I reach out a gloved hand, brushing the creature's neck. The thick flesh is surprisingly warm, radiating a heat that defies the cool forest breeze. My attention snaps to my queue as the connection flares brightly, overwhelming my senses. I feel a headache begin to form. The creature lets out a low, vibrating purr that I feel more in my chest than I hear with my ears. Strangely comforting. Joy floods me so suddenly it hurts.

Donatello woke up on Monday, had an average day. Nothing special, really. He skipped breakfast, worked in the lab until lunch then went back to the lab until nightfall and left the lair with his brothers.
They fought those two crab brothers and it was all going fine. Until it wasn’t. A well-aimed crab claw that no one saw in time was all it took and there was blood everywhere and Donnie had felt like he was dying even though he wasn’t. Raph was.
He’d pressed his hands against the wound and there was nothing anyone could do and he’d reached for something, anything.
He’d managed to grasp something and—Donatello woke up on Monday. Again.

Aayla is jealous and angry, struggling with her emotions more than ever, but at least she has Sidious to talk to.
