“...Hold on, can we still broadcast?”
“What? Why?” a crewmember asked.
“If we can broadcast, people will know we need assistance.” Mirror reasoned.
“Oh right! Guys, check if we can broadcast!” Valk shouted. “The intercom room is at the bottom of the tower, so we have some time!”
“Signals are live! We can broadcast!”
“That means they either couldn’t get to it or forgot it. Get ready to broadcast! Appearances don’t matter, just get this out ASAP!” Mirror shouted.
After some hurried preparation that took a couple minutes, Dom and Valk were in position, and the cameras started rolling.
“This is Flipside with an urgent announcement. Crossroads Tower is under attack by assailants CLAIMING to be with the Church of the True Eye.” Dom began.
“While we doubt their claims, the fact of the matter is that this group is organized and had enough manpower to take over the lower floors of the tower.” Valk continued.
“We are making this announcement via broadcast as the assailants have jammed our cellphones, preventing us from making calls. If you are ready, willing, and able, lend us your assistance.” Dom said.
“For our own safety, we are cutting this broadcast short and hiding somewhere in the tower. See you all on the Flipside.” Valk finished.
With that, the crew all rushed out to the stairs to get to the highest floors of Crossroads Tower, letting Dom and Valk go first. When they reached the top, everyone was out of breath, but they split up and kept moving to get as far away from the elevator and stairs as possible.
Mirror ended up with Dom, Valk, and Umbrella.
“We should be safe enough here.” Dom said.
“Please don’t jinx us.” Valk retorted.
“If the asshats open that door I’m going to attack immediately.” Mirror said.
“I’m with you on that, Mirror.” Umbrella responded.
The sound of footsteps and orders was heard by all four.
*“Find the false demigods! We must make an example of them!” a muffled voice barked, getting closer.
“Shit… was really hoping we wouldn’t have to fight.” Mirror muttered, pulling out his new tonfa.
“Guess we’d better prepare ourselves then.” Umbrella muttered back.
“We’ll support as much as we can.” Valk whispered.
Just then, the door was blown off its hinges and two Inphernals with melee gears rushed in.
*THWACK WHAP*
Only to get immediately kneecapped and be put out of commission by Mirror and Umbrella.
“Hana (one), dul (two).” Mirror whispers to himself.
Three more rush in, two melees and a support. One melee meets the point of Umbrella’s namesake, while the other gets clobbered by Mirror’s tonfa.
“Setjjae (third).”
Mirror and Umbrella break the supports arms with their gear before Mirror punches them in the face, knocking them into the next two that would’ve entered.
“Net (four).”
By now the assailants have realized what was happening and the two ranged ones open fire with their gear, a normal crossbow and an ice bow.
Mirror dodges back into the room, while Umbrella covers the entrance by opening his gear to act as a shield.
“We can’t advance like this, and they likely won’t stop firing.” Umbrella said.
“None of our gears can be used at a range.” Mirror said. “But I’ve got a trick up my sleeve that I was hoping I wouldn’t have to use yet.”
“Now would be the time to use it.” Umbrella retorted.
And with the sound of shattering glass…
“I know.”
Mirror equipped the Beak ID.
{Time to punish some foolish sinners!}
*BANG BANG BANG!*
Three well placed shots into the ranged assailants arms, two for the crossbowman, one for the drawing arm of the ice bowman.
“Daseot (five), Yeosotjjae (sixth).”
The three remaining assailants realized “Oh shit, one of them has a gun.” and gathered behind the one that has a shield for a gear.
It didn’t help much.
Valk used his gear to give Umbrella and Mirror an IMMENSE speed boost that both used to get behind the three remaining assailants.
*BANG BANG BANG!*
Three more shots, one to each of the right legs of the assailants. Umbrella then knocked them all out before any could get their bearings.
“Ilgop (seven), Yeodol (eight), Ahopjjae (ninth). Wallyo (executed). That’s all the ones here.”
“You fight well.” Umbrella complimented.
“We had good support and reason to fight.” Mirror said back.
“What happened to your outfit?” Valk asked.
“Allow me to introduce myself fully. I am Mirror of Possibilities. What you see now is one of my alternate selves.” Mirror explained.
The sound of shattering glass filled the hallway, and Mirror was back to normal.
“We’ve got two main choices right now. Go help the other crewmembers, or stay in place and wait for rescue.” Mirror said, looting the assailants.
“I wanna help them.” Valk said.
“I agree. I wish to ensure the safety of our employees.” Dom said.
“If that is what you two wish to do…” Umbrella said.
Mirror found what he was looking for on the assailants, and began to zip tie their hands and legs.
“There we go. Even have some extra.” Mirror said to himself. "Hold on, these guys have the missing eye, but their outfits don't have that shitty shade of teal."
"What do you mean?" Valk asked.
“They aren't from the Church. It doesn't matter right now, though, we need to focus on the crew. Move quietly, and together. I’m gonna put on an identity right now, so which would you prefer for the team comp? Melee, ranged, or support?”
“We’ve got two supports in me and Dom, and Umbrella can shield us, so ranged?” Valk offered.
“I agree, plus you did well with that white ‘identity’ as you called it.” Dom said.
“Alright, gimme a sec.” Mirror said.
Glass shattered again, and Mirror stood there in the Beak EGO suit once more.
“Ok, let’s get moving.”
