"Not us." Namjoon pipes up. "Jiminie did all of it."
Jungkook's eyes find his and suddenly Jimin can't help but think this was a bad idea. "It's probably not that great." He tries to smile. "I don't think I put enough sugar-"
"You did this?" Jungkook's voice is a whisper.
"Yeah? Don't get mad. I-"
But Jungkook is already picking him up and swinging him around. Jimin presses his face against the crook of Jungkook's neck and for once, everything makes sense. "Happy Birthday." He mumbles into his ear.

It takes Jimin two hours and ten minutes to bake a cake for Jungkook's birthday.

Can I sleep in your bed tonight?" Jungkook asks.
Jimin shakes his head. "I have a horrible sleeping schedule. I don't want to mess yours."
"I don't mind."
Jimin considers, maybe it won't be so bad after all.
"Okay." He nods and Jungkook puts his pillow on Jimin's bed. In the darkness Jimin can see the outline of Jungkook's face and he has to fight the urge to shift closer, to brush his hair away from his face.

Head tilted to the side and legs wavering as if she were on a swing, she never looked at Jimin. Not once. Despite the strong mid-March wind, her hair wasn’t moving an inch away from her back.
She kept her head low, staring down to where Jimin couldn't look. The inky sea that called his name so nicely that night._
Jimin has been able to see ghosts all his life, and for what? He's never found a way to communicate with them. What's even the point in having to constantly struggle with the mere existence of something others can't see? He pushes through his every day with the constant fear of letting people in, dodging affection for the sake of his mind until he meets a pair of eyes, the ones he can't help but fall into.

The rest of the days Jungkook remembers like a blur, mornings of diligent study and afternoons of relentless workouts. There was obviously lots of fighting too, but never anything too serious to cause a real rift between the younglings. Looking back on it, he can’t even really remember what it was they fought about.
That first day is the only one he can recall very distinctively. The pale purple door, the agency lady’s tight grip on his forearm. The shoes that were too tight, the blouse that was too big. The yellow hallway, the doors to their bedrooms painted in different colours. The taste of Yoongi’s food. The sound of Hoseok’s bubbly laugh. All of it was etched on the walls of his brain, the rest just a jumbled mess of what could be considered his formative years at the Academy.
Well, everything up until that one day.
The day Park Jimin arrived.
And everything that followed, he can’t seem to forget.
[After vanishing for two years, Jimin is caught on camera commiting a crime Jungkook can't quite believe his former schoolmate is capable of doing. He decides he needs to find Jimin himself, before the people the boy's been running from do.]
