Hallótta Haddock had something of an odd reputation, so to speak. As their Chief’s only child, she is his heir – in theory. Having been born early, sickly and female, there have been whispers of doing away with tradition and passing over the title to her bigger, stronger, very male cousin Snotlout whenever her father passes – despite the boy having both the temperament and brain of a goat. It certainly didn’t help that the years of increasing duty and Hallótta’s less-than-stellar attempts of making herself useful have strained her and her father’s once close relationship.
And if all that wasn’t enough – there was also that dragon problem they couldn’t seem to shake…

Hiccup was just that. A hiccup. No matter how hard he tried and fought he just couldn’t be who his father wanted. Who the village wanted. He couldn’t fight dragons, he couldn’t even fight off other kids his age. So when he shot down that dragon he had hoped that maybe he could do something right. Something to make his dad proud. The village proud. But, as always there was a hiccup in his plan. That hiccup just so happens to be a 26 foot long, 2,000 pound, Night Fury. No matter how hard he willed his hand to slice the dragon he just couldn’t. Not when his eyes had shown more understanding than his entire village. Now, Hiccup has a reason to leave Berk. A reason to make new someplace safer for him and toothless both. They deal with the Red Death quickly, using Gobbers forge to melt together a halfway decent leg, and finally finding a home with a new, safe, nest. He just didn’t expect to catch the attention of some dragon hunters who seem dead set on adopting him into their tribe. Hiccup just wants his family safe.

What if How to Train Your Dragon took place in the world of Wings of Fire?
Hiccup Haddock lives in the Indestructible City with his father, the Chief of Defense, Stoick the vast.
Desperate to prove himself, Hiccup attempts one of the most impressive (and dangerous) of feats: Killing a dragon.
But when he looks into the eye of the dragon he shot down, he finds himself wondering if he can truly go through with killing a dragon.Sharpteeth is a runaway from the NightWing's volcanic island. After being shot down (and spared) by a scavenger, he finds himself stuck in a cove, with seemingly no way out, and a strange little creature bothering him every now and then.
As the pair begin to bond with each other, they slowly being to realize that their worlds are bigger than they thought, and perhaps humans and dragons aren't so different from each other after all.
I will be mostly following the movie's plot at the beginning, with changes to fit the story into Wings of Fire. Eventually it'll split off from the movie's plot and become it's own thing. I have some fun ideas for the future.

When Berk is attacked by dragons on an early morning, Hiccup attempts to shoot down what looks to be a Night Fury who was attacking alongside the raid, but while he did shoot it down and saw it go down to the forest, when he goes to find it, instead, he finds a Light Fury. And with his own decision, Hiccup let's the dragon go despite the chance he had after all the neglect he's felt his whole life. But when he finds her again near a grove, without a tailfin and in need of help, Hiccup decides to help it, and from there, they grow a bond unlike any other dragon and human has ever had before.
