Chapter Text

"¡Deku...!"
"Good morning, Katchan!" Izuku came out of the bathroom with his toothbrush in his mouth and the baby on his left arm. "Did you sleep well? We didn't want to wake you up, we wanted to let you sleep a bit longer."
Katsuki's face relaxed as he let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding. He had genuinely gotten scared when he didn't feel anyone beside him, as if it had all been a dream. Just when things were starting to go well; for a second he thought something had happened.
Don't do that again, idiot... "Why didn't you wake me up?"
Izuku curved his eyebrows into a smile, looking a bit apologetic. "You looked so comfortable sleeping. Don't worry, there's still time left."
Katsuki closed his eyes and sighed.
"Besides..."
He looked back at Izuku.
"I'll take care of the baby today." He grinned from ear to ear. "You looked after him all day yesterday, so today we're spending the day together, right?"
He smiled down at the child, who waved his hands while giggling.
Katsuki huffed. "Just don't do anything weird..."
Deku looked at him completely outraged. "What kind of image do you have of me?"
Katsuki just turned away, managing to hold back a laugh at Deku's huff.
Deku went back into the bathroom and Katsuki got off the bed, walked a few steps, and stopped in front of the door. "Should I hold him? You're gonna get toothpaste on your uniform at this rate."
Deku took the toothbrush out of his mouth. "I'm supposed to get used to these things," he started, furrowing his brow. "And you know I'm quick, don't worr—"
Katsuki pointed at his shirt. "A little already landed on it," he pointed out, with a stoic look.
"What?!" Izuku quickly looked down, then let out an annoyed sigh. "Fine, maybe I'm not that great at it..." he admitted with clear displeasure.
Katsuki let out a quiet laugh and stepped closer to him. And just as he expected, the baby reached out his arms and Katsuki immediately reciprocated. The little one held onto his black shirt tightly, burying his face into his chest; he seemed to enjoy the rhythm of Katsuki's breathing, who stroked his back slowly. He's still a bit nervous with this kind of contact; his skin gets goosebumps and his fingers tremble. He isn't sure what it's about, but he needs to set aside that feeling stabbing at his heart, especially when something so small and innocent looks so happy in his arms, in his warmth.
"You okay?"
Katsuki looked up instantly, then nodded. "It's nothing..." He left the bathroom and arranged the blankets he used last night into a small playpen, securing the pillow at the edge and placing the child right in the middle with his All Might Tsum. It surprises him that he liked that thing; with that signature smile, Katsuki expected the kid to get scared, but instead, he refused to let go of that plushie.
He definitely seems like Izuku's kid...
He started taking off his shorts and shirt, then grabbed the towel from his closet, and just as he predicted, Deku came out of the bathroom scrubbing his shirt to get the stain out. He closed his closet doors and headed into the bathroom.
Deku looked up from his shirt and for some reason looked like he had seen a ghost. Katsuki stared at him for a few seconds before speaking. "I'm taking a shower. Make sure he stays between the blankets."
"A—alright..."
Katsuki raised an eyebrow and then huffed; sometimes he really doesn't understand Deku. He walked past him and closed the bathroom door behind him.

Katsuki finished showering, but forgot the massive detail of his uniform, and he doesn't want to get dressed in his room knowing Deku is still there. He wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped out of the room, but to his surprise, it was empty. He walked over to the nightstand beside his bed and sent Deku a text; seconds later he replied saying he had gone downstairs to eat breakfast. Deku is always like that—he gets lost in his own world and forgets about important things. Katsuki has to make sure that habit changes. After sending him a stern text reprimanding him for not telling him he was leaving early, he started getting dressed.
When he went downstairs, there wasn't much interaction. Most people were already outside the dorms, so after eating breakfast, Katsuki and Izuku headed off to class together.
It was noticeable in the air that the weather was changing. Katsuki really enjoys that damp air, since it means the cold is receding.
Just a few steps from the classroom, Deku seemed to have an idea. "By the way, we should go shopping soon." He motioned toward the child with his eyes. "He needs clothes."
Katsuki nodded. "Let's go after class; my allowance came in a few days ago."
Deku seemed about to answer.
"Hey guys!"
Mina's sudden greeting almost made his heart jump out of his chest. "Dammit, raccoon eyes! Are you trying to give us a heart attack?!"
Katsuki was about to warn her about scaring the kid, but the baby started laughing out loud, looking happier than ever. Katsuki had to swallow his words.
She laughed. "Sorry, Blasty! You know I get overly excited sometimes. Good morning, Midoriya-kun."
"Good morning, Ashido-san."
Suddenly she started staring intently at Katsuki, and a few seconds later, he realized what she wanted. "No," he denied sternly.
"Why?! We had so much fun yesterday! Right, baby?" She smiled at the child. "Come on... tell your 'ma' to let me play with you..." She took his little hands and gently started wiggling them. He just smiled, faintly trying to grab her horns.
"You know he can't answer you. Don't hide behind him." Katsuki walked over to drop off his bag while Deku and Mina followed him.
"Sorry, Ashido-san. I'm spending the day with him today, maybe tomorrow."
"Hell no, tomorrow is mine." He turned toward them, crossing his arms.
"You're so mean!"
Izuku suddenly laughed; he seemed genuinely comfortable with the situation—a concept completely incomprehensible to Katsuki.
The young man sat in his seat and rolled up his sleeves, then pulled the warm bottle out of his backpack and adjusted the child in his arms; he loosened his tie a bit for extra comfort and began feeding him. The little one wasted no time drinking eagerly; Izuku smiled at his enthusiasm.
Suddenly, Mina started circling him with her camera, taking photo after photo. The child set the bottle aside and started laughing hard.
Izuku offered a forced smile toward his classmate. "Ashido-san... you're distracting him. He needs to eat..." He doesn't want to be mean to his classmate, but the child not eating meant quite a few repercussions for him personally.
"Sorry!" she squealed while hiding her phone behind her back. Then she grinned, as if an idea had struck her. "Can I feed him?"
Izuku blinked for a few seconds, then curved his eyebrows with a smile and nodded. "Alright, please sit down."
Mina obeyed with immense enthusiasm. Izuku placed the little one in her arms, and extremely excited, she started feeding him. The little boy kept his eyes glued to her while he ate, his eyes so big it looked like they might pop out at any moment. She smiled at him from ear to ear, promising herself she would be the best aunt in the world.
"You really don't understand the word 'no'."
Deku startled at Katsuki's voice, as he hadn't noticed when he had walked over. He turned toward him while Mina stuck her tongue out at him with a grin.
"I don't see why not, he likes it."
"He's a baby, he likes anything that's weird," he said, envy reflecting in his eyes as he crossed his arms.
"Hey! Out of the two of us, you're the weird one." Mina went silent for a few seconds. Katsuki raised an eyebrow, only to start second-guessing himself when he saw her smile wickedly. "Blasty... are you jealous?"
Katsuki processed those words for a few seconds. "Ah— Ha?! Who the fuck is jealous?!" He slammed both hands on the desk as he yelled (gently so as not to scare the kid). A bright red took over the ash-blond's cheeks, giving Mina complete validation over her words.
Izuku smiled at him while raising his hands in feigned surrender, aiming to calm him down. "Take it easy, Katchan..."
Katsuki was about to yell at him, but then the teacher arrived. His mere presence made everyone return to their seats. Izuku picked up the child and returned to his spot.
Classes continued quite peacefully, but Katsuki hadn't stopped thinking about what Mina told him. Being jealous sounded like an overstatement—he wasn't jealous. Rather, it was like a slight pressure in his chest whenever he saw someone other than himself or Izuku holding that child. He wasn't sure what it was about, but it started the moment he left him crying to run away like an idiot; ever since, something strange had been happening with his heart, and he wants to fix it as soon as possible.
✧•························•♡•·························•✧
When break started, Izuku and his friends headed to the library. He and the others chatted while the child played with the All Might Tsum on his lap, while yesterday's incident was the main topic among the group.
"Seriously, I was really scared when Katchan yelled at me over the phone. I thought something bad had happened." He smiled.
"Even I heard him standing right next to you. Bakugo broke the sound barrier," Uraraka said with a hint of a laugh.
"And he let himself be changed?" Iida asked, thinking about what his mom had told him when he was little—how much trouble she had changing his diaper.
"It was pretty easy, then I bathed him and we laid down to sleep with Katcha—" His strange smile froze in time as he felt a drop of sweat run down his cheek; he had completely blown it.
The child just laughed at his strange expression. His friends looked at each other, clear doubt and surprise written on their faces.
Shinso looked at him with his usual tiredness, but with considerable surprise. "You slept with Baku—"
Izuku's feet started moving on their own while his brain began concocting anything to get out of that situation. "Ah! Do you need to go to the bathroom, baby? I'll gladly take you, yeah, let's go to the bathroom—"
"Hold it right there!" Ochako rushed to step in his way, stretching her arms out to both sides so he had no chance of escaping. "That excuse is pretty terrible, Deku-kun." She dropped her hands heavily onto his shoulders. "Now... tell your dear friends everything, with details..." Her sinister smile widened further, her words heavy with curiosity.
Izuku could only regret his loose tongue.
• • •
The silence became agonizing for Izuku, his face remaining burning hot. He simply wished to escape the surprise on his friends' faces.
Ochako had a slight idea of what was going on between them. It didn't surprise Shoto and Hitoshi all that much, really; they had too much history to question anything. Yaoyorozu and Tsuyu were whispering in a corner about it, and Iida couldn't be more shocked considering the blond's personality. How was Midoriya still alive?
"Well... You really took a risk with that photo, Deku-kun."
"I have no intention of showing you guys. I want to keep my life..." Those details were more than enough. The fact that he caressed Katchan's hand while trying to put the baby to sleep, and that the next morning his finger brushed against his eyelashes, was something he'd take to the grave—if fate allowed it.
"Sure..." Ochako narrowed her eyes. Something in her sixth sense was telling her the story was incomplete.
Iida adjusted his glasses. "I would like to refrain from seeing it, thank you." Having a picture of Bakugo different from his current image wasn't in his plans, and he doesn't like prying into such intimate things.
"I do want to. Will you show me?" Shoto asked in a neutral tone. A new side of Bakugo piqued his interest, especially with that little copy of his.
Izuku smiled apologetically. "Not this time, Todoroki-kun. I'm sorry."
"Oh... okay," he let out disappointedly.
"So..." The group looked at Uraraka. "Is this going to happen again?"
"That depends on him..." He lowered his gaze to the child.
He was bored. It had been a good while since the last bit of fun dissipated. He shook his possession, wishing to be in those other arms: warm, soft, big, with a delicious scent. Instead, the person holding him... sure, he was nice too, but he was missing something—something that made him want to sleep, that wouldn't hold him in the exact same position the whole time. He pushed and pushed; grunts, complaints. He wants to go to Mama. He wants Mama. "Ma! MAA!"
"My, he really has little patience for you," Uraraka chimed in.
"I know..." he squeaked, an imaginary tear in his eye. "How can I make him like me more? Should I wear a Katchan mask when I have him with me?" he asked, looking at everyone with an expression on the verge of tears.
"I am certain Bakugo-san would murder you, Midoriya-san," Yaoyorozu replied.
"Ha... That sounds amusing to watch..." Hitoshi whispered with a sly smirk.
Izuku furrowed his brow. "I heard you..." He pulled out his phone and waited until the call was accepted. "Hello, Katchan. You see... what happened is—"
"Mam!"
A sigh escaped through the phone.
Izuku let out a dry laugh. "We're in the library."
And the call ended.
Guilt hit him like a cold bucket of water. How was it possible that the child couldn't stand even half an hour with him? What was Izuku missing for the baby to feel comfortable by his side? The idea of putting on a Katchan mask sounded pretty tempting now, even if that would only mean fooling himself and the child. Someday he will discover Katchan's secret.
A couple of minutes later, Katsuki arrived at the library followed by his group, whom he had miserably failed to scare off.
"Hey."
The child's gaze, previously bored and detached from the sensory stimuli he needed, perked up in an instant upon hearing his voice. He couldn't take it anymore; he needed his warmth, his scent, the vibration of his voice in his ears. Mama was here, he had come for him; he loves him. His arms began stretching out insistently—his plushie didn't matter anymore, but Papa was annoying, he wouldn't let him go. "Mam!" he yelled as best as he could.
His view became higher. Mama is closer, a little closer. He has managed to grab his shirt, tightly; his warm hands hold him, and finally, he is in his arms. The warmth flows in waves; the scent, sweet and cozy, floods his nostrils. He smiles without holding back. Mama rubs his back; warm, pleasant. Yes, Mama is much better.
"Couldn't you entertain him a little longer?"
Izuku picked up the plushie. "I don't know what you have that I don't. Maybe he just doesn't like me," he huffed in annoyance, unable to stop looking at the silly smile on his baby, which had done nothing but widen when Katchan uttered his first word. He simply didn't get it.
They sat together, and slowly, both groups began chatting as one. Nonsensical things flew through the air; Kaminari's jokes, Shoto's funny remarks, Kirishima with his exaggerated reenactments while telling stories. Katsuki felt more at home than he cared to admit, and maybe he understands just a little bit why the child preferred being with him over Izuku. His group moved at a completely different speed.
"Haha! But seriously Blasty, that kid really loves you," Kirishima said.
"You look like his mom." Hitoshi took the opportunity to drop those words, as they had been on the tip of his tongue for a while.
Katsuki looked ready to blow smoke out of his ears, his face entirely stained red—something very new to those present. "Shut up, zombi! How do I look like one?!"
"Your face—those eyelashes are insane, Katchan," Kaminari said.
"How you hold him," Kirishima pointed out.
Mina grinned from ear to ear. "You looked very maternal when you gave him his bottle during lunch."
"Your chest." Shoto also wanted to mess with Bakugo.
"You bastards... those are pecs!"
¡Te vamos a comprar muchísima ropa, cariño! ¡Voy a elegir unos pijamas preciosos!"
—¡Oye!
