He rested his head on his hand his elbow on the table.
"Hm, I don't know! Maybe not run away the moment something feels off..!" Jumper stood over the cafeteria table seats hands now on the table.
Mapicc shoot her a glare, "well maybe you wouldn't like too see your best friend in that state!" Mapicc argued back.
Jumper narrowed her eyes a frown flashing across her lips before her disappointed look appeared once more.
"You're right I wouldn't want to see my best friend in that state," she paused "but I wouldn't run, I'd help him."
A mix of guilt and annoyance crossed Mapicc's face.
"Whatever, it's too late now." He faced away from Jumper clearly biting back tears.
Jumper felt some what pity towards Mapicc but that didn't change the fact he messed up
"Do you think Jamato will bring you to see Spoke again?" Jumper changed the topic back to asking questions.
"I.. I'm not sure about me but he might bring you to Spoke…" Mapicc rubbed at his eyes with the heels of his hands.
Jumper noted this.
"I didn't see any easy to access exits when I was up-" Mapicc gestured up "-in the tubes."
Jumper say down at the cafeteria table referring her head on her hand.
A silence broke between the two of them before Jumper spoke up again.
"We should head back to our cells, in case Jamato does come." She finally decided coming to a stand as fast as she sat down.
Mapicc did a quick nod "right… " he mumbled.
He stood up soon after Jumper dragging his feet as he walked towards his cell.
"I think I know a place we can visit." Jamato gave a grin that could be sinister if seen from any angle other then where Spoke stood.
Spoke titled his head ever curious at what Jamato could lead him towards this time around, his ears flicking atop his head as he began to follow Jamato out of his office into the ever extending glass halls.
this walk seemed longer then any walk they had taken before leaving Spoke already out of breath despite not having walked for long at all.
"'Mato how far is this place?" Spoke complained bumping into Jamato with every step.
Jamato who was silently regretting ever hitting Spoke on the head from how clingy and energetic this void-ling acted despite the concussion.
"be patient." Jamato grumbled out his displeasure with Spoke's complaints becoming ever more prominent.
Spoke's makes a finally groan of complaint before staying quiet out of the kindness of his heart to his dear brother.
the two of them continued their walk in till they came to a lot of nether portals with wooden signs placed on each one presumably dictating where they go.
Jamato paused looking around for a moment to remember a specific portal, "here." he promptly spoke taking Spoke towards a portal practically dragging him before before Spoke could even think of reading the sign that told him where they where headed.
a purple hue soon consumed Jamato's vision a color he had began to know far too well in the last years.
once the purple faded once more Jamato led Spoke out from the portal to a forest biome with snow sprinkling down from the skies above.
"hm, why are we here?" Spoke immediately jumped to inquiries pressing up to Jamato's side the cold already bothering the void-ling.
Jamato paused for a moment allowing Spoke to press into his warmth (how kind), "I have something to show you."
he spoke as if elaborating would be the death of him.
Spoke made small protest with a grumble before following Jamato as he began to walk again.
the pine trees stretched far towards the snow weighing heavy on each branch, some more then others. the sky was painted with a thin haze of snow that soon landed on Spoke's head a harsh mix with his jet black hair.
the forest soon parted on its self making clear view of a cave that lay in the land ahead.
stepping into the cave it almost felt colder then the ever lengthening forest on the other side, "Jamato why did we come here, its so cold!" Spoke began to rub his triceps in attempt to warm up.
"for this." Jamato pulled Spoke further into the cave.
…
a body, of brunette man with parrot wings.
"holy shit! is he dead?" Spoke jumped back at the sight of the possibly dead man that lay before him and Jamato.
"no, unconscious, I'm pretty certain." Jamato put a hand on Spoke's shoulder to calm the void-ling, Spoke pressed behind Jamato as if hiding despite clearly having the upper hand over the man.
"tell me Spoke do you know who this is?" Jamato turned to Spoke with attentiveness and unwavering eye contact.
Spoke took another glance at the man who lay in-front of him pressed against wall as if aghast, the more Spoke observed the more he realized he wasn't dead, if anything asleep whether that choice was made in own will Spoke was uncertain.
"parrot, x2?" Spoke made his educated guess
results: "correct," Jamato paused as if choosing his next words carefully "he was the king, do you know that?"
Jamato stared at Spoke unblinking as if testing him to see if his ails where a fluke, like he couldn't believe in the joy that came with this impaired version of Spoke.
"like of a civilization?" the void-ling blinked at the odd question answering in the only way he deemed to fit the question.
Jamato gave Spoke a warm smile that almost didn't reach his eyes—that didn't matter anyway Spoke never looked anyone in the eyes, "something like that."
Jamato spoke with delight now his eyes shifting between Spoke and Parrot now.
"exiled from his own kingdom, what a horrible fate… Spoke what should we do with him?"
his eyes left Jamato now on the slow rise and fall of Parrots body.
Mapicc almost wished he could wander off from his cell into the lava that surrounded him, the gurgle and pop coming from said lava was irritating yet it was all he had to listen too.
the guards didn't speak to him, or maybe they didn't speak at all; whatever same thing to Mapicc.
you'd think after of being in a prison you'd at least learn the layout a bit more and try to escape but, it felt redundant to Mapicc he had tried it all before and always lost, what's the point in fighting it?
he has Jumper so that's one good thing.
Mapicc sat on the metal bed frame that creaked at any movement and a thin mattress that barely could qualify as such.
Mapicc ran his hands down his face a pitiful way of self expression, "Jumper was right…"
he spoke quiet enough that it would only sound like ramblings of an insane man to the guards that where stationed near by at all times.
"why did I just freeze, what do I even do?" he huffed bring his knees to his chest causing the bed to creak.
"and now I start talking to myself, great."
Mapicc bit his cheek thinking—silently, about what he could do what Spoke would do yet nothing came to mind the silent drip of lava from outside was all Mapicc could blame his lack of ideas on.
…
Jumper stared at a wall, expression blank wondering if she had been to harsh wondering if she too would've froze if someone she cared deeply about forgot everything to do with her.
but then again was Spoke even her friend, not now he had no memory of all she had done for him.
which means Jumper didn't owe Spoke anything, she could feel as angry as she wanted towards Spoke and his selfish choices that had killed so many.
and maybe Spoke had finally killed himself.
and Jumper was okay with that.
Mapicc pressed the heels of his hands in to his eyes colors dotting his vision despite his eyes not being open.
Mapicc felt guilty, like he could've done something to save Spoke but he didn't have the power to.
.
Spoke furrowed his brows, "I don't remember much about Parrot, so I guess I don't care about his fate." the void-ling admitted.
"alright, I'll keep that in mind." Jamato hummed before leading Spoke back out the cave towards the nether portal as if they had never seen Parrot's sleeping form in the first place, leaving it untouched.
