Chapter Text
It didn't take long for baby Signe to develop a language of her own. She had her way of getting what she wanted. Specific whines, specific cries, and specific wiggles and hand signals to get what she wanted.
Often times she just wanted to be held. She loved curling up to Dada's chest, muscular yet soft, and she loved how nice Mama smelled. Both parents provided her such warmth and care, how could she not demand more affection?
One morning as Illuga was getting ready to go to work, he suddenly had a very clingy Signe at his foot. “Daaa-aaaah!” she whined, not quite able to get multiple syllables out. She flashed her big needy eyes, and the next thing she knew she was strapped to Illuga's chest as he told Lohen that he would take the baby that day. He could only resist his daughter's charm so much.
On days when Illuga and Lohen were working on something together and Signe mostly got to observe, she still wanted to be right there in between her parents. Why should Mama and Dada touch if Signe could not also have contact? She reasoned with that bright little mind of hers, though less in words and more in that feeling of want.
In all of Signe's needy tendencies, she learned to be very happy in a papoose or another type of chest carrier while accompanying her parents. While Mama stayed home with her most of the time, sometimes she wanted to see what was so important that Dada would betray her and leave their den.
At the end of the day her parents could only refuse her so much. They hated to see her cry if she didn't need to and she was so gosh darn cute it was hard to say no to her.
She was their manipulative little daughter, that's for sure.
For every day that their little duckling wanted to spend the day nearby her parents, she also then fell asleep snuggled up to them in the cutest positions. Illuha remembers many times fondly of come home to Lohen and Signe curled up on the couch napping with her little head on his chest and Lohen's arms wrapped securely around her like she was his most precious treasure.
Lohen would occasionally find Illuga passed out on his desk from overwork and their baby would be sitting on his desk without a care in the world that was less cute. If she was asleep with her little head on his though, Lohen supposed he could excuse it.
The strangest habit she formed had to be when she wanted one specific food: carrots. She held her little hands up and made a hopping motion.
Illuga was positively delighted at this development. “Bunny, she really is your daughter.”
Lohen made a face that scrunched up his nose, rather like a bunny. This did not help his case. “I don't even like carrots all that much.”
As if possessed by the spirit of someone much cheekier than him, Illuga grinned. “That’s not what you said last night~”
Lohen was not amused.
Illuga slept on the couch that night.
