Love Looks Pretty On You

Summary:

"I won't let anything happen. I promise, Kacchan, I'll protect everyone from you and you from everyone,” He murmurs, squeezing Katsuki's shoulders in assurance.

Katsuki wants to say he doesn't trust Izuku's words because he really shouldn't. This is some random alpha he only just met today. But something deep inside him compels him to believe that Izuku can keep that promise.

Or omega Katsuki Bakugou had a rough past relationship with his last alpha and was sent to an omega shelter for rehabilitation. There, he meets an alpha who is unlike any other alpha he has ever met before. Izuku Midoriya.

Chapter Text

Omega shelter. A place that omegas went to when they became very inconvenient to take care of. Either they were abused in past relationships. Or had a disability. Or were just generally considered broken.

Katsuki Bakugou is an omega. But he never thought he'd find himself here. Unlike other omegas, he's prideful of who he is. He stands as tall as possible. He is always smirking. Or, at least he was before. That's who he was before. The person he used to be. His self proclaimed identity. And one of the only things pulling him back to reality right now.

Because it's hard to be content with who you are when everyone looks at you now and all they see is a victim of an abusive alpha. Because that's who Katsuki is now. According to his files. And maybe they're right. Because Katsuki sometimes still sees pictures in his head. Memories that shouldn't feel like they belong to him because how could he have let that stuff happen to him? Yet they're undeniably his own. Even if it's been a little over a year now since he got away from that terrible alpha, his nerves still spike like crazy whenever he sees an alpha who looks angry or menacing. It's only more statement to the trauma he was given that made him have to come to this place.

A place where all the broken omegas stayed and waited until some alpha came in with a license to care for them. Until they caught an alpha's eyes because they looked pitiful enough. Katsuki hated the thought of that so much. He already felt so ashamed because of the fact of having to be here. Of being one of those omegas that his parents warned him never to become.

But it was kind of their fault in a way. They're rich and have expectations and “friendships” to keep up with. So when one of their acquaintances came to them and asked to pay to have Katsuki they said yes without hesitation. And Katsuki was treated like he wasn't a person with an amazing quirk and a dream of being a hero someday. Katsuki thought his parents had more respect for him. Although he also thought his parents would come to his aid when he called them to ask for help, but they never did. Luckily he had enough sense to call the police at that same time. It was one of the only times he had access to a phone while living with that alpha and he needed to get himself out of that hell.

It's hard for Katsuki to look back and think about what happened to him. How that alpha never left a mating mark. How he always would hit Katsuki. Hit him during sex so that Katsuki's brain formed the feeling of pleasure and pain into one and couldn't tell the difference. He did that so much that Katsuki's body had no choice but to learn to get excited when he was slapped around. How he never helped Katsuki through his heats and only used the blonde as a hole to fuck when he was in rut. And how Katsuki would sometimes go a couple days without eating because the alpha purposely only bought enough for Katsuki to cook only a meal for him. Katsuki even had to sneak and drink water while the alpha was away at work all the time. And unfortunately all of that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Sure, Katsuki hates being in an omega shelter. He hates what it means about him. But despite that, he's also grateful that he's here. Because his pride was long since thrown away by that alpha and being here is helping build it back up again.

The only thing he's scared about is some alpha with an annoying complex of wanting to help some sorrowful omega coming in and deciding they want to take Katsuki home. Katsuki is no longer some helpless pup. He let himself slip in the hands of that stupid alpha and he'll never let that happen again. He's not interested in love, nor an alpha who's taking him on as some charity project. He'll get himself out of here all on his own and then he'll spend the rest of his life alone with only his thoughts to accompany him. He can't allow himself to trust another alpha…not after everything that's happened to him.

A rapture of knocks at the door pulls Katsuki out of his mind. His eyes dart around his lit room in a bit of a daze. Mostly everyone gets their own room, ones just as big as a small dorm room. Unless you have siblings in which you share a room that's larger than all the others. Katsuki likes to keep his room pretty bright. His old alpha used to keep the house really dark so that he could pounce on Katsuki when the blonde couldn't even see him or get away. Katsuki doesn't like the dark anymore.

Looking over at the clock on his bedside desk tells him that it's not one of the specific times that they are all fed. So why is someone knocking on his door?

“Bakugou! You have to come out, there's an alpha coming in.” An omega whose voice Katsuki doesn't care to recognize nor remember says on the other side of the door.

“Leave me alone! I don't want an alpha looking me up like I'm some stupid piece of meat.” Katsuki shouts back, pulling his covers high over his face and not caring if it messes up his hair.

“You know that's not allowed. The caretakers will come in and coax you out…or take you out by force!” By the way that this omega says the last part it's evident that he had never actually had to be taken out by force. That force wasn't as forceful as he makes it sound. The most that the caretakers are able to do is take your hands and try dragging you out. If you refuse even then, then they have no choice but to leave you alone.

Katsuki doesn't want people coming into his room today, though. So he'll go out there and stand in a corner and ignore the stupid alpha until it takes an omega and leaves.

“Fine. I'm coming.” Katsuki grumbles, throwing his blankets off of him and standing slowly from his bed. His eyes slide over to the scent patches on his desk but he decides he's too lazy to actually put them on right now.

He walks to the door and opens it hard enough to make it slam into the wall and make the omega right outside it flinch a little.

“Hey, Bakugou!” The omega waves, smile stretched across his face in an annoying way. Katsuki doesn't want to admit that he's memorized any of the omegas here but the ones that have been around longer are a bit more ingrained in his mind.

This particular omega arrived at the shelter just a couple days after Katsuki was first put here. He has stupid yellow-blonde hair with a black thunderbolt streak on the left side. And this aura around him that just screamed far too energetic. And he smells like electrified ozone and sweet peas.

Katsuki has no idea what his quirk is. Quirks aren't allowed to be used here. They all have to wear quirk nullifying bracelets on their right wrist to protect the caretakers from any rogue use of power. Katsuki understands why, of course. But he hates it. He wants to use his quirk again so bad. But by now he's afraid he's lost all of the skills he has with his quirk.

“Stop smiling like an idiot, Dunce Face.” Katsuki bites out at the shorter omega. Katsuki doesn't remember people's names but a couple lucky few stick around him enough to earn a nickname. This here is Dunce Face.

“Come on already! We're going to miss our chance of being picked if we take too long,” he points out, grabbing one of Katsuki's wrists and pulling him along. Katsuki's eyes narrow at the back of the other omega's head, his brain wracking to find a reason as to why this random omega would ever risk not being picked by an alpha and come here instead to retrieve Katsuki of all people. Why did he care about Katsuki?

The omega leads them into the center area of the place, where all the omegas usually race to when an alpha is scouting out one to take home with them.

Not just any alpha could come in here and take an omega. They had to go through a bit of training first and take a test to prove that they are actually capable of helping an omega like the ones found in here.

Katsuki tries to immediately flee to the corner but Dunce Face doesn't let him get too far with that plan.

“Nuh uh, you don't!” He snickers, pulling Katsuki over to a table with a chess board set up on it on the far side of the room. It's technically still pretty distant from the place where the alphas come in but it's not as far as Katsuki would like to be.

Dunce Face sits down on one side and eyes the other seat, nodding towards it and beckoning Katsuki to sit across from him.

Katsuki rolls his crimson eyes at the inconvenience but plops down in the leather seat nonetheless, crossing his arms over his chest immediately as he glares over at the entrance, waiting for an alpha to walk through.

It doesn't take long. All the voices get a little louder. Everyone's scents getting more potent and mixing all together into a smell that makes Katsuki want to barf out his insides. He hates how desperate they all smell. How quickly they all are to please an alpha they barely know. Only other omegas that were treated like Katsuki were in the past rear back from the door and stay on the outskirts of the room, timid and still undecided if they will ever trust another alpha. Katsuki knows he'll never trust anyone ever again so he wouldn't blame them if they all decide that at some point as well.

Katsuki takes his eyes off the door now and gazes aimlessly at the wall's chipping paint. It's boring but he doesn't care.

“Ooo! Look, Bakugou, isn't that guy with the purple hair so hot?” Dunce Face swoons across from him. Katsuki growls under his breath.

“Omg! Omg! They're coming over here!” He yips, practically jumping up and down in his seat.

Katsuki is a bit confused now. They? Coming over?

He finally turns his head, his eyes following where Dunce Face is looking until suddenly…all Katsuki sees is green. Green like an untamed rainforest. Green like a meadow dusted by a setting sun. Green like lily pads scattered over an algae filled lake. Green like the thick brush of a mountain side. Green like the alpha strutting this way.

If Katsuki had any doubt about the alpha coming to him then it all but dissipates when the alpha stops right in front of the chess table.

Dunce Face is the first one to speak and break the silence, “Uh, hey! My name is Denki Kaminari,” he tells them.

Katsuki vaguely remembers a time when Dunce Face was first telling him his name. It was a forgettable name, okay?!

“Hello, Kaminari. My name is Hitoshi Shinsou, and this is my friend Izuku Midoriya.” The purple haired alpha states.

Technically, the alphas don't even have to say their names since they're written down on a name tag sticker on their shirts. Katsuki reads over the green haired alpha's name tag and chuckles.

“Who names their pup Izuku? The Kanji makes it look like Deku.” He snickers, smirking as he meets deep viridian eyes.

The green haired alpha frowns a little, scratching an awkward hand behind his neck, “People make that mistake a lot.” Is all he says.

Katsuki doesn't even know if what he said was an attempt at playful banter, but what he does know is that Deku didn't match his energy and now he feels a bit deflated.

Katsuki sits back in his seat, huffing quietly.

“Don't mind the sourpuss. He gives everyone nicknames. I'm convinced he doesn't even remember my real name.” Dunce Face explains to the two alphas.

“Of course I know your name! You just said it, I'm not demented!” Katsuki hisses at him, baring his teeth a little.

“And what is your name?” Deku asks the blonde in a soft voice.

Katsuki wants to rip the alpha's lips right off his face. He doesn't want any stupid alpha speaking that sweetly to him. It's fake anyways. And, again, Katsuki refuses to be some stupid charity case.

“None of your business.” He says through gritted teeth.

“He's also a lot nicer than this, I promise. He just has a tough time trusting people. His name is Katsuki Bakugou.” Dunce Face fills in for them.

Katsuki doesn't miss the way the purple haired alpha is side eyeing him, his pupils in thin slits as if unhappy. Katsuki finds himself thinking of his old alpha. He often got angry at Katsuki and half of the time the blonde never even knew why. He just had to take the punishment for it every time without complaining.

“What?” Katsuki snaps at him, his bottom lip jutting out in irritation. His eyes, no matter how much he wants to deny it, threaten to water at the remembrance of his old alpha.

“Where are your patches? Your scent is overbearing.” he replies, his nose scrunching up in an unpleasant way.

“I didn't feel like putting them on. And omegas have the right to decide whether they want to wear them or not.” Katsuki points out, crossing his arms even tighter over his chest defensively.

“I like your scent.” Deku says simply, biting his lip and locking eyes with the blonde omega.

Katsuki has always been proud of how he smells. He doesn't smell like just your average omega. He doesn't have some sweet flowery scent or overpowering sugar. His scent isn't mellow or calm, but rather strong and forceful. It used to smell even better, to the point he could confuse people into thinking he was an alpha sometimes. But ever since the abuse he endured it has grown weaker. At least he still smells distinctively of his trademark campfire.

Katsuki rolls his crimson eyes hard, looking at anything but the green alpha as he tries to ignore him.

He ends up looking at Dunce Face instead. The yellow haired buffoon is giving him an imploring look, nodding slightly towards the alphas as if to say to be nicer.

Katsuki sighs and glances back over at the two alphas, “I don't want or need an alpha, so talking to me is a lost cause. But I'm sure Dunce Face would love to keep talking to you two.” He tells them before standing abruptly.

“Wait—” Deku tries saying but Katsuki interrupts him before he can get any other words out.

“I'm not taking the risk of letting another alpha come into my life again.” He growls, and it comes out a lot more vulnerable than he wanted it to but he doesn't even care anymore.

Katsuki leaves them behind now, heading to his room without even looking back. He doesn't care. At least, that's what he tells himself.

Izuku feels completely helpless as he watches the omega of his dreams strut away into a dimly lit hallway.

“Where's he going?” Izuku asks, feeling a bit desperate at this moment but not even caring how it makes him look.

“To his bedroom most likely. I always have to drag him out here. He, uh, had a bad experience with his last alpha.” Kaminari tells them, wincing a bit as he says it.

“Bad experience?” Izuku asks, being way too naturally curious for his own good.

“I'm sure there are files on all of us, right? Just ask for his file. I don't know too much of the details since he doesn't like to talk about it.” Kaminari suggests, giving them a sad looking smile. It's obvious that Kaminari cares for Bakugou without even really knowing if the blonde feels any attachment for him. Blind loyalty and empathy. Kaminari is a very good soul.

“Yeah. I guess I'll just ask the receptionist lady for it.” Izuku whispers, wiping his sweaty palms off on the sides of his pants.

Really, Izuku shouldn't be acting like this much of a bumbling idiot. He's a hero, for crying out loud! And he's worked hard to make One For All his very own quirk. He should take pride in all that he has achieved. Yet, in front of Bakugou he felt like puddy. Like he didn't deserve to be this bigger than life alpha because he could feel deep within his bones that that omega needed someone delicate whether he would admit that or not.

Izuku felt far too drawn to Bakugou. His alpha screamed at him to coddle and care for the blonde. To leave a mating mark on his throat and show the whole world that he was Izuku's and Izuku was his. And something inside him curled viciously in anger that he had never before felt at the thought that Bakugou had been hurt before. Those last couple of words he said just before he ran off, the amount of pain that Izuku could hear in his voice.

Izuku's fists tighten in red hot rage, a growl starting to build up slowly in his chest.

“Are you okay?” Kaminari suddenly asks, shaking Izuku from his thoughts, “You looked…scary.” He lands on, leaning closer to Shinsou and away from Izuku now.

“Yes.” Izuku says quickly before continuing, “I was just thinking about what you said. You know, how Bakugou had a bad experience.”

“You seem very occupied by him,” Shinsou points out, bumping shoulders with the greenette teasingly.

“Maybe.” Izuku mutters under his breath, not meeting his friend's eyes directly.

“Do you want to head back to the receptionist and ask for the files on the omegas we want to take care of?” Shinsou asks him, serious now.

They had both been studying for months to prepare for this moment. They had luckily both passed the test on their first tries and were able to finally go to an omega shelter to scout out who they might want. They had been to a couple already but it was hard to pick. They wanted to take home ones that truly needed the help. But they also know their own limits and how time consuming their jobs are. They wanted to also pick ones that wouldn't need them around all the time because they physically could not be around all the time.

Kaminari gives them sparkling eyes and a blinding smile, “Thank you for talking to me!”

“Thank you for talking to us, as well.” Shinsou replies, cracking a bit of a grin at the omega. Izuku doesn't want to startle anyone by jumping up and down and throwing his hands into the air while cheering but seeing Shinsou grin like that, one that seems so honest, is not something he sees often. Izuku contains himself as he waves bye to Kaminari and he and Shinsou walk to the entrance to go back to the receptionist and ask for the files.

The receptionist immediately recognizes them and smiles animatedly, “Welcome back! Did anyone catch your attention? I can give you a bit more information on them if you would like.”

Shinsou speaks up first, resting an arm on the desk and leaning forward towards the beta woman, “Denki Kaminari.”

Her eyes light up, “Ahh, he's a cutie, isn't he? Always very bright. Let me get you his file.”

She stands from her swivel chair and walks over to the locked door behind her desk. She retrieves a key from her pocket and uses it to unlock the door before stepping in and closing it behind herself.

“Kaminari, huh?” Izuku giggles, poking Shinsou playfully in the side.

“Shut up.” Shinsou rolls his eyes but doesn't stop talking, “He was sweet.”

“He was.” Izuku agrees just as the woman is coming back out.

“Here you are,” She chimes, placing a file down on the desk in front of Shinsou and tapping the top of it twice, “Just don't leave the building until you return this to me, alright?”

“Got it.” Shinsou confirms before picking it up and wandering over to the waiting area so he can sit down and relax as he reads through it.

“And for you, Mr. Dekiru?” She questions, calling him by his hero name.

“Uh, Katsuki Bakugou?” Izuku says, his voice wavering as if he's unsure even though he's never been more confident in his life about the words leaving his mouth.

Her eyes widen a bit and she doesn't immediately turn around to get the files for him, “He actually talked to you?”

“Yes. He did.” Izuku nods, smiling a bit.

“Wow. Well, okay, I'll get you your files right away!” She claps her hands together a couple times as if she's excited before she finally turns around on the balls of her feet and heads to the door.

It only takes a couple moments before she's coming back out again with the file in her hand, “Same thing I told him, okay? No leaving the building.”

“Yes, ma'am. Thank you so much.” He says, taking the file from her hand and nodding graciously.

“Of course. He's a special omega. I'm very happy he has caught your attention of all people.” She adds, her face conveying how truthful her words are.

“I'm glad too.” He whispers softly as he turns and goes over to sit beside Shinsou.

Izuku doesn't open up the file and begin reading yet. Instead, he looks expectantly at his purple haired friend and waits for him to say something.

“He has severe ADHD. So no alpha wanted him.” Shinsou bites out, his eyes slanted as if angry.

Izuku knows that Shinsou is just upset that there are so many incompetent alphas in the world. Personally, Izuku didn't find it very hard to just care a little extra for an omega who has a disability. But some alphas were just shitty, shitty people.

“What kind?” Izuku asks to make more conversation in the silence. And to help stave off Shinsou's brewing anger.

“Hyperactivity. It's not difficult to get prescribed medicine. I think I'm going to take him home. But only if he wants to come with me.” Shinsou decides, looking up and meeting Izuku's eyes. Izuku knows that look. Shinsou is doubting himself. He needs Izuku to tell him that this is a good idea.

“I think you definitely should. I felt something between you two.” Izuku agrees, placing a supportive hand on the purple haired alpha's shoulder.

“Yeah.” Shinsou sighs a bit shakily, “How about you?”

“I haven't read it yet.” Izuku admits, looking down at the file in his hands. Izuku notices suddenly that his clammy hands are causing some sweat to soak into the paper. He sets the file down on his lap before wiping his hands off on his shirt and taking a deep breath in.

“Go on,” Shinsou encourages, giving Izuku a determined look.

Izuku nods before letting the breath go and picking the file back up to open it.

BAKUGOU, KATSUKI

Age: 20
Gender: male
Second Gender: omega
Quirk: nitroglycerin sweat that can be exploded, powerful
Scent: Campfire (some state to smell just a hint of toasted marshmallow, but this is not confirmed)
Parents: Masaru and Mitsuki Bakugou
Siblings: N/A
Education: attended everything up to senior year, dropped out towards the middle of senior year
Behavior: Skittish, prejudice, quick to defend, intelligent, prefers having lights on, mean to a degree, been known to curse a bit
Past Mates: Kenzo Mori

Further information: Bakugou was brought here after a distressing call was made by him to the police. All we know is that in the call he said he didn't have much time and he had finally found a chance to call for help. Apparently he had also called his parents just minutes before, but since then he has had no connection with them (the shelter has attempted to reach out to them but they have been pretty firm on their choice to not talk to their son). The police showed up to the house and only found Mori at first. Mori would not let them in at first but as soon as one officer caught sight of Bakugou in the background in the living room, they forced their way in. One officer kept Mori at bay and another went in to talk with Bakugou. He was found completely naked, tied up, tape over his mouth, and flailing around trying to escape. He had multiple bruises all across his body, scratches, and more concerning abrasions. He was very skinny and pale, his mouth dry and proof that he was dehydrated. He was taken to the hospital immediately and Mori was sent to jail, a trial date set up for him. After a couple months, Bakugou recovered enough to take refuge at this shelter. He did not attend the court trial as the victim going against Mori, stating he never wanted to see Mori again. Without Bakugou, Mori got off only having to do volunteer work. Bakugou still has notable problems around aggressive alphas. He has heat trauma, as Mori never cared for him during it. And he also shows signs that he was raped often. Scars on his neck make us suspect Mori pretended to mate mark him but always cut it off early. Proceed with caution and the proper training if you plan on taking him home.

Izuku has to force the tears away that threaten to drop from his eyes. This is far worse than he thought. How could anyone do this to someone? Rape? Heat neglect? That's terrible. Omegas have to have an alpha during their heat or they could become very depressed. Cut off mating mark, God that might be the worst one. A mating mark when stopped too early is one of the most painful things a person can endure. At least that's what Izuku's been told. He has no idea what it feels like and he never wants to know and his heart is shattering hearing that this has happened to his omega.

His omega?

Huh. He's never been super possessive of an omega before.

“So, what's the verdict?” Shinsou questions, noticing the way Izuku is less looking at the paper and more just spacing out into his thoughts.

“Abuse.” Izuku wants to explain more but that's all he can say right now without breaking down and letting his temper take over him.

“Shit. No wonder he was so untrusting.” Shinsou concludes, rubbing a hand down his face in exasperation.

“Well, why don't we go tell the receptionist that I have interest in Kaminari.” Shinsou sighs quietly, patting Izuku on the back to urge him out of his daze.

“And Bakugou.” Izuku mutters under his breath, making Shinsou cock his head.

“What was that?” He asks, leaning a bit closer to ensure he will hear Izuku properly this time.

“I want to try and see if I can take Bakugou home with me,” Izuku clarifies, meeting Shinsou's eyes with confidence.

“Really? You don't think it will be too hard to help him? I get that you have your whole hero complex but if you can't seriously give him all the attention he deserves you know you should leave him for someone who is more capable.” Shinsou reminds the greenette.

Izuku knows Shinsou isn't trying to sabotage him. What he's saying makes sense. Izuku is a hero. The number 8 hero. He has a busy lifestyle. And while studying up on everything he needed to so that he could help a shelter omega it specifically stated that you have to recognize when you can actually care for an omega or not.

Even knowing that, Izuku can't help but want to be the person that Katsuki needs. And he knows this isn't his hero complex talking. This is different.

And so Izuku says that aloud.

“It's not my hero complex. I swear that this is different. Bakugou feels different.” Izuku has heard many legends about fated mates. He never believed something so lucky could ever find him but now something deep inside him is screaming to break free and be one with Bakugou. Which is weird for an omega he only just met.

“If you say so. Your downfall is none of my business,” Shinsou jokes, still sounding a bit unsure.

“Have some faith in me. I'm All Might's successor, I can do anything!” Izuku says to convince himself more than anyone else.

Shinsou shrugs before standing from his seat and beginning to wander back over to the receptionist desk, Izuku gets up as well to follow just after him.

“Did you two come to a decision?” The beta asks, clasping her hands together and giving a very cheesy smile.

“We did.” Shinsou grins, taking Izuku's file to hand them both over.

“So?” She says expectantly, perking up to hear the answer.

“I'd like to talk to Kaminari first and ask if he'd like to come with me,” Shinsou explains to her.

She swoons a little, “How sweet! Yes, of course you can. I'll send one of the caretakers to fetch him in a second and bring him to a meeting room.”

“Thank you very much.” Shinsou nods before turning his attention to Izuku.

“I'd like to do the same but for Bakugou, please.” Izuku tells her, earning a furrowed brow look from her.

“Are you sure? He's pretty defiant. It might be in your best interest for one of the staff to inform him today and you come back in a couple days to take him home.” She suggests, tapping her heel against the ground anxiously.

“Nope. I'd like to discuss it with him.” Izuku says again, confident in his choice.

“Oh. Alright. But a caretaker must go in with you in case he gets too unhappy. For both your and his safety.” She relents, taking both of the files and setting them aside on top of her keyboard.

“Of course, I understand.” Izuku replies, pumped up now.

“You two can stay here while I send some staff to get them.” She tells them, smiling again.

Katsuki is sleeping peacefully when a caretaker barges in.

“Bakugou? Are you awake?” The beta boy asks in a hushed voice, fiddling self consciously with the ends of his shirt sleeves.

“Now I am.” Katsuki grumbles, sitting up on his bed and glaring at the beta.

“You've been requested in a meeting room.” The beta tells him, trying to stand up more straight.

“What.” Katsuki barks, knowing full well that the meeting rooms were only used for one thing. Sometimes, if the alpha was especially gentlemenly then they would request to speak to their chosen omega in a meeting room to ensure the omega agrees to come home with them. But don't get it twisted because even if an omega went in there and said they didn't want to go with alpha, the alpha might be selfish enough to take them home anyways.

“Is there a problem?” The beta asks in a shaky voice.

“I don't want to talk to some random ass alpha! You can't make me!” Katsuki hisses. He knows it's not the beta's decision but he's angry at him—no, at the world—nonetheless.

“Plsease, Bakugou, this is a very nice alpha. He's a pro hero in the top ten and passed the test to take care of a shelter omega with flying colors. He is one of the nicest alphas I've met, personally.” The beta informs him, trying to convince Katsuki that everything will be okay.

“Fine. I'll go talk to this shitty alpha. But you can't expect me to actually want to go home with him.” Katsuki growls, standing from his bed and following the beta out.

All the other omegas in the main area stare at him intensely. Out of all the omegas here, it was an unsaid rule to not anger Katsuki. It was also a known thing that Katsuki wanted nothing to do with alphas, nor would he ever even entertain the idea of going home with an alpha.

Yet here Katsuki is. Being taken to a meeting room. To see who? There were two alphas that came over to talk to him and Dunce Face today. That Deku. And the purple haired alpha. Katsuki is secretly hoping it's not the purple haired alpha waiting for him in the meeting room. He reminded Katsuki of his last alpha when he got snappy and bitched about Katsuki's scent.

“We're here.” The beta tells him, pointing to a door, “I'll go in with you two so that we can keep things civil.”

The way the beta says that makes Katsuki wilt inside. Keep things civil? How could it be Deku on the other side of the door if they needed to keep things “civil.” Deku seemed kind. And peaceful. He was handsome and seemed pretty in control of his emotions. He wasn't some loose canon. He almost seemed like someone that Katsuki could place his trust in. Not that he would ever admit that aloud.

The beta opens the door and uses a hand on the blonde's back to guide him inside. Katsuki's eyes zip around before they lock with a pretty color. Green. Katsuki likes green. He doesn't know when he began liking it but it looks really good on Deku.

“Hello, Bakugou.” Deku waves politely before nodding towards a seat across from him to offer Katsuki to sit in it.

Katsuki slowly makes his way over to the seat and pulls it out from under the table, plopping down into it gracefully before he gazes directly into Deku's eyes.

“So, I saw your file—”

“Then you know now how difficult it would be to take me home.” Katsuki cuts him off, his hands gripping his thighs where his arms are resting on his legs.

“No. I was going to say that I thought you had an interesting quirk,” Deku says, his brows furrowed as he studies the blonde.

“So you just want me for my quirk, hah?” Katsuki accuses, slamming a balled fist down on the table.

“Bakugou, he doesn't want you for his quirk.” The beta interjects from the corner of the room.

Katsuki leans back in his seat again, crossing his arms over his chest and huffing.

“Do you want to know what my quirk is?” Deku asks him to start up a real conversation.

“Go ahead. I doubt I'll be impressed but maybe I'll consider talking to you more if you manage to surprise me.” Katsuki bites out, his eyes back on Deku again.

“That's fair,” Deku chuckles before continuing, “I almost feel like this would be easier if there were a file on me that you could read through like I did for you.”

Katsuki doesn't laugh at his attempt at a joke, even though at the back of his mind he agrees that this would be a lot easier if he could just read a file about Deku, “Get on with it.”

“Ah, okay,” Deku gulps, “I have a couple quirks.”

Katsuki's eyes widen a bit but he schools them back to normal so that Deku won't be able to tell.

“Seven to be exact. My quirk is called One For All. For starters, I can enhance all my regular abilities. Then I have blackwhip,” Deku demonstrates it by letting tiny tentacle-like tendrils slither out from his fingers and flick around a bit.

“Ew.” Katsuki sniffs out, glaring at them. Deku deactivates his quirk and they go away immediately, retreating to his fingertips.

“Then float, which does exactly as it sounds like. I can float in the air. And danger sense which can alert me of something trying to hurt me. And a smokescreen allows me to hide myself away from my enemies. Then Fa jin allows me to store energy thrown at me and use it to attack. And, lastly, gearshift allows me to change the speed of things.” Deku finishes, watching Katsuki carefully to detect his reaction.

“How the hell do you have so many?” Katsuki asks, not yet fully believing it's true.

“I, uh, was just born with this many.” Deku says, smiling softly and looking down at his hands as if remembering something.

“Mr. Dekiru here saved the whole world against the league of villains when he was in high school, and is now the number 8 pro hero.” The beta basically brags on Deku's behalf.

“Oh. You're that hero?” Katsuki says under his breath.

“Yes. But anyone could have done that, I just happened to be there.” Izuku says, looking off to the beta and chuckling shyly.

“Yeah, but you did it. Own up to it, Dekiru.” Katsuki draws out the hero's name, snapping his mouth shut at the end of his sentence so his teeth make an audible click.

Izuku's eyes are locked on him, and Katsuki doesn't know if he's making it up or not but he feels like they're glowing just a little bit. They're very pretty. Not that any alpha would appreciate Katsuki calling their eyes pretty.

“What made you choose the name Dekiru, anyhow?” Katsuki questions, resting his head on one of his fists as he smirks at the greenette.

“Everyone kept mistaking my name as Deku. I hated it. But then my friend Uravity told me it was close to the word Dekiru. Thus my hero name was born.” He explains with a bright smile, a smile bigger than any other one Katsuki has seen him wear so far.

Something evil and bitter grips Katsuki's throat like a vice as he watches Izuku talk about this Uravity.

Katsuki can't help himself as he chokes out, “Who the fuck is Uravity?”

Izuku just smiles some more, “My best friend, Ochako Uraraka. You should meet her sometime, she's really sweet.”

Katsuki says his next words so quickly he doesn't even fully register what he has said for a couple of seconds until it's too late to take them back, “I can be sweet.”

The beta in the corner coughs under his breath, turning fully around to stare into the wall.

Izuku's smile grows into something else. Something more consuming and cocky. Something that makes Katsuki want to keen and turn his neck to the side to offer himself up. But Katsuki fights that urge. Because he's offered his throat before and all it brought him was pain. Pain that can never be erased from his mind no matter how hard he tries.

A voice at the back of his mind queries whether that pain would go away if Izuku tried to make it go away. Katsuki shuts down that train of thought entirely and slams his eyes close, turning his head away.

“Kacchan?”

Katsuki's eyes snap back open. Izuku's voice sounded so soft and understanding. So kind and like it would crack open because of the pain Katsuki has endured. And that name. Where did it come from?

“What did you call me?” Katsuki asks, his voice sounding hoarse now as he narrows his eyes at the alpha across from him. He suddenly feels an immense urge to rip the scent patches off of his neck and stuff his face just behind his green curls to take him all in.

What the fuck was that fantasy?

“While I was studying, the books said that giving a nickname to an omega is a friendly way to help calm their nerves down and…I, uh, felt like it fit you.” Izuku says honestly, scratching behind his neck and making a corner of his scent patch rise up just slightly. Katsuki takes in so much air right then and there, sifting through all the smells until—

The sharp smell of mossy bark fills his nostrils for mere seconds before the most wonderful thing he's ever smelled slips away just as quickly and he's back to smelling nothing.

Katsuki forces himself to focus as he answers the greenette, “So, what? You're just going to call me that now?”

“If you'll allow me to.” Izuku says slowly, tipping his head forward and gazing intently at Katsuki.

“Maybe I will let you. Deku.” Katsuki adds the last part for good measure, smirking when it gets Izuku to crack a tiny smile.

“Will you allow me to take you home as well?” Izuku suddenly asks, his right hand, flat on the table, begins to tap his pointer finger every second as if anxiously waiting for his answer.

“I don't know.” Katsuki says simply, looking away from Izuku so that he doesn't regret his words.

“Tell me what I need to do to earn your company.” Izuku begs, his eyes dancing with light, and suddenly Katsuki is already looking back into them again.

“I don't need your company. I just don't want to feel the pain that he gave me anymore. If you can manage to chase that away, then I'm yours. But you'll be mine as well, got that?” Katsuki sets down the ground rules, clasping his hands together under the table now as he bounces one of his legs up and down, scared of how Izuku will take his words.

“I'll try as hard as I can. I promise, I won't stop until I succeed.” Izuku nods, his eyes lighting up even more.

Katsuki has felt scared before. Arguably this is nowhere near as bad as it had been when he was with Mori. For some odd, unexplainable reason, he trusts Izuku when he probably shouldn't. Then why does he get the feeling he's about to say yes?

“Fine. I'll go home with you.”

Oh. Because he did say yes.

Izuku jumps up from his seat in excitement, throwing his hands in the air and cheering, “You won't regret this, Kacchan! I'll make sure of it.”

Katsuki rears back a little at his outwardly expression, his pupils turning to calculating slits as he looks over Izuku's body.

“Come on, let's go to the front desk so I can sign all the paperwork to take you home.” Izuku says, offering a hand to the pretty blonde.

Katsuki looks at his scarred hand like it's a snake ready to strike at just the right moment.

Izuku is about to take his hand back as he says, “Not a hand holder?”

Before Izuku can let his hand drop back to his side, Katsuki snarls, “Shut up!” And snatches his hand into his own, blushing bashfully.

The beta at the corner of the room puts a hand over his mouth as if trying not to laugh.

“I'll be leaving now since you two have sorted everything out. Enjoy your new home, Bakugou,” the beta bows to the blonde before waving goodbye and walking out the door.

Izuku and Katsuki do the same just a moment later, exiting hand in hand as Izuku leads the blonde carefully to the front desk area.

The lady sees them coming and smiles. Until her eyes drop to where their hands are conjoined and her mouth drops open in surprise.

“Hello again.” Izuku greets her, not missing the way Katsuki takes a couple steps closer to him and is now practically almost pushed up against his side.

Izuku isn't sure if the omega is shy or just uncomfortable, but he hopes it is not the latter. If he's just shy then that's really cute. But it's Izuku's duty to make sure Katsuki feels okay wherever he is.

“I'd just like to fill out the forms to take him home with me,” Izuku tells her, rubbing his thumb soothingly over the back of Katsuki's hand.

Katsuki's body shivers against his own, a very quiet purr starting, one only Izuku is able to hear.

Admittedly, Izuku is a little shocked at how quickly he was able to get Katsuki to do such a thing. He expected Katsuki to still be very skittish. Yet, here he is, fitting against his side, gripping his hand, purring so sweetly.

“Here they are. Thank you for your service.” She says, handing over the paperwork and a pen.

Izuku walks over to sit down as he fills it out, Katsuki walking right beside him and taking his place in the seat next to the greenette's.

Izuku sighs as he lets go of Katsuki's hand to begin writing. The greenette physically feels pain when he hears Katsuki whimper quietly from no longer holding the alpha's hand.

“How long is this going to take?” Katsuki grits out, side eyeing the paper like it personally owes him money.

“I'll try to make it quick. I want to go home just as much as you do.” Izuku points out, filling out the details that swim in front of him on the page as fast as he can just as he promised.

Katsuki sits quietly, the only sound he makes being the tap of his right foot on the ground.

“Midoriya. I see you convinced him faster than I convinced Kaminari,” Izuku raises his head at the sound of Shinsou's voice.

Izuku cocks his head and smiles at the two of them, “Really?”

Katsuki growls under his breath, the tapping of his foot picking up pace.

Kaminari is standing just a couple inches away from Shinsou, his two arms latched around Shinsou's right bicep as Kaminari all but clings to his new alpha.

“I didn't want to burden him. I know he's a hero and has a busy job,” Kaminari explains to Izuku, looking up at the purple haired alpha.

“Yeah. But I assured him that I can handle whatever is thrown my way,” Shinsou adds, using his left hand to pat one of Kaminari's arms in a calming way.

“Are you already filling out the forms?” Shinsou asks Izuku, peeking over at the papers in the greenette's lap.

Izuku nods his head, “Yup! I'm just about done, actually.”

“Thank god.” Katsuki hisses, continuing to glare at the paperwork.

“Uh, are you okay Bakugou?” Kaminari asks in a soft voice, gazing at him with a worried expression.

“I think Kacchan is just sick of waiting around for so long,” Izuku sighs, fully agreeing with the sentiment himself. He wants to be home already. At home with his new omega.

“Yeah. What he fucking said.” Katsuki snaps, rolling his crimson eyes and looking away.

“Wait, did you call him Kacchan?” Kaminari giggles, stuffing his face into Shinsou's arm to muffle the sounds.

“Don't you dare laugh at me, Dunce Face!” Katsuki roars at the other omega, stomping over and punching him in the side. Izuku knows what a punch aimed to hurt someone looks like, which is why he also knows—even though it's still kind of harsh because this is Katsuki we're talking about—that this was Katsuki playfully punching Kaminari.

“Hey, man, come on! You have to admit that it's funny! Tough guy like you letting yourself be called Kacchan!” Kaminari does not stop laughing, which only angers Katsuki more.

“Yeah! Well don't get any funny ideas! Only he can call me that!” Katsuki shouts at him, crossing his arms defensively over his chest.

“Why? Because he's your alpha?” Kaminari teases, snickering even more.

“No shit.” Katsuki states like it's obvious. Izuku's chest swells at the possessiveness in the blonde's voice.

Izuku gets so distracted at it all that when he looks down at the paper again he realizes he's been stalling when there was literally only one thing left to fill out. He quickly signs off on his name before calling Katsuki back over.

“Kacchan, it needs you to sign your name.” Izuku beckons, stealing the blonde's attention away from Kaminari as he pads his way back over to the greenette.

Izuku hands over the pen and Katsuki flawlessly signs his name.

“Thank you.” Izuku smiles at the omega and doesn't miss the way his cheeks turn pink, “I'll go turn this in now.”

As he walks over to turn it in, Shinsou and Kaminari are just behind him so that they can ask for their own paperwork.

“Here, I am all finished,” Izuku tells the beta as he hands her the papers.

She smiles as she takes them, “Good. I just have to read through them quickly before I actually let you leave.”

Then she turns to Shinsou and waits to hear what he needs.

“I'd like to fill out the paperwork to take Kaminari home,” Shinsou says, looking down at the omega that clings to him and smiling a bit.

Shinsou always has a very tired feeling to him. He is cranky all the time and can always be spotted throwing a cup of coffee into the back of his throat. It's rare to see him smile a genuine smile and not one full of condescension or sarcasm. But this smile that he points at Kaminari…well Izuku hasn't ever seen a truer smile from Shinsou before.

“Alright, here you are,” she hands the paperwork over and sighs happily.

“You know, it's not every day that we have two hero alphas come in and take on omegas. You two are seriously doing a great service to Kaminari and Bakugou. I thank you for that,” she sits back down and rests her face on both of her hands, smiling wide.

“Of course.” Shinsou assures her, reading over the paperwork mindlessly.

“I really like Kacchan,” is all Izuku can manage to say.

Katsuki shoves a hand into Izuku's side as he uses his other hand to hide his cheeks. Izuku can only assume that they have turned that pretty pink again.

“What? It's true!” Izuku confirms to Katsuki, causing a quiet purr to rise from the blonde's chest. Again, it's one that only Izuku can hear and it warms the greenette's heart. Really, he expected Katsuki to not be this opening so quickly. What he did expect, though, was for Katsuki to be just as untrusting as his file said he would be. But oddly enough, it feels like he's that way with everyone but Izuku.

Izuku doesn't understand why Katsuki is so okay with him but he's certainly not going to complain about such a thing. It's a blessing, if anything.

“Well, I'm going to go sit down and start filling this out,” Shinsou says, interrupting Izuku and Katsuki's little staring contest.

Izuku watches Shinsou and Kaminari walk over to the seats and sit down beside one another.

Then the greenette's attention turns back to the receptionist as he watches her flip a page in his paperwork. There's only three pages so hopefully she will be done soon.

Izuku dislikes paperwork. He rather just write down a bunch of information in his notebooks. The paperwork he always has to fill out for his hero work is very draining, and personally he feels as if it always asks the wrong questions. He could write down a lot more of the important details of things if he did it without the guidelines of the stupid paperwork. Which is why his desk at his agency is currently piled with paperwork that he swears he'll get to at some point. Lucky for him, if he waits long enough then his agency people will do it for him.

At first they used to call Izuku into a room and forced to sit down as they asked the questions aloud so he could answer them and they could write it down on the paper. Now, they have installed a very tiny camera on Izuku's hero suit so that they can just watch back the footage and get the answers without having Izuku be all dodgy and miserable about it the whole time.

The receptionist turns the last page and Izuku turns around and looks away to keep himself from getting too excited. Now, he's face to face with the blonde omega who is looking around aimlessly.

“If you would like, we can stop by the store before going home to buy you anything you might need. Just the basics for now. I'll take you this weekend to get more sustainable stuff.” Izuku says, watching as Katsuki's eyes slowly move to lock with his own.

Izuku really likes the color of the omega's eyes. Such a dark, deep crimson red color.

“When you say anything…?” Katsuki trails off, looking a tad bit hesitant still, as if he is afraid to just assume that Izuku would be kind enough to genuinely mean that.

“There's no budget for you, Kacchan.” Izuku whispers, grinning at the way the blonde's eyes light up a little.

“Why are you so okay with wasting your money on me?” Katsuki questions, suspicious still as he eyes the greenette with scrutiny.

“First of all, I make a lot of money as the number 8 hero so I assure you I can manage whatever you might want.” Izuku smirks, watching Katsuki's eyes widen before he forces them to return to normal, “Second off, it wouldn't be a waste because you are my omega now. Anything that belongs to me belongs to you, and personally I consider my money to fall into that.”

“Okay,” Katsuki says very slowly before continuing, “but just know this, I don't want you for your money, Deku.”

“I didn't really think you did since you agreed to come with me before money ever came up, Kacchan,” Izuku giggles softly, making Katsuki roll his eyes.

“Don't make me sound so sappy. I'm not like that.” Katsuki snaps, crossing his arms over his chest.

“I know, Kacchan. You're so much better.” He doesn't know what makes him say the last part, but once it is out he doesn't even really regret it one bit. Katsuki is better. Unfortunately for all other omegas, they never caught Izuku's eyes like Katsuki has today.

“Alright. I am done looking through it. Everything looks good to go,” the beta sings, taking the paperwork and placing it somewhere under her desk.

“You can decide to take his file home or have me shred it,” she informs him, holding the file up.

Izuku looks over at Katsuki to see what the blonde would like to do with it, “Kacchan?”

“I don't need some shitty file laying around that's telling me who I am. Shred it.” Izuku has no idea really what Katsuki means by that but he doesn't question him about either.

“Shred it.” Izuku agrees, watching as the beta nods.

“Alright let me grab the key to take your quirk bracelet off,” she says, turning to walk back into the file room like she did earlier. Izuku assumes that the key must be in there along with all the omega files.

Izuku looks at Katsuki, expecting to find him smiling but instead having his eyes widen as he looks upon a shaking blonde. He's shivering so bad he looks like a wet dog. And his scent. Oh god.

Something boils in Izuku's blood from how distressed the blonde smells. Izuku wants to chase down and slaughter whatever is making Katsuki feel like this right now.

“Kacchan? Is everything alright? I could pull the paperwork back if you have changed your mind about coming home with me?” Izuku offers even as his chest threatens to break open in pain at the idea of that.

“N-no.” That is all Katsuki can say.

Fear grips Katsuki from all angles, holding him in place and keeping him from speaking a full, comprehensive sentence.

He has to explain to Izuku. He has to tell his alpha how scared he is. How afraid he is to have access to his quirk again after such a long time of not being able to use it. He's worried it will go crazy and he'll hurt someone that he doesn't mean to hurt and he'll just be sent right back here again and marked as crazy because he can't control his own damn quirk.

“Here we are,” the beta woman says as she comes back from the door with a key in her hand.

Katsuki has just enough sense about him to move his wrist that has the bracelet on it behind his back.

“Bakugou, sweetie, I need your hand so I can take your bracelet off. Don't you want to use your quirk again?” She asks, chuckling awkwardly.

“I can't.” Katsuki snaps, taking a step back.

From across the room, Katsuki can vaguely hear Kaminari whimpering, probably on edge from how upsetting Katsuki's scent smells. Katsuki didn't mean to disturb the other omega, he just…he just is afraid.

A hand curls around him and presses into the small of his back, rubbing slowly as Izuku—the only grounding voice in this whole damned room at the moment—speaks up, “Come on, Kacchan, it's just this one last thing so that we can go home and rest.”

What he says makes total sense. Katsuki just has to get this done and over with so that they can get out of here already. But the fear in Katsuki's mind twists around in circles and screams that it also makes sense to shy away from the key. Katsuki's quirk has hurt people in the past. And the last time it hurt someone was when…

And he doesn't want to think about that. Not ever again. Especially not right now. When he's with this new alpha who has already been far too caring then what should be allowed. Because Katsuki is just some broken omega at the end of the day. And he knows how problematic it will be to take care of him. And the problems are already starting right now. He's delicate now. He has the trauma to prove what he went through was not just all made up. And he doesn't want to admit it but that trauma still affects the stuff he decides to do and how he reacts to certain things to this day.

Izuku steps in front of the blonde, hiding the key from his line of sight as he sets his hands on Katsuki's shoulders and leans in close to whisper to the omega, “Tell me what's wrong, Kacchan.”

It's not an alpha command but it is full of so much love that Katsuki finds himself getting all tripped up.

“I-I don't want anyone to get hurt,” Katsuki admits, squeezing his eyes shut tight.

“Hey, look at me,” Izuku says softly, waiting until the blonde opens his eyes again. Now, Katsuki stares directly into those gorgeous green orbs. They're so expressive.

“Why would anyone get hurt?” Izuku questions, rubbing his hands down and up Katsuki's arms to help soothe him.

“My quirk.” Katsuki says, voice shaky as he tries to stay focused on the alpha's eyes.

“I won't let anything happen.

And, besides, those words are so sweet. Protect everyone from Katsuki and Katsuki from everyone. How can Katsuki just pass up such a sweet sentiment as that one? He's practically melting just at the implications of it. How can this random alpha care so much for him?

“O-okay.” Katsuki mutters, taking his hand out from behind his back.

“Good. Everything is going to be okay.” Izuku says for good measure, stepping out of the way so that Katsuki can offer his wrist up to the desk lady.

She inserts the key and twists it, waiting until she hears a click to pull it out. Katsuki's bracelet falls with a clatter onto the receptionist desk and the blonde holds his breath for whatever is to come next.

Notes:

I got a bit carried away with how much I wrote. I was on another road trip today and it came to me early this morning to write it. Thus how I wrote 10,000 words in one day....I need a break 😭😭
