Look, I had this idea of writing a short story somewhere in the stone age (ambiguous whether paleolithic or neolithic) and so I did.
But I am still a massive fantasy nerd so of course it's still elves and orcs in my stone age fantasy. Take it or leave it.So a tribe of elves gets displaced (I guess there is a weird but specific pattern in my writing) and flees north into the desert.
Originally I wanted to write a bit of a romance subplot into this, but with a short story there isn't really space for any subplot; either it's plot or it isn't there. But I guess you can read a future relationship into those interactions, if you want. (if they ever manage to overcome their language barrier)- Language:

1. The way Qin stops mid-laugh, his eyes dropping to Marvis’ exposed throat for just a second too long before he looks away and swallows, an expression on his face Duang knows far too well.
2. The way Jamie, when Duang turns to him, is watching Qin, having clearly noticed the reaction too, with a small, knowing smirk.
3. The way Marvis, who’s always composed, elegant, effortlessly in control of every room he steps into, is somehow this undone by Qin’s humor.
