Notes:

sorry for the short chapter ! trying to post regularly.

Chapter Text

the drive to multi’s house was mainly quietly, songs kept playing on the aux. every time a song she knew played, she would shuffle in her seat. katie hated awkward silence. it was something she always did her best to avoid, to constantly talk and talk until she couldn’t anymore.

when the two of them arrived, he gently tapped her shoulder to let her know. she lowered her head, avoiding his gaze as multi helped her out of the car. she only raised her head to take a peak at his house. it was a lot bigger than she had thought it was, but she did suppose he worked for one of the richest companies in their area.

multi didn’t say much, just opened the door and gestured katie to follow him inside. she gave a small smile, walking forward into the house.

the air was cold, goosebumps forming on her skin. she shivered, her teeth chattering together a bit too loud. she wasn't wearing a great outfit for cold weather, in her defense she didn’t think her night would go like this.

katie flinched as a coat wrapped around her, looking up and gazing at the man behind her. multi had an unreadable expression, one she could only assume was disappointment or disgust, but she didn’t comment.

“sorry, i usually like it cold.” he murmured, keeping his voice low as he walked further into his house. he looked back at her, “you can sit on the couch, i’ll be right back.”

and so, katie obeyed. she cautiously walked over to what she assumed was the living room, and plopped down onto the couch. she held tight onto the coat, hugging it around her. she felt exhausted, cold, and drunk. it was a horrible mixture, but at least she was safe.

too cold, sleepy and drunk to look around, katie kept her eyes closed while waiting for multi to come back. she didn’t hear him as he came closer as well.

“katie?”

she jumped, opening her eyes and adjusting them to make eye contact. “fuck, sorry, you scared me.”

he chuckled softly, slowly sitting beside katie. “it’s fine, it’s fine.”

a pause.

“your english has um,” she stuttered and silently cursed herself in her head, “gotten better!”

multi hummed softly, “thank you kaska.”

god, the awkwardness was unbearable. katie didn’t have the stability to say anything, to talk about it. she feared being rejected most. but, he had kissed her with so much passion, so much want. she figured just maybe that things would go her way for once.

she let her hand wander, searching for his. brushing her soft fingers over his cold skin. it was quiet, and for a moment she didn’t push further. but multi grabbed her hands and squeezed ever so softly. she giggled.

“multi,” she said, her voice wavering a bit. she swallowed, trying to forget her nervousness. “i’m sorry about that.”

he squeezed her hand once more, tracing light circles with his thumb on the back of her hand. it helped a lot more than he probably thought.

“before the party or whatever, i had an intervention.” she slowly got her spark back, adding playfulness into her tone. “some of my uh, friends, talked to me about him. this time i finally listened.”

“but i hadn’t told him yet. and the next day, or well night, was today. i got so scared, so worried about him leeching onto me again, i um.”

she made eye contact with multi, trying to read his expression. he only gave a small pitying smile, and nodded in acknowledgment. it was enough for her, at least for now.

“i chose you.” she exhaled.

“i know what man he is, katie.” he looked away from her, gazing in front of him.

“he wouldn’t have left you alone otherwise.”

katie was happy he understood. “exactly!”

“so why me?”

she hadn’t even been able to finish her sentence, to stabilize herself. katie herself didn’t even know the answer to that.

“katie?”

“it just, felt right.”

the words were quiet, spoken oh so softly from her lips. she had blurted them out, not really thinking about it all that much. it was the truth after all.

multi seemed to wait for more, but seeing as katie didn’t seem to be saying anything else soon, he spoke.

“kurwa katie,” he tried to sound friendly, but was unsure if he did, “you’re fascinating.”

katie giggled, a bit shocked by his forwardness. she supposed he was also drunk though, and multi never seemed too great with alcohol. she decided to ignore the fact he drove them both here while under the influence.

“there is some problems i have with that, but we can discuss it in the morning.” he spoke gently, and gave her hand another squeeze. it was only slightly comforting.

“i’m sorry again.”

“katie, it’s alright.” he assured, standing up and wiping his sweat off onto his pants.

katie still felt like an ass, but didn’t want to embarrass herself any further. her shame kept her quiet. some part of her wanted to run away, to continue running until her legs gave in and she collapsed.

multi held a hand out for katie, but as she reached for it he picked her up and carried her bridal style. she made a nervous squeak and clung to his shirt. neither of them looked at each other as multi carried her up to his room, the silence being a mix between comfort and tension.

“thank you…” katie whispered.

he hummed softly, laying her down onto his bed. “i figured after everything that has happened tonight, you may want to rest on an actual bed.”

“maybe, just maybe.” she giggled. “are you um, also going to sleep here multi?”

“if you’re fine with that. it is a pretty big bed.” he murmured, walking over to the other side, looking at her expectantly.

katie flushed slightly, and grinned. “well, i’ll warn you, i move around in my sleep. some even say i sleep walk!” of course, she was lying. she didn’t know if either of those things were true, but she didn’t believe they were. he laughed, a bit louder than she thought her joke was worth, but happy nonetheless.

multi crawled into bed, adjusting himself so he fit more comfortably. “goodnight, kaska.” he whispered, closing his eyes. katie hummed back happily, curling up and closing her eyes as well.

she just hoped she wouldn’t cling onto him during the night.
