It's been 3 years since his parents and grandpa were taken after Trollstice. JD, now 16 years old, has been dealing with a Troll that hurts him, taking care of his siblings, a grandma who can't walk well, and with the BroZone band. At the last BroZone concert, he messed up, sending him into a spiral.
After that concert, he decides to leave, not because of the fight but because he's scared. After saying goodbye to Branch, he left for the Neverglades. Still on his way to the mountain trail, he found 2 wounded and unique trolls, younger than him, who will make JD understand that running away would not solve anything.
After helping them get better, he decides to go back to the tree with his brothers and grandma and tell them the truth.
The 2 younger trolls convince him to let them go along, even after JD explaining the danger. JD comes back home a month after leaving, with the 2 trolls, only to find out his brothers left, leaving Branch with their grandma. The presence of the 2 new trolls in the family will change things in their lives.
JD's adventure and new meetings await for him along the way. -

"It was so pointed, Trinity, you would have thought she was trying to kill me with her eyes, and I'm sitting there thinking, first of all, he gets it from both of us, she's a lawyer for Christ's sake—" She stops. Utterly stalls, mid-sentence and mid-motion, the rolled spinach half under the knife on the board. The hand not holding the knife gives a faint, irregular jerk at her side, fingertips twitching against the grain of the wooden cutting board. For a single disorienting second Trinity thinks Baran has simply lost her train of thought.
It takes Trinity a beat too long, something she'll kick herself for later, to understand what she's seeing. "Babe?"
