Chapter Text

A month slipped by in the Taebaek Valley like water flowing over smooth river stones—quiet, steady, and transformative.

What had initially felt like an unfamiliar sanctuary had gradually become home. The biting, bitter cold of deep winter began to soften around the edges, yielding to the subtle, early whispers of a mountain spring. The heavy snowdrifts along the treeline melted into sparkling, clear runoff that fed the rushing stream beneath the footbridge, and the dense pine canopy seemed to breathe with a fresh, vibrant green energy.

Over those four weeks, Jungkook and Jimin built a rhythm that was entirely their own, bathed in domestic peace and an intense, overwhelming romantic closeness.

Ever since that first night by the fireplace, a dam had broken between them. Releasing the trauma of Seoul had unlocked an almost insatiable hunger for one another—a desperate, sweet need to constantly be touching, kissing, and breathing each other in. Their married life, once weighed down by stress and exhaustion, had reignited into something fiercely passionate.

Mornings rarely started on time. They would wake up tangled in a knot of limbs under the thick duvet, Jungkook’s broad arms locked tight around Jimin’s waist, pulling him flush against his chest before Jimin could even fully open his eyes. Lazy morning kisses would quickly turn deep and lingering, their scents—rich amber and sun-warmed cotton—mixing in the cool bedroom air until the blankets were thrown back and quiet, breathless intimacy stole hours of their morning.

Even during the day, their hands were rarely apart. While cooking, Jungkook would constantly sneak up behind Jimin, wrapping his arms around his waist to kiss the sensitive crook of his neck, making Jimin giggle and lean back into his chest. Household chores became an exercise in fond distraction—Jungkook lifting Jimin up onto the kitchen counter just to devour his lips, or Jimin pulling Jungkook down by his sweater collar for a sudden, deep kiss while folding laundry.

Yet, alongside this fiery, desperate affection, they integrated seamlessly into a small, tight-knit family unit with their caretakers.

Almost every afternoon was spent together with Hoseok and Yoongi. Jungkook helped Hoseok reinforce the timber shed and clear fallen branches off the forest trails, while Jimin sat by the hearth in Yoongi’s cozy living room, carefully helping the elder Omega prepare soft cotton baby clothes and hand-knitted blankets for the arriving pup. They took long, leisurely walks through the valley, revisiting the Mirror of the Mountain Spirit and the Stone Labyrinth, their bond with Hoseok and Yoongi blossoming into a deep, elder-brotherly refuge.

When evening fell and they returned to their private cottage, the world outside ceased to exist. They would eat, share quiet conversation on the balcony, and retire upstairs where the fireplace would crackle to life once more—surrendering to the fierce, tender devotion of their nights.

For the first time in years, Jungkook’s dark eyes were completely clear, his heart anchored. And Jimin, held tightly in his husband's arms every night, knew they were whole again.

But today the warm, lazy peace of their morning was shattered by a frantic, heavy knocking at the front door.

Jungkook and Jimin were still in the kitchen, Jimin leaning against the counter while Jungkook had his arms wrapped loosely around his waist, sharing a quiet, sun-dappled kiss over their morning tea. At the sudden, desperate pounding, both of them froze.

Jungkook immediately moved to the foyer, Jimin trailing closely behind. The moment Jungkook pulled the heavy oak door open, Hoseok practically stumbled inside. His hair was disheveled, his coat unzipped against the crisp morning air, and his usual bright, warm posture was completely gone, replaced by sheer, pale panic.

"Jungkook-ssi—please," Hoseok gasped, catching his breath as he grabbed Jungkook’s forearm. "It’s Yoongi. He woke up dizzy, feverish, and he can barely sit up. I... I know you’re a surgeon, not a general practitioner, but please—there's no clinic nearby."

"Hoseok-hyung, breathe," Jungkook commanded smoothly, his tone instantly shifting into the calm, authoritative composure of a medical professional. "Grab my coat, Jimin. Let's go."

Jimin didn't hesitate, rushing to grab their heavy winter jackets. Within seconds, the three of them were sprinting down the forest path, crossing the wooden footbridge and heading straight toward Hoseok and Yoongi’s home.

Inside the master bedroom upstairs, Yoongi lay pale against the white pillows, his eyes half-closed and his breathing shallow. He looked small despite his rounder bump, clutching it protectively beneath the heavy duvet.

Jungkook immediately stepped up to the bed, sitting gently on the edge. His hands, usually so fierce and protective, were incredibly light and precise as he pressed his knuckles to Yoongi’s forehead, checking his skin temperature, then gently pressing two fingers against Yoongi’s wrist to measure his pulse.

"Yoongi-hyung," Jungkook spoke in a soft, reassuring low voice. "Can you open your eyes for me? Does anything hurt? Any sharp pain in your stomach?"

Yoongi blinked open his tired feline eyes, shaking his head very weakly. "No... no pain," he whispered, his voice raspy. "Just... so tired. Everything is spinning."

Jungkook checked the color under Yoongi's lower eyelids, gently felt the lymph nodes along his neck, and rested a hand lightly over the side of Yoongi's bump, feeling the steady, warm vitality beneath his palm.

After a long, quiet minute, the sharp tension in Jungkook’s shoulders visibly relaxed. He turned back to Hoseok, who was standing near the doorway, wringing his hands in silent agony.

"He doesn't have an infection, and the pup's heart rate felt completely stable," Jungkook announced clearly, his voice bringing an instant wave of relief into the room. "It’s pure physical exhaustion, Hyung. Now that he's six months along, his body is spending immense energy growing the pup, and the long walks over the past few days caught up with him. He just needs absolute rest."

Hoseok let out a ragged breath, running a shaking hand through his hair. "Thank God... thank God."

"I mean strict bed rest, Hoseok-hyung," Jungkook emphasized gently, looking down at Yoongi with genuine, elder-brotherly concern. "No walking the trails, no cooking, no household chores. He stays in bed until his fever breaks and his strength comes back entirely."

From behind Hoseok, Jimin stepped forward into the room, his sweet face full of determination.

"And he won't have to lift a single finger," Jimin declared softly, walking over to sit beside Yoongi on the bed. He reached out, gently smoothing Yoongi’s damp fringe away from his forehead. "Yoongi-hyung, you don't need to worry about a single thing. I’m taking over the kitchen and the house. I'll cook all the meals, keep the hearth burning, and handle the cleaning so Hoseok-hyung can stay right here by your side."

Yoongi looked up at Jimin, his pale cheeks flushing slightly with emotion. "Jimin-ah... you don't have to do that, it's too much work—"

"It's not up for debate, Hyung," Jimin said with a sweet but immovable smile, tucking the duvet snugly around Yoongi's shoulders. "We’re family. You take care of yourself and the baby. Let us take care of you."

Hoseok looked between Jungkook and Jimin, his heart overflowing. The lingering formal barriers that had existed when they first arrived on the mountain completely evaporated into nothingness.

"Thank you," Hoseok choked out, stepping over to squeeze Jungkook’s shoulder tightly before turning to smile warmly at Jimin. "I don't even know how to thank you both."

"You don't need to," Jungkook said smoothly, giving Hoseok’s arm a firm, supportive press. "That’s what family is for."

As Jimin headed downstairs to brew a soothing herbal tea and prep a nourishing meal, and Jungkook stayed to help Hoseok arrange Yoongi's medicine and hot compresses, the bond between the four of them locked permanently into place—no longer just neighbors sharing a valley, but an unshakable family anchored in love.

Over the next few days, the rhythms of both houses merged into one.

Jungkook and Jimin essentially moved into Hoseok and Yoongi’s home from morning until late night, only returning to their own cottage when it was time to sleep. While Hoseok and Jungkook spent the chilly spring afternoons outside—chopping timber, reinforcing the wooden footbridge, and prepping the mountain garden beds—Jimin completely took over the household. He kept the hearth roaring, swept the oak floors, and prepared steaming, fragrant soups that brought the color right back to Yoongi’s pale cheeks.

On a quiet afternoon, with the soft rustle of pine trees outside and the warm scent of simmering bone broth in the air, Jimin carried a fresh mug of warm honey-lemon tea upstairs.

Yoongi was sitting propped up against a mountain of pillows, looking much healthier, though still under strict orders to rest. As Jimin stepped into the room, he caught Yoongi in an unguarded moment. The elder Omega had both hands resting over his round, six-month bump, his fingers tracing small, subconscious circles over his fleece sweater. Yoongi’s face was soft, bathed in an expression of pure, unconditional tenderness that Jimin had never quite seen before.

Jimin froze in the doorway for a second, a strange, quiet flutter stirring in his chest.

"Here’s your tea, Hyung," Jimin said softly, stepping closer to hand him the mug before sitting down on the edge of the mattress.

"Thanks, Jimin-ah," Yoongi murmured, taking a sip with a gentle smile.

Jimin couldn't pull his eyes away from Yoongi’s hands, which had settled comfortably back over his bump. Curiosity, sweet and persistent, welled up inside him.

"Yoongi-hyung... what does it feel like?" Jimin asked quietly, his eyes bright with genuine wonder. "I mean... carrying a life inside you? Is it strange? Don't you ever feel scared or... physically overwhelmed?"

Yoongi let out a soft, fond chuckle, his gaze softening as he looked at Jimin. "It’s weird at first," Yoongi admitted, running a thumb gently across his swollen belly. "In the beginning, your body feels like it doesn't belong to you anymore. You’re nauseous, exhausted, and every scent makes you want to lock yourself in a room. But then..."

Yoongi paused, his expression growing deeply serene. "Then you feel that first tiny kick. It’s like a little flutter, right here. And suddenly, all the discomfort doesn't matter. You just feel this overwhelming urge to protect them with everything you have. You'll understand it when your time comes."

When your time comes.

The words hung softly in the quiet bedroom, sinking deep into Jimin’s chest. A sudden, sharp knot tightened in his stomach—a complex, tangled knot of yearning, unspoken fear, and a deep, aching tenderness. He thought of Jungkook—of his husband’s broad, protective hands, the fierce devotion in his dark eyes, and how incredible of a father he would be. But mixed with that beauty was the haunting shadow of their painful past in Seoul, making Jimin’s heart thump with a delicate, bittersweet uncertainty.

Jimin swallowed the lump in his throat, offering Yoongi a warm, bright smile to mask the sudden surge of emotion inside him. He didn't say a word about the knot in his chest.

Instead, Jimin shifted his posture slightly, asking softly, "How do you handle medical checkups out here in the mountains? Don't you need to see a doctor regularly?"

"Every month," Yoongi replied, setting his tea down on the bedside table. "Hoseok takes me to the city clinic down in the valley. Actually, it’s a good thing you asked—our next appointment is early next week. We’ll have to drive into town for the full scan."

"That's a relief," Jimin smiled, reaching out to pat Yoongi’s knee. "Jungkook is great with basic health checks, but seeing a proper OB-GYN and getting an ultrasound will give everyone peace of mind."

By late afternoon, the golden sun began to dip behind the jagged mountain peaks, casting long, warm shadows through the kitchen windows.

Leaving Yoongi to rest, Jimin went downstairs to start dinner. Soon enough, the heavy front door creaked open, and the cold mountain draft brought in the earthy, woodsy scents of Hoseok and Jungkook. The two Alphas walked in, dusting snow and pine needles off their thick coats, their cheeks flushed red from working outside all day.

"Smells incredible in here, Jimin-ah," Hoseok beamed, hanging his coat by the door and immediately heading upstairs to check on his mate.

Jungkook lingered behind in the kitchen, walking straight up to Jimin. Without a word, he wrapped his long, warm arms around Jimin’s waist from behind, resting his chin on Jimin’s shoulder as the younger Omega stirred a pot of hearty vegetable stew.

"Hard working day?" Jimin murmured sweetly, leaning his head back against Jungkook’s shoulder and turning to press a soft kiss against his Alpha's cold cheek.

"Mmm, cleared three fallen trees near the stream," Jungkook hummed, his arms tightening possessively around Jimin, his scent of rich amber enveloping Jimin like a warm blanket. "Missed you all day."

Jimin smiled, but as he rested his hand over Jungkook’s forearm wrapped tightly around his belly, Yoongi’s words echoed quietly in his mind—You'll understand it when your time comes.

Jimin leaned deeper into his husband's heat, holding onto Jungkook just a little tighter, keeping his silent thoughts tucked safely away for now as they prepared to share a warm, hearty dinner together as a family.

Over the next few days, Jimin’s dedication to taking care of Yoongi and running the household never wavered. Yet, beneath his bright, efficient demeanor, a quiet, irresistible pull began to take root in his mind.

He couldn't help but observe Yoongi. Whenever Jimin wiped down the dining table or set a bowl of hot soup on the nightstand, his eyes would drift back to the elder Omega. He watched the way Yoongi rested his palm over his six-month bump, the unconscious, rhythmic soothing motions, and the sheer, radiant calm that settled over his features whenever the baby kicked.

Jimin knew he was staring. He felt silly, almost foolish, but the instinct was far too powerful to ignore.

The yearning grew inside him, subtle at first, then deep and aching. On more than one occasion, while watching Yoongi softly murmur to his belly, Jimin found his own hand subconsciously rising to rest over his own flat stomach. His palm would press against the fabric of his sweater, his fingers tracing imaginary curves as if a tiny, precious warmth were already resting beneath his skin.

The second he realized what he was doing, a rush of burning embarrassment would flood his cheeks, and he would quickly pull his hand away, tucking it into his pockets before anyone noticed.

He loved his life with Jungkook. They were completely, madly happy. His Alpha was so deeply devoted to him that he could barely stand to be apart for a few hours, devouring Jimin with desperate, breathtaking intimacy every single night. Their physical and emotional bond was at its absolute peak. Yet, the Omega deep within Jimin whispers that he wanted more—he wanted the ultimate fruit of that intense, sacred devotion.

Late at night, while lying awake in the dark with Jungkook’s broad arm locked possessively around his waist and his face buried in the crook of his Alpha's neck, Jimin’s thoughts would wander.

What about my career? What about Jungkook’s medical career?

In Seoul, those questions had felt like insurmountable mountains. But out here, surrounded by ancient pines and absolute peace, Jimin’s perspective had shifted entirely. He realized he didn't care about starting his career immediately—it wasn't as if he would die without it right now. He could easily pursue his goals in a few years. His priorities had completely rewritten themselves: he wanted a home. He wanted a family with Jungkook.

Besides, seeing Jungkook thrive over the past month—his dark eyes clear, his hands steady, his soul completely restored—gave Jimin absolute faith. When they eventually returned to the city, Jungkook would resolve his medical scandal and stand tall once again. But right now, Jimin’s heart was firmly set on the future they could build together.

The day of Yoongi’s monthly checkup arrived with a clear, crisp dawn.

Jimin was up early, his mood light as he whipped up a hot, hearty breakfast for all four of them. The kitchen filled with the delicious aroma of toasted grain, sizzling egg dishes, and fresh coffee. They ate together in warm spirits, laughter floating through the sunlit dining space.

After breakfast, Hoseok carried Yoongi’s heavy medical files down to the truck, while Yoongi double-checked the written list Jimin had carefully prepared—a detailed restock of groceries, baking supplies, and household essentials, since neither Jimin nor Jungkook had set foot in the city for over a month.

At the front gate, Jimin wrapped Yoongi in a big, gentle hug, mindful of his six-month bump, while Jungkook gave Hoseok a warm, supportive clap on the shoulder.

"Drive safely, Hyung," Jungkook said, his voice grounded and steady. "Don't rush on the mountain roads."

"Take good care of the baby," Jimin added sweetly to Yoongi, giving his hands a affectionate squeeze. "We’ll have hot tea and dinner waiting when you get back tonight!"

"We will," Hoseok smiled warmly, holding Yoongi's hand as they climbed into the vehicle. "Thank you both so much for everything. See you this evening!"

With a cheerful wave and a honk of the horn, the truck slowly rolled down the winding gravel drive, disappearing into the mist of the lower mountain roads.

Jimin and Jungkook stood side by side, watching until the sound of the engine faded into the quiet hum of the forest. Turning to one another, Jungkook wrapped an arm around Jimin’s waist, pulling him close against his side as they began the quiet walk back up the footbridge toward their own cottage—left alone together for the first time in days.

The heavy wooden door of their cottage clicked shut behind them, sealing out the crisp mountain chill.

"I'm going to take a proper shower," Jungkook murmured, untying his scarf and hanging it by the entrance. He offered Jimin a quiet, tired smile. "We had to wake up so early to eat with Hoseok-hyung and Yoongi-hyung that I barely washed up. I feel completely gross."

"Go ahead," Jimin smiled softly. "I'll be right here."

As the bathroom door closed and the distant hum of running water echoed through the quiet house, Jimin was left entirely alone with his thoughts once more.

He walked up the stairs into their sunlit bedroom, sitting down on the edge of the mattress. His chest felt heavy, aching with a sweet, unbearable pressure. The yearning that had been quietly coiling inside him over the past few weeks was no longer a subtle whisper—it was a roaring fire. He pressed his palms against his face, his cheeks burning hot.

What is wrong with me? he thought, his heart hammering against his ribs. When did I become so shameless?

He had never been like this—so desperately consumed by an instinctual craving, so intensely fixated on the thought of carrying his Alpha’s life inside him. It felt almost reckless, almost crazy, but the Omega deep within his soul was screaming for it. He didn't just want Jungkook’s passion anymore; he wanted to be filled, marked, and anchored to him forever.

While he was caught in the middle of this internal turmoil, the bedroom door creaked open.

Jungkook stepped into the bedroom, completely unannounced, and Jimin’s train of thought crashed to a sudden, violent halt.

The Alpha was completely bare from the waist up, a low-slung towel wrapped loosely around his hips. Beaded droplets of water glistened on his broad, sculpted shoulders, running a slow, agonizing path down the dip of his spine and over the rigid contours of his abs. His dark hair was damp, clinging to his forehead, and his skin radiated a fresh, pine-scented heat.

Jimin swallowed hard, his throat going completely bone-dry. He was utterly speechless, his dark eyes wide and fixed on his husband. A sudden, sharp tug pulled at the very lowest part of his belly—a deep, visceral thrill that made his toes curl into the rug.

When did I get so lucky? Jimin thought, his mind racing. How is this magnificent Alpha mine?

Jungkook caught Jimin’s spellbound gaze and let out a low, amused chuckle. "Like what you see, baby?" he teased softly, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he walked toward the bed. "Your mouth is open, Jimin-ah."

But Jimin didn't laugh. He didn't even blink. He couldn't hear the teasing tone in Jungkook’s voice through the sheer volume of his own thumping pulse.

Instead, driven by a sudden, fierce wave of courage he had never felt before, Jimin stood up from the bed. He stepped straight into Jungkook’s personal space, looking up into his Alpha's dark, startled eyes.

"I want you,Alpha" Jimin whispered, his voice trembling slightly, but entirely firm. "Now, Please."

Jungkook froze, his smirk instantly evaporating into sheer, wide-eyed shock. In all the years they had been together, Jimin had never once been the one to demand intimacy so directly, so boldly.

"J-Jimin?" Jungkook stammered, his pulse spiking as he looked down at his husband.

Before Jungkook could process it, Jimin reached out, his small hands resting flat against Jungkook’s damp, warm chest, gently pushing him backward until the Alpha sat on the edge of the bed. Without a second thought, Jimin climbed onto his lap, straddling Jungkook’s thighs, his fingers entangling tightly in the wet strands at the nape of Jungkook’s neck.

Jungkook’s hands instinctively came up to brace Jimin’s waist, his dark eyes searching Jimin’s flushed face in utter disbelief. "Jimin-ah... wait," Jungkook rasped, his voice thick as he tried to keep his composure. "Remember... the box of protection I had Hoseok-hyung buy for us last time? We used the last one this morning. I literally just put it on the grocery list for him to buy from the city today."

Jungkook leaned forward, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Jimin’s jaw, his breath hot against his skin. "We have to... satisfy you in other ways today, baby. I don't have anything left."

Jimin tilted his head back, letting out a soft, shuddering breath, but he didn't pull away. He looked directly into Jungkook’s eyes, his expression completely unmasked, raw with an intense, burning devotion.

"And what if I don't want to be satisfied like that today?" Jimin asked softly, making Jungkook’s breath hitch in his throat.

"Jimin..." Jungkook swallowed hard, his hands tightening around Jimin's hips. "What are you saying?"

"What if I want to get pregnant?" Jimin confessed, the words finally tumbling out into the warm bedroom air, explicit and undeniable.

Jungkook’s mouth fell slightly open, his mind momentarily going entirely blank. "You... what?"

"I want a family with you, Jungkook," Jimin whispered, his eyes glistening with unshed, emotional tears as he cupped Jungkook’s flushed cheek. "I’ve thought about everything. About my career, about your job, about Seoul... but none of that matters right now. I can pursue my career later. I don't care about waiting. My priority is here. It's us. I want your baby, Alpha. I want to build a family with you."

Jungkook stared up at the Omega sitting straddled on his lap, his heart hammering wildly against his ribs.

Truthfully, Jungkook had never planned for any of this. Back in Seoul, buried under the clinical precision of his surgical career and the chaotic noise of his life, he had never mapped out a timeline for children. Just like marriage—something he had never actively chased or envisioned until Jimin entered his life and made it the most natural choice in the world—a family had always been a distant, abstract concept. It wasn't that he disliked kids; he simply had never stopped to imagine himself as a father. His mind had been too consumed by duty, performance, and later, the heavy weight of the scandal.

But looking up at Jimin now—at the fierce, tender devotion burning in his dark eyes, at the flush of pink on his cheeks, and the absolute trust in his soft expression—a sudden, overwhelming warmth bloomed in the center of Jungkook's chest.

Just like marriage, the thought of having a baby didn't feel terrifying or complicated anymore. Because it was Jimin. With Jimin, every unplanned path felt whole. Every missing piece of his life fell effortlessly into place.

"Jimin-ah..." Jungkook’s voice dropped to a low, rough rumble, his hands tightening around Jimin's hips as a profound, protective warmth washed over him. "You know... I never thought about any of this before. Not marriage, not children... none of it was in my head."

He swallowed hard, bringing one hand up to cup the back of Jimin’s neck, pulling him down until their foreheads rested together, their breaths mingling in the quiet room.

"But with you... it just feels right. Everything with you feels so good, baby," Jungkook murmured softly, his dark eyes blazing with an overwhelming, desperate affection. "If it's with you... I want it all."

Jimin let out a small, breathless sob of pure happiness, leaning in to press his lips firmly against Jungkook’s in a deep, possessing kiss that tasted of absolute surrender.

"Are you completely sure, Jimin-ah?" Jungkook rasped against his lips, his voice thick with unbridled desire. "Because if you say yes... I'm not going to hold back."

"I'm sure," Jimin whispered against his mouth. "Give me a family, Jungkook."

The last thread of Jungkook’s restraint snapped.

With a low, gut-wrenching growl, the Alpha gripped Jimin’s waist tight, flipping their positions in one fluid motion until Jimin was pressed flush against the soft mattress beneath him, completely consumed by the fierce, unrestrained devotion of his husband.
