Chapter Text
After Lucy left my life changed drastically,it became quieter…
I couldn’t help but notice her absence from everything she was once in and now isn’t, her seat in class, her house across the street, and the spot on my piano she used to always lean on and listen to.
I couldn’t help but miss her high pitched voice, blueish and brownish eyes and everything about her feeling a deep ache in my chest thinking about her and all those moments I didn’t bother to care about her all those small moments between me and her..
The one at the skating show where we figure skated together after all her begging, The performance where she helped me get over stage fright, the show and tell and all those small moments we have spent together all out of an act of love
The more and more I thought of it my heart started aching out of the pure mistreatment that I had done to Lucy after all she done for me I thought while playing the piano and stumbling into a framed picture of me and her among a pile of stuff, her sweet smile and fierce look with me besides her, the day of a singing contest we’ve had both participated with as a duo, and ended up winning I hugged it to my chest as I decided to check the back,
A note neatly folded against the sides, I carefully opened the note to read what it said, “ A small piece of me given to you, Close your eyes and I'll kiss you, tomorrow I'll miss you, Love you Schroeder from Lucy Van Pelt, a girl who loves you”.

Some days after the leaving of Lucy’s leaving got around the town Freida seemed to take her place in her absence around me, occasionally laying on top of my piano some days after I was able to get my passion of playing the piano back a bit after her leaving it was hard but I had to continue what I loved to to do with Lucy, it was my future after all, she wouldn’t like me giving up on my life long passion for the piano just for her, Wouldn’t she surely?
Frieda was certainly much more annoying than Lucy, which was surprising since although she talked way less than her along with less crabbiness ,whenever she was there she would just simply make small talk about anything of course I tried to be polite but it was simply awkward, Sometimes I liked to pretend to imagine it was Lucy on my piano while Freida was there, it helped me get through those days when she decided to take her place.
Rather than having Freida spending time with me I rather preferred being alone practicing and playing the piano, at least there I could have some slight peace and distraction from Lucy although I thought of her many times during the day.
School was slightly worse to be honest , I had barley anyone to be partners with during any partner work everyone had their own person, even Charlie Brown with Heather a new girl, I got parried different people every time, I used to hate to be able to partner with anyone for school work but now I rather preferred picked, since Lucy wasn’t here anymore since she always found a way to work with me and now she can’t, how would she, she had moved.
Freida once again seemed to try partnering with me in attempts of her getting me to like her back, of course I never gave in to her delusions I was to recked with the feelings of me with Lucy, I haven’t expected to gain feelings for her at the worst possible moment but yet I did.
After all I’m not blaming her she was a kid with a crush on boy that somewhat had his main interest move away, she took her chance but I still don’t somewhat understand why she would to do that.
I missed her terribly but gradually realized my feelings for her the more I grew up, I felt horrible and selfish for now only starting to appreciate her affection when it was to late, I hated that I was too late, to late to express my feelings
As I the years passed I learned to not miss her as much, but I couldn’t help but think of her once or twice in a while as I slowly grew older, from third grade to freshman in a couple of long years as I navigated through the struggles of growing up and learning new things.
I still kept the framed picture of me and Lucy upon the wall, I kept it as a reminder of her and our childhood memories, I never really lost feelings for her, I hoped she didn’t to as well, I was stupid for not admitting I had feelings for her back then now it was surely too late to say anything about my feelings.

One a sunny cool morning I walked to school on a Monday morning as normal with a weird knot in my stomach that wouldn’t go away even as I entered the bathroom to wash out my face with cold water in hopes of calming whatever was wrong with me, slightly over hearing a conversation between Violet and Patty outside the bathroom although I wasn’t trying to eavesdrop on their conversation I couldn’t help but overhear Lucy’s name mentioned once or twice during their chatter.
Hearing her name made my heart skip a beat until I heard Violet mention that she was back in town after all these years.
I was starstruck hearing those words come out of Violets mouth,I stopped to stare at my reflection in the mirror as I stared back at a young boy with shaggy short blonde hair staring back at me
I started to question what would Lucy think about me?, what would Lucy look like, would she still be the same, Would she still like me?, as I fell into a rabbit hole of all my thoughts of her
As I felt my heart beating faster and my face getting red, and redder
as I splashed water on to my face in hopes of calming down,
I quickly fell out of my trance as I felt a hand on my shoulder,I quickly turned around to see to who it was, hoping it was not Lucy who’s hand was on my shoulder as I flusteredlly gazed at Franklin, my face dripping wet, his concerned face quickly turning into a bit of an reassuring face.
”Sorry dude I didn’t mean to startle you ”his face trying its best to hide his laughter, probably from my face.
“I just wanted to ask if you’re okay since I see your a bit in a dripping mess” he chuckled, “yeah I’m fine” I managed to say, feeling my face go back to its normal tone but with a hint of pinkish blush on my face,”Alright see you after class dude”, “yeah see you later after class Franklin”,I muttered as I watched him exit the bathroom reminding me to go on my way to go to my first period class which being science.
It didn’t help that the slight knot and nervousness in my stomach was still there in hopes of calming myself down i had embarrassed myself along with trying to calm myself down, Franklin would totally use that moment against me someday and I knew it.
Besides why did they choose to put the lockers near the boys bathroom, creepy much? Who in their right mind thought that would be a good bathroom placement.
Once I have entered science class I couldn’t help but notice that Violet was heading towards me,
which was normal but also not so normal, I secretly hoped that Patty nor Violet heard what happened inside of that bathroom just now with Franklin.
Violet and one of the most popular girls in school as well of being one of Lucy’s old friends was approaching me, why would she be approaching me other than about Lucy, Or the fact that she most likely heard the commotion between me or Franklin
Since we only really talked about school work when it was necessary I assumed it was about Lucy, what else would it be about .
“Hey Schroeder, has anyone told you anything-”, “Morning to you to Violet”
“Yeah, yeah Anyways as I was saying, has anyone told you that Lucy and Linus have moved back to town?”,I felt my ears slowly becoming a slight shade of red at the sudden forwardness of her question
No, not at all why are you telling me this”? I asked in slightly surprised tone but not as much from over hearing the conversation a few minutes ago.
“Oh,come on Schroeder!!, we all knew how your relationship was between you two, during primary school”,
“You,You were?”
“Of course!?, Everybody knew!!” She said in slight frustrated tone.“Forget it Schroeder, just forget it!, you never even cared about her!”
“I-I…”
“Is this Mrs.Lennon’s first period science class?”
I immediately recognized that sweet but annoying voice, as I turned around to face the now but familiar but grown girl,
It was no other but Lucy van pelt.
