Before Cassie and Dean shared their first kiss, she had joked about it. They were sharing a cigarette on the hood of the Impala during a night just like this one, and she told him about how on TV they would often make people share a cigarette to showcase mutual sexual attraction. It was symbolism for a kiss or something. It made sense: both characters' lips had touched the filter and wet it to smoke it. They were indirectly sharing saliva and their entire microbiome."
When Jack doesn't answer their prayers, the brothers rescue Castiel from the Empty. After he wakes up from a six-month coma, the trio reflects on their new purpose in a world that doesn't need them every day.
