Geralt tipped his head and looked to the door. Jaskier followed his gaze, heart pounding in his chest.
The world seemed to hold its breath for a moment, every small sound suddenly thundering in the silence - the steady drum of rain on the roof, the stomp of boots on the porch, the indistinguishable mutter of voices, and, finally, the creak of rusty hinges as the door opened.
Two hooded figures froze in the entryway.
Jaskier's breath caught.
His own face gaped back at him.
