    Summary

    Vox, having been married before, had an inbuilt assumption about date nights. He'd get dressed, him and Enid would wave off the babysitter, they'd have dinner and chat until it got late and then came the hard part. The part where Vox (his name was Vaughn back then) would play pretend beneath the curtain of bedsheets and blankets and hope for not another kid. The part where he lied and played his part and went to bed feeling like something was horribly wrong with him. He made a bed with guilt just as often as he made a bed with Enid. That was the hard part. The feeing that he did everything right and still feeling like he did everything wrong.

    Vox, now dead, was happy to say date nights weren't like that anymore.
