Chapter Text
CHAPTER 1 - The kidnapping.
Original female character: Ashlyn Woods
Ashlyn was a normal person for most of her life, Grew up with decent parents, had 2 other siblings, and was unbothered by anything. She didn’t need friends so she never bothered to make any. Many would call her lonely, but she never saw it that way.
She never wanted friends, she was okay with being in her own little world. Just her and her headphones against the world.
After graduation she wanted some change for once, a chance to be someone else. So she made a friend, his name was James. James “Bucky” Barnes. He was a guarded person but in a way also warm…
He always looked like he had something on his mind, and he had this horrible staring problem. But, she got used to it after a while.
They met at the local diner.
“ Would you try the plum pie here? I heard it’s good..”
Ashlyn looked toward the man on her left, he looked like a good person to be friends with. At first she could tell he had some shit going on, but he looked alone. Something she always was, and probably only will be.
“It’s good. Not too sweet.”
Bucky’s back straightened a bit as he turned his head to face her. His head tilting as he spoke.
“Thanks, I’ll try it now.”
She turned away from him. talking to the server about getting that plum pie.
Over the weeks they slowly got closer, seeing each other every other night at the same diner. Maybe even during the day, although that was rare.
Ashlyn opened the door to the diner, the familiar sent hitting fast. Looking around she spotted Bucky, she walked toward him, sitting down beside him.
“Ur day, how was it?” She questioned.
“ Why? “
“ Why? You look like you’re carrying the weight of 50 Capitan Americas on your back.”
“ that was rough. Just didn’t sleep well, I’m fine.”
“ I bet. You like black coffee right? Well, atleast when you’re not drinking beer or bourbon.”
“ Yeah, I do.”
“ good, cause I got you some.”
Ashlyn slid the coffee across the table, putting it right in front Bucky.
“ Thank you, you didn’t have to do that.”
“Yeah, yeah.. Whatever. You’re welcome.”
After a good while of just being two people who somewhat talked to eachother, they got super close. Ashlyn knew about Bucky’s past only after he had told her himself. Saying that he was the winter soldier.
She didn’t view him any differently, he was still the same guy she met at the diner every other night. His past wasn’t relevant anymore, atleast to their friendship.
She told him-
“ Who you were, shouldn’t define who you are now. He is your past, not you. Don’t let him get in the way of our friendship, because I sure as hell won’t let him.”
Without realizing it, she became one of Bucky’s closet friends.
After a year of them being friends, she met Sam Wilson. She of course knew who he was, he was Capitan America.
“ Nice to meet you Capitan.”
She held out her hand for him to shake. A deadpan expression on her face.
Taking her hand he returned the gesture.
“ Nice to meet you too Ashlyn.”
Sam was a bit weirded out by Ashlyn’s deadpan personality. She was straightforward with everything, but she had her emotional moments. When it came down to it she was a good support. But, most of the time she would seem like everybody’s hater but she was in truth, just fully honest with her opinions.
But, they got close either way. With Bucky’s help…
One day while out on a walk with Bucky, she was gone.
“ I’m tired, I’m gonna head back home. See you tomorrow afternoon Bucky.”
“ Sure, I’ll see you tomorrow Ash.”
“ I told you stop calling me ash.”
She yelled at Bucky while walking home.
“ Whatever you say Ash!”
He pisses me off sometimes.
She thought to her self, suddenly she feels hands grab her. She tried to scream, but they had already put something over her mouth and nose.
Trying to fight back, she thought back to all the times her father fought her self defense.
The man behind holding her soon fell after she kicked him in the nuts. He was in the floor in a matter of seconds, more men came at her. At most 4 people.
She wasn’t suited for fighting 4 people, she barely even knew how to defend herself. Let alone fight against 4 people at once.
She was soon caught, with three men in pain on the ground. All had their nuts kicked. The last guy knew how she fought at that point and came at her with a plan, she was knocked unconscious by him with a metal pipe that was near by.
The next day, she didn’t show her face. Not the day after either. Bucky was worried, and so was Sam.
3 days after her disappearance, Sam and Bucky went to her apartment and knocked.
“ Ashlyn? Are you here? We haven’t heard from you from the last 3 days. We’re worried for you.. Are you okay?” Sam spoke with worry.
Bucky was behind him and probably even more concerned than Sam. Bucky yelled Ashlyn’s name from outside the door, telling her that if she didn’t answer within the next few seconds he would come in.
.
..
…
That’s it. He was going in.
Reaching into his coat pocket he pulled out a key.
“Wait, you have the key to her house?? Why didn’t you say so???”
Sam turned to Bucky.
“ I always have it with me, but I was never interested in using it. I never thought I would have to use it.”
Bucky responded, opening the door with a click.
“ Now stop taking and start looking.”
“ woah, slow down buddy. I’m sure she’s okay, it’s not like she went to the moon without telling you.”
Sam stopped Bucky with his arm, stoping him in his tracks.
“ Let’s take this slow, she’ll be okay no matter what. Because we’re here for her, and if something did happen then we’ll help her with whatever it is.”
Sam put his hand down and slowly walked into Ashlyn’s apartment.
“ Now hurry up you slow poke, we’re not waiting for the next century to come.”
Sam joked, looking around her apartment for any sign of her.
“Is she finally awake?”
“That took awhile-“
Ashlyn could hear voices all around her, but blinding lights blocked her from getting a good look at where she was.
She tried to sit up but there were restraints blocking her from moving too much.
“ wh- Where am I..?”
She asked, slowly getting used to the lights. The room being much clearer to see.
“ oh, glad to finally see you fully conscious. Ms Woods.”
“ who are you? where am I?”
“Now, slow down Ashlyn. I’ll tell you where you are. You are with HYDRA.”
“HYDRA..? I thought it was gone.. I thought Cap and Buck got rid of them..?”
“ HAH. We could NEVER fully be destroyed. HYDRA will always remain. Even if we are in the shadows.”
“ what do you want with me?? Is Bucky okay?”
“ Bucky will be fine, for now. You see Ashlyn-”
The man walked back n forth in front of Ashlyn, still smiling.
“ We’ve lost the winter soldier. He is gone, but that doesn’t mean we can’t remake him. And you, Ms Woods- Just seem to be the perfect person for that role.”
The man stopped and looked Ashlyn straight in the eyes.
“You, Ashlyn. Shall be the next winter soldier.”
“There’s no sign of her anywhere…”
Sam sighed, rubbing his temple.
It had been three weeks since she disappeared. And Joaquín couldn’t find out any thing except that she hadn’t come home that night.
“ Are you sure there was NO footage of her getting taken or anything?”
Sam asked Joaquín.
“Nothing that I can find- WAIT SAM - SAM LOOK!”
“ WHAT IS IT?!”
Rushing over to Torres he stopped to look at the computer screen. There it showed her getting kidnapped, by 4 men. With matching symbols.
“ HYDRA.. They did this.”
Sam whispered.
“ What? I thought HYDRA was taken down? How did they survive?” Torres asked Sam.
“I-I don’t know. But, is there any other recordings that you can find of that night?”
“Uhh- No I can’t…”
Torres was confused and concerned for this woman. Although they didn’t know each other personally she seemed like a great person and friend to Sam. And from their minimal interactions she was really honest but kind.
“Dang it. I’m going to tell Bucky about this and see what we can do..”
Sam walked away from Torres, each step seemed to leave a mark on the flooring.
“AAHHHH PLEASE- PLEASE- I BEG YOU!
AHHHHHHH”
Ashlyn screamed, begging, pleading, hoping. For someone, something to come save her…
I hope. I beg. Yet, no one comes. Why? Do I not deserve help? Maybe Bucky doesn’t care. Sam, maybe making friends was useless. after all THEY were the ones who did this to me. THEY are letting me die here, why do I bother… No one, is coming…
“ seems she’s finally given up. Stop. Proceed with phase two.”
The man with a German accent demanded.
“B-but sir, she’s not ready yet..? We still have two more weeks before phase two starts?”
“No, she’s given up. She knows no one is coming to her rescue. It seems she wasn’t as hard to break as we thought she would be. Now, begin phase two. I want it up and going by tomorrow.”
“Yes sir.. The super soldier serum shall be up and ready by tomorrow…”
