Chapter Text
Zuko gave Aang a remorseful smile. “I know you’re someone who is often busy, and marriage may not be appealing to you. So do not feel the need to placate my Uncle,” He tucked some of his hair behind his ear.
“Oh.”
Zuko nods a few times, signalling that this conversation is allowed to come to an end. “So…uh…”
“Are you an Omega?” Aang blurts out.
Zuko freezes, and blinks. “Yes,” he says, caught off guard. “I am.”
Aang nods awkwardly. Bites the inside of his lip. “So, I guess,” He creates circles with his pointer finger on the table. “I can see where Iroh is coming from.”
“Excuse me?”
Aang freezes next. He stops his finger movement. He looks at Zuko’s face. It’s pinched in a way showing irritation. He’s had a look given to him enough growing up to see the signs. “I..uh…”
“Do you believe Omegas cannot rule on their own?”
“NO!” He holds his hands up, trying to show remorse. “Never. There are many Omegas that have ruled nations. Bumi who rules the Earth Kingdom is an Omega and one of my best friends.”
Zuko’s face relaxes, but his shoulders haven’t followed. “I know what I am doing.”
Aang sighs, then puts his hands in his lap. He tries again. “I wouldn’t believe Iroh to be one to make unwise decisions. I am ready to get to know you, marriage or not.”
Zuko studies him.
A turtle duck finds its way over to Zuko, and bleeps at him, making him jump.
Aang chuckles, and takes a sandwich off of the table to break up into small pieces to give to the animal. It walks over to Aang and eats out of his hand.
Zuko relaxes his shoulders, and looks off to the side. His face is red. “I am not against getting married. My parents are in an arranged marriage, and my Uncle had one as well.”
Aang says nothing. Waiting for Zuko to continue.
Zuko pinches the bridge of his nose, and huffs. “I can do this, I already know I can, but you’re the Avatar. How often would you be home if this would come to pass?”
Aang thinks, but is once again distracted by the smell of lightning and fire from Zuko. It makes him want to shoot lightning into Zuko. To bring their hands together, and coat Zuko with his own fire.
“Aang?” Zuko says in a troubling way.
Aang blinks. Feeling the taste of fire on his tongue, realizing he had been exhaling it. He covers his mouth. “Sorry. I don’t know why I’m doing that. It rarely happens,” He speaks behind his hand.
Zuko licks his lips. “I-uh,” He starts, staring at Aang’s mouth in interest. “It smelled nice.”
Aang is unsure about dropping his hand. “It does?” His hand feels the heat he breathes out.
Zuko grimaces. “This is embarrassing,” He ducks his head down, hair falling to cover his face. He drops his elbows onto the table, and covers his face with both of his hands. “We can end this conversation now, Avatar.”
Aang remembers being Zuko’s age. The emotions, and being around powerful people. It’s attractive, whether platonic or not.
He drops his hand into his lap. “I am finding myself amused, Future Fire Lord,” He smiles.
“You would. You’re similar to Uncle. Always amused, no matter how serious the need may be,” He huffs, disgruntled. He takes his hands off his face, and notices the turtle duck from earlier has fallen asleep next to Aang.
Zuko sits up, and takes a hair tie off his wrist, beginning to gather his hair together, and tying it together at the nape of his neck.
Aang feels a flurry of heat in his chest, and he sees Zuko’s neck. It makes him want to sink his teeth into it.
“Do you have an urge to lead differently from your Uncle?” The fire continues to spit from Aangs out. He’s resigned himself to this, if he is to continue hanging out with Zuko.
Zuko’s eyes zero in on Aang’s mouth again.
Aang smirks.
“This is distracting.”
Aang laughs. “You have to learn to lead and ignore distractions.”
Zuko rolls his eyes. As if Aang isn’t the right person to say that to him. “You’re not the one smelling it. It makes me want to crawl over there, and taste your mouth,” He says straightforwardly.
Aang sharpens his focus onto Zuko. Humor leaves his body, and his Alpha instincts, which are often dormant, rising to the top of his mind. “Firelord Zuko,” Aang begins. “Have you kissed anyone before?” His voices deepens, and he adds some teasing into his tone.
Zuko shakes his head.
“You seem,” Aang exhales a larger ball of fire. Lightly scorching the table. “Not embarrassed at the thought of tasting my mouth, as you so eloquently said.”
Zuko balls his fist on the table. “Shut up, Avatar.” His embarrassment sparked once again.
Aang lets out a humorless laugh. Nothing is funny about Aang having the urge to kidnap Zuko to the Air Temple, and having his way with him.
But as he looks at the young man, he wonders if Zuko would be against it.
The way Iroh is pushing things, he’d probably allow it.
Zuko could be fat, pregnant while he takes their vows, and possibly be holding their child while taking over reigns as Fire Lord.
Aang decides he may need to be the responsible one here. He inhales deeply, and pushes the fire down deep into his core, who Iroh once taught him to do. Along with other fire masters that are a part of the white lotus.
He quietly disperse the fire into different chakra points in his body. Reserving the fire for other times of need.
“I believe I can be a good mate to you. Times are peaceful now. I did a lot of fighting in my youth, so I can be there for you and our children,” He answers Zuko’s earlier question.
He no longer breathes fire as he speaks.
Zuko frowns. “Why is your smell gone?”
Aang smiles crookedly. “I swallowed it.”
“Why?”
“Because.” He reaches across the table, and grabs Zuko’s hand. “I may have let you have a taste.”
