Europa's Paranormal Investigation Journal

Chapter 3: Lillard Mansion

Summary:

Europa researches the Lillards, has a date with a girl who is oddly relevant, dismisses the concerns of her best friend, and explores Lillard Mansion.

Notes:

This is going to be the final chapter, though I imagine I'll write about Europa again in the future.

Chapter Text

Entry 7:

Lillard Mansion is the last place I plan on checking out for now, supplies for this hobby are a tight point and I can only really continue if I have money. The Lillard Family was the richest family to ever live in Fall Creek, Jim Lillard was a founding settler of the town, and he made sure his family's name was on everything money could buy. It wasn't until 1902 that the next generation of Lillards dissappeared at the same time as Edgar Cane that the family's name was being removed from stuff, even in modern day there is still a few sites that bare the Lillard name.

If the Lillard Family was as close to Edgar Cane as all accounts say they were, then I have several theories about what I'm going to find in their family mansion. The things I find there better be worth the 30 minute bike ride on a gravel road. Grove (The ghost in my head, who I named after the landscape around the cabin they were found it) just told me something about the Lillards, Blaine, the son of Jim Lillard, was a known cynic about Christianity, occasionally he could be heard talking about some strange topics with his wife, Mary. The name Mary is ironic for someone rumored to dabble in the occult.

Entry 8:

I was at work 2 days ago, overlapping shift with my bestie, and this cute girl came into the cafe, so I called her cute as she came to the counter to order, she got all flustered and seeing the chance I had, I asked her out on a date. Normally I wouldn't write about this in the investigation journal, but turns out, when I asked her why she was visiting Fall Creek on our date the next day she said she was a descendant of the Lillard Family and wanted to learn more about the family here. Grove just pointed out that I should probably say her name, her name is Bri, the Lillard family line is on her mom's side of her family. Because of Bri's branch of the Lillard Family being mostly separated from the rest of them, she couldn't tell me much about them outside of her branch. Overall the date went well otherwise, and we have another date planned in a week, as she's gonna be in town for another week and a half.

Entry 8:

I told my bestie about this hobby and showed her the book. She was concerned, saying something like, "Europa, you realize what some of the rituals in the book require, right?" I reassured her by saying I won't do any of the violent rituals but that didn't seem to help, she's also apparently concerned about me putting myself in danger. I assured her I'm fine. She doesn't know about the ghost in my head though, she'll be freaked out if she knew.

Anyways back to the reason I am writing in here, I went to Lillard Mansion, all the doors were locked, but good thing I brought tools to lockpick, as I had anticipated the doors being locked. The inside of the mansion was so cool, it was fancy, as you might expect of the richest family ever to live in the town. There were also occult symbols everywhere, Grove noted traces of spirits and other paranormal entities everywhere.

Apperently a few ghosts tried to attack me, and I did get a scratch on my arm, but otherwise the presence of Grove in my body protected me from most of the harm the ghosts tried to do. Ghosts can't get too close to eachother I guess. I think in one room there was a demon? It offered me anything I could want but I just politely turned it down, I don't have anything I desperately crave and my transition is going fine. The rest of the room wasn't as interesting. I got a bunch of supplies for rituals in a storage closet on the second floor, next to a shrine room, I didn't recignize the figure that the shrine was devoted too, but I took an artifact from it so I could study it.

Lillard Mansion was a very fun place to explore, definitely worth the 30 minute bike ride on gravel paths and roads. Though now I need to research more places to explore, there's a few more places around town, then I need to start traveling for more places, though that can happen when I finally go to college.

Notes:

Europa is fun to write, she would stare down a demon and ask it was being a demon is like, she wouldn't even make a deal with it if it could further her along in her transition to perfectly match her goals, though she would certainly consider it.
